Chit Chat / Jubilee Weekend - anyone from the UK cooking?
« on: June 02, 2012, 02:49:16 pm »
We are having a picnic in the park - I have Coronation Chicken palm pies and mini pork pies in oven, and tomorrow will do a Victoria Sponge, cupcakes, egg and cress sandwiches and jam drop biscuits. The children have put out the bunting on the front of the house with a huge Australian flag in the middle! The streets are all looking great. Happy Jubilee everybody!

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Asparagus Risotto - UK - Fast & Easy
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:36:33 pm »
Very good recipe. Allows the flavour of asparagus to be the hero. Could add some mint or lemon zest but I was happy with it as written .  There is a YouTube video of Janey from UK cooking this recipe.

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Tapenade in MWOC
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:39:27 am »
I have the UK version of this book - so hopefully this recipe is the same in the Australian version - on page 192. This is an excellent recipe but you do need to use good ingredients. I use kalamata olives that I pit myself as I find the already pitted ones often quite dry, and good quality capers and anchovies. The result is a highly addictive tapenade which I serve with a soft goats cheese and rosemary flatbreads. Really nice to serve with drinks on a spring evening, which fingers crossed, has finally arrived in the UK!

Chit Chat / Dinner Party Hits?
« on: March 20, 2012, 09:03:27 pm »
I have been having a lovely time with my Thermomix - but mainly (only) making delicious but everyday food for the family. I am having a dinner party this weekend and wondered what other members had served with a bit of wow factor that came out of the Thermomix?

Chit Chat / Is alcohol 'burnt' off in TM?
« on: March 13, 2012, 03:21:22 pm »
Does anyone know if ok to serve children meals made with alcohol when prepared in thermomix. Was thinking of doing the beef with Guinness stew, but wondered if that meant I was giving the kids alcohol. I think I read somewhere on a stove top it evaporates leaving just the flavour so is ok to serve children. Assuming the same in thermomix ?  Any chemists out there????

Introduce Yourself / Hi from UK

Hello, just getting my head around using the Thermomix and have been experimenting and reading all of your posts the last couple of weeks. Keen to start contributing recipes ... one day. For now, I just have lots of questions! I live in UK, but used to live in Australia so have the EDC as well as the UK recipe book.
