A gift from a chap who is on our peninsularís local FB group who makes sourdough loaves. He was gifted a few things from me when I had a good clear out of items I didnít use or need and it was when he collected the first gift that he talked about just starting to get into sourdough making. He offered me a loaf then but I was in the middle of radiation treatment at the time and bread was not something I could eat for ages. He told me to let him know when I was ready for a small cob but in the meantime started making yoghurt as well so I did try that. I decided it was time to give it a go, knowing it would taste better than the wholemeal bread Iíd been using in B & B puddings. So here it is, I had a slice with jam and cream after lunch. I had a little bit of crust which was lovely and crunchy and very difficult to eat but overall I managed to get it down with a lot of water in between bites. It will mostly go into my B & B puddings as that is the easiest way for me to eat it.

I'm fine now, Cookie, thanks for checking up on me.

K Atie, a wet back stove or heater is one that is plumbed in to also heat your hot water.

Chookie, I had a similar experience yesterday, making the shepherd's pie. I went to get some flour to thicken it only to discover that DH had used up every last grain of flour (it's as well we have got an order due for delivery today) ... I was stuck, couldn't have shepherd's pie with a runny filling but then I found some psyllium husks I had forgotten about as well as some red lentils hidden in the back of my cupboard and that saved the day.

Also, Chookie (and everyone else who orders and gets their groceries delivered from the supermarkets) do you often experience problems or is it generally a pretty good service - we have got a choice between Coles and Safeway/Woolworths.

Bought some prepared Chicken Kievís. New line from Safeway. Not as nice as homemade ones.
Had a home delivery from Safeway which they really messed up. I ended up with 4x 500 gram packets  of minced Turkey. Missed out on most of the frozen goods. I contacted them and they refunded for what was missed. I tried to mention on line the extras but no provision to do so.
Tonight, BBQ forequarter chops.  Normally I would make a sweet curry with them but they are from a very young lamb so will grill them.

Found a 1/2 bag of white flour that I had shared with someone.  Have been putting off trying to determine exactly what it was. Plain white, SR white, strong bread or white bread mix. Looked up Google and tested for SR.  Not that.  Tasted it but still couldnít tell.
Decided  in the end to make a No Fuss loaf. Yes it was white mix.
Havenít been out of the house for 2 days as it has been very cold. Didnít get past 8 on Saturday.
We are still in semi lockdown. No visitors and masks if outside of home. Not as bad as Melbourne.

Itís spooky the way we rely on our electricity. We are extremely fortunate here and have few outages. If they go past a few hours DH starts up the generator for our fridge and freezer and runs a cord over to the neighbours for theirs, then they donít mind the noise. We have gas hot plates.
I hope it all get sorted for you KAtie.
Are you feeling better Marina?
