Hello my Australian reading friends (and those elsewhere if you are so inclined)!
When was the last time you read a book by an Australian woman writer?  Interested in righting a nasty gender bias against them in this country?

I recently read Bridie's Choice by Karly Lane and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like cookie I enjoy  Liz Byrski, Monica  McInernay and Rachael Johns. I have Man Drought on my must read list.

I loved them too Kezza and I was really disappointed that none of my 4 kids got into Enid Blyton when they were young.
I loved the Nancy Drew books too but Enid Blyton was my favourite  :D

I lived for Nancy Drew!

I'm reading Runaway Ralph by Beverly Cleary to DS at the moment, and then next up is apparently Charlotte's Web  ;D

For myself I'm reading The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and enjoying it - I clearly still love kids books.

Just finished Wallace Stegner's "Crossing to Safety" as recommended by Charlotte Wood on the ABC book club show last year.  A wonderfully written book with a remarkable rhythm to it. Much recommended.

Have started latest bookclub book "The god in the ink" by Kathryn Lomer.  This is the first novel from a poet who was born in Tasmania.  I am nearly half way through it and loving it.  Beautifully written and very Australian.  The book is still working it's way up to the reason behind it's title.

I've just finished 'The Mother's Group' by Fiona Higgins. Took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but a good read in the end. Now I've started 'The Pursuit of Love' by Nancy Mitford, just for something completely different!
I've also downloaded Gone Girl - has anyone read this? Got some good reviews...

I went and listened to Rachael Johns speak the other night. She writes the country romance genre. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her. It took her 15 years to get published. She started with Mills and Boon but couldn't come up to their strict rules. She has just published her new book 'Man Drought'.

Nice to see so much variety here.  i have been avoiding this thread because there are only so many hours in the day, ( and night). >:(
I love to read.  Have just read Pentecost by JF Penn,  not good enough to spend time on.  Bought a new Author on the iPad through KOBO.  Gillian Galbraith,  Blood In The Water., Like her style so have bought 3 more for less then $9.  Find this hard to believe.  I like Murder Mysteries,  but will not read any that deal with children.  Also was told to buy, Miss garnet's Angel by  Salley Vickers.  Looking forward to this.
I am trying to load up my iPad for when we go OS but i keep reading the ones i am trying to save. :-))
DH and I give each other book vouchers to Readings in Carlton for Birthdays and Xmas ,  Bought Jo Nesbo and have been reading Henning Mankell, Peter Corris, and Maureen Ash.
better go and get on with my reading ;D
