What are you cooking today?
« Reply #36255 on: January 10, 2022, 11:18:16 am »
I made some fougasse (??) from Cookidoo. I don’t think I made them flat enough. They were nice though. I also made a Bimby Chocolate cake and made it into 2 cakes. Also did some of Chookie’s No Fuss Rolls which I will take to my brother’s tomorrow with one of the cakes. His wife has had a shoulder replacement and is out of action for a while.

Cookie to the rescue, your SIL & DB will appreciate it.
The worse part of having fruit trees is that they ripen right over the busy Christmas/New Year period and usually in such hot weather.  I hope the birds don’t get to your peaches before you Chookie.
Thanks K Atie, it was nice to have the smell of baking bread once again, I sliced and froze it without tasting it.  You’re like my Mum’s many siblings who were farmers, my Aunts were all great cooks as you have to be when you’re feeding the shearing team and farm workers. Mum was the youngest of 12 and she moved to the city when she married. I remember the reunions they used to have occasionally, they were held in country halls on the Yorke Peninsula and the spread was amazing. Mum was only a basic cook so it was a real treat to have so many different things to try.

Wow, Judy. Your Mum was one of 12. That's a lot. Was she spoiled being the youngest?

No cooking today as I spent the morning with my brother and SIL. Brother had made a cake under guidance. It was nice. It was an orange cake.

I made CP's mum's pineapple cheesecake today.  We had some for dinner tonight and the rest is in the freezer.

Nice big loaf Chookie.

I came across a healthy chocolate mousse recipe on Instagram whilst checking out another recipe (I’m not on that platform but with a bit of searching I found the post I wanted). It uses avocado, banana, coconut milk, vanilla, cacao (I used drinking chocolate) and peanut butter. Only makes 3 serves but it was worth making.   I also made some tomato pasta sauce using a mix of home grown cherry tomatoes and canned. I didn’t plant the tomato plant, it just came up on it’s own and I’ve picked dozens of little tomatoes from it from before Christmas to now.

Thanks cookie, a guilt free dessert. She also has a healthy ‘tiramisu’ type breakfast dish using oats which I want to try one day as well.

Judy, nice recipe. I’ll bet you got a buzz finding a recipe that health and nice.
Cookie, I found the remains of a packet of mixed seeds. I substituted 100 g of flour with seeds in this SD loaf. Also the Rye SD loaf that I made from your recipe is particularly nice. Will make it again for sure. Added caraway seeds which I love.

I need to make some more cake or biscuits. I found a recipe for cherry and almond little cakes. I may give those a go.

Have people coming for a BBQ.  Made the Sunshine Pullapart off Cookiedoo, Tenina’s Browned Butter Cherry Tart & Ottolenghi’s Apricot & Almond Cake (not made in the TM) & coleslaw.  So the TM has had a workout today but gee it saves you such a lot of time!
