Chookie I’m glad Ral will be able to come home from hospital soon.  It’s great you have family and friends around, for support and assistance.

Sounds like you are doing a great job of culling.  I too had hundreds of cookbooks (not sure I had 500, but it might have been close) as well as a dozen or so boxes of foodie magazines I’d collected over many many years.  Last year I gave all the magazines and most of the cookbooks away on a local giveaway Facebook page.  Richard and I have also given away so much other stuff from our house and shed. I still have some cookbooks, but nowhere near as many as I had.

I was reluctant to give them away (even the magazines, which were in boxes and never looked at).  But I’ve not missed them one bit.  As you continue the down-sizing and culling, you will keep what’s important and not give a second thought to the things you give away.

Richard and I are sending our love and support to you, Ral and your family xx

Chookie when we shifted house I culled my cookbooks. I must admit I have only missed a couple and I was able to go and re buy those from an op shop. I have collected many more and do need to do a cull as some I rarely even look at.
After saying that I received this from Book Depository the other day and have another one coming about SD.

I’ve convinced myself that I don’t need anymore either Marina, but I seem to be making exceptions
For bread books. 😀😀😀😀
Today I was invited to a thermomix demo that was to show how to add your own recipes to Cookidoo. Those who remember Nikkit from the forum was there.  There were only 5 of us there and we did a lot of laughing. It was most enjoyable.

KATIE, l really appreciate the message about the books. I know it is so true. I started to put them in order so they would look nice for the sale of the house. In so doing , I found one that I hadn’t used for ages. I immediately found a nice recipe for a banana cake . I made it and it was lovely. I have managed to give away some magazines.
I have done a second cull of my baking tins. Wasn’t as painful this second time as GD has taken some.
I shifted into DD home today. Feels a bit strange. I taken some clothes and personal items.
COVID and flu are raging in Ballarat. I’m being very careful and wear my mask when away from the house. .

I remember Nikkit, she always had an interesting / fun post on here.

Chookie, now that you have moved to DD's home, does that mean Ral will be joining you soon?  How is he getting on with chemo and his recovery?

Friend and puppy arrived. Ral home next Thursday. Hell! Hired a Hospital type bed and bought linen for it yesterday. Invited friends and neighbours in to take stuff that I have cleared out from kitchen. Rest will go to op shop. DD is re arranging her house to accommodate us.
I didn’t realise I had so much stuff. There are 52 drawers in the kitchen, plus shelves. Even though I have removed a lot, I think I will probably have to do it again when we shift.
Lots of friends arriving. More talk than work. Good though.

I think Chookie mentioned Thursday Marina. Not many sleeps now. ;D

Lots of quilting groups seem to do that. Sometimes they do a square each or all contribute to one.
I have been dilly dallying around this morning. I hope to do the grocery shopping this afternoon.

I had a gardening team in this morning to do a lot of chopping back, removing plants etc and taking it all away for me,  I had my six monthly appointment with my Radiation Oncologist who was pleased with everything, he has organised a Dietician to do a phone consult with me tomorrow. This afternoon I had my electrician come to install a couple of small replacement parts and now my house maintenance to do list has nothing on it for the time being.

If only I could post photos to show you what a Medlar tree looks like , but it does have leaves that almost look like oak leaves .
Seem to be very tiered at the moment and have a whopping neck headache. Possibly due to stress , kids and their piers nasty actions impacting us all at the moment. But had a good arvo cooking .

Good result from your radiation oncologist, Judy.  Hope the dietician can come up with lots of ideas and help with suggestions of suitable meals for you to try.

Things are sounding rough for you just now, K Atie, hope everything settles down.

Wonderful news Judy.
KAtie take care.

I attended the last of my Mum’s sister’s funeral today. I found it very sad. Possibly because it was my last link to Mum. Met up with lots of cousins that I rarely see, so that was lovely.
