We have a calendar on the fridge and everything is put up on that. DH has learnt not to make any arrangements until he checks that. I also use a whiteboard and scrawl all over that. I've always been a list maker and organised, I guess that comes from teaching as I always believed that if you weren't well prepared when the class came in you had a lousy day.
When I had a bout of depression a while back I lost/couldn't use or something my organisational skills and that was what made me seek help. Oh and not wanting to cook!!! Imagine that.

Meagan that is wonderful about the community garden. My DH lived quite near where you are for the latter part of his growing up time. That was why I found it so easy to call over for the wheat!

Wow, I think Head office should see all testimonials for TMX.

I can only add mine. I love cooking, probably more on the baking side than any other. Having said that I don't use my TMX for cakes or egg whites as I feel I can do them better other ways. I have never made so much jam or sauces since I've had my machine and I now make 95% of our bread.  We were at Cash and Carry the other day (I'm a Perthie too) and DH was going down the aisle saying 'oh we make that, and than and that'. It made me realise just how much I do with the TMX.
I love it more now than ever.(have had it 14 months)It is used 2-3 times most days and often more.
We are retired so the outlay was a serious consideration, but I am not at all sorry.

If you wanted to chat personally it looks as though we are having another Perth get together this month and you would be most welcome. Check it out in Chit Chat.

Must stop raving. Go for it.

Introduce Yourself / Re: TM Raving Fan in Mareeba
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:33:50 am »
Welcome Noelene.  You are in the right place if you are a raving fan. I remember Mareeba well, we were stuck in the main street with an accident just down the road, towing our caravan! I ended up getting out and going shopping until it was cleared. Left DH in the car to move when it cleared.
We did love the area though, it's very beautiful. People were very friendly too. Although I guess the locals get a bit fed up with tourists, we certainly did when we lived in Broome.

Fig Jam

EDC

Tweaking
I used CSR jam sugar for this and only the juice of one lemon. I cooked it for 45 minutes at 1000 and then 10 minutes at Varoma.
Next time I make this I won't puree the figs. I'll simply cut them into halves or quarters and cook it on  :-: so that there may be pieces of fig left in the jam.

We like it very much although it's not quite what Mum made when I was a kid.

I made the fig jam today and it's rather nice. I'll put in a review for it.
