2 steps forward, 1 step back.  Not with me, I'm progressing as expected but not only did DH have a chest infection when he came home but he was also in the early stages of a bladder infection.  I thought he was too sick for just a chest infection and had asked them to send a sample off just before he came home.  Results back in today and luckily I have the correct antibiotic on hand for this problem (all ready to take on our cancelled cruise just in case they were needed).  Just means he will be weaker for another week or so.  It never rains but it pours around here.

CHRISTMAS / Re: Christmas Class
« on: December 01, 2009, 07:03:48 am »
Your Christmas demo was a bit different to the Adelaide one Ali - we had a crab dip which was very nice, chocolate sorbet which was interesting, strawberry & watermelon cooler (so refreshing), Christmas coleslaw, steamed beetroot salad, chicken & potato salad,(all nice)  the pretzels, bread & butter pudding (not demonstrated just premade for us to taste), frangipane fruit slice & brandy cream sauce (a real winner).  No door prize but some questions and prizes of tea towel, apron or recipe leaflets given out.

The things you sit around thinking of when you are recuperating ILB  ;) ;)  Loved the idea of filling chocolate baskets with the foam.  I like it either way, fresh or frozen but had various responses from people (including children) with the one and only batch I made. Surprisingly DH enjoyed it and he is not a sweet person generally.

Good on you JulieO for keeping on trying to get it right.  Funny how yoghurt, even though some have success, others have all the trouble in the world.  That's why I was amazed I got it right first time trying Valerie's recipe.  I wouldn't have thrown the mixture away though, could have used it to make a drink of some sort. Hang your glasses around your neck so you don't forget them  ;) ;)

Hi and welcome (again, I posted a welcome somewhere else) pandateddy.  Better move on from the desserts, you'll put on weight before you even start cooking  :D :D :D  Have a look in mains for some great meals. Be great if your sister gets one too.

Hi & welcome to the forum pandateddy.  That was your first 5 hours on the forum, believe me you will spend many, many more. Glad you like our recipes, there are some beauties here and they are still coming at a rapid pace.  I have files bulging with recipes to try and very rarely cook the same recipe twice unless I have visitors, then of course, I give them something I know is going to work and be delicious.

Hi chookie, glad to see you finally introduced yourself after lurking for a while.  I'm sure I can speak for Thermomixer as well in saying that it was our pleasure to help you start posting and commenting on this forum plus drawing attention to your blog because you have so much to contribute.  You grasped the TMX so quickly I'm sure your computer skills will pick up too.  Since giving you a couple of lessons in posting recipes and commenting, you have been quite active on the forum so we expect to see a lot more from you now.  Go ahead and share your thoughts on the basic bread process from the EDC - everyone will want to hear what your preferred method is.  It is so nice to have you with us, keep enjoying your cooking and converting your favourite recipes.

I thought it a bit odd too Baf65.  Did you eat one whilst it was hot or are they supposed to be eaten cold? Will make a note of your suggestion. The lady sitting next to me at the demo told me to try it dipped in the brandy cream sauce and that was really nice.

JulieO, I used Jalna BioDynamic Organic Whole Milk Yoghurt from Woolworths (in a 500g pot) and used full cream milk and it was perfect.  Just left it in the TM bowl to cool down to 37o - took a while but I had other things to do so didn't notice the time it took.  The next time I make it I want to try it with skim milk to see if that works as I don't generally buy full fat dairy products.  Working my way through my 2 litres and by the end of the week will post everything I did with it.

CHRISTMAS / Re: Christmas Class
« on: November 30, 2009, 08:00:47 am »
I enjoyed Adelaide's morning Christmas cookery demo, not a lot of people there though.  I enjoyed everything they gave us and ended up buying the book plus the vegetarian one.  Amanda and I introduced ourselves to Tenina at the end and her comment to me was 'you put a lot of recipes on the forum' - nice to know she notices as she is a very busy young lady. Introduced myself to Debbie in the foyer as we were the first 2 there so raved on about the forum.  Hi Debbie if you took my advice and checked it out.

Cookie1, lovely to see your dip recipe in the book (hope you got a free book for your efforts!).  Got some light reading to do in bed tonight - me and my 2 new books.
