Bread / Re: Wholegrain Rolls, Worlds Best Diet« on: November 21, 2015, 06:54:48 am »
I made these today, I used wholemeal spelt flour as that's what I had.
I made 22 rolls and using an idea from one of Tenina's Xmas ebooks, shaped them into a wreath (although Richard said it looks like a flower). I sprinkled them with sesame seeds, as Richard always wants sesame seeds on all his bread. We had some for lunch and both enjoyed them. They are very tasty. I gave Judy a couple to take home to try and the rest are now in the freezer. 93

Happy anniversary Mich & Don, have a wonderful night.
It was nice to see Judy today, we had a good chat. I was supposed to be cleaning, so it was nice to sit down instead. This morning I made Chookies new wholemeal roll recipe and a new recipe halluomi and mint bread (haven't cut this one yet). 96

Lovely gifts.
It's nice to see some presents being opened. I like that glass plate Gert. We all need one those, as we are all Queens of our kitchens! 97

Chit Chat / Re: Air Fryer temperature and times - general guidelines 1st List« on: November 16, 2015, 10:29:57 am »
I bought an Actifry a couple of years ago, it was quite expensive then. It is round and has a paddle in the middle of it, it "paddles" the food around as it cooks - which is ok for chips, but not for other foods. I tried to do arranchini in it once and they were all squashed by the paddling. You can take the paddle out, but then the food doesn't cook evenly. I gave it away to my SIL (who loves it).
I then bought a a Rank Arena family size airfryer, which I like. I've been able to cook many more things in this, a whole chicken, a small pork roast for example. I think this type is better. The Phillips one is probably the best to get, but also the most expensive. 100

Yes terrible news about Paris.
How awful getting bogged Chookie, you are a trouper getting out into the mud to push. Hope you have some good news about the house selling soon. 102
News about Thermomix / Re: Exciting new classes in Perth.« on: November 14, 2015, 09:20:34 pm »
The food looks wonderful, sounds like you all had a great day.
If I lived in Perth I'd certainly want to attend these classes. 103

Your cinnamon buns look perfect Mab.
Thanks Chookie. I think your bread always looks wonderful. I like the sound of your wholemeal grain rolls, I'm trying to not make too much white bread and to incorporate more grains into our diet. 104

Bread / Re: Classic Bread (uses some SD starter)« on: November 14, 2015, 09:32:49 am »
I made this today, using wholemeal bread flour. I added a little more water because of the change of flour.
It made a lovely loaf which I've sliced and placed in the freezer. It sliced really well and I can just tell it will make lovely toast. Great recipe Cookie. I'm really liking my TMX bread knife with the slicing guide. It's really helping me slice my bread neatly. I love it. |
