Just wondering if anyone has dyed (sp?) red eggs in Thermomix?
-
Tebasile produced some beautiful Silk Dyed Easter Eggs using the TM here (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3144.0) Tasty.

A very timely question Tasty and thanks to CC, there's your answer. What doesn't this forum have :D

I had come across a similar recipe like I mentioned in the post CC shared and this made it clearer. I would prefer a more standard way of dying them using dye and possibly the rice basket. I might give it a go if feeling brave.

How about using the skin from red onions??
-
I was just looking at something that used the skin of red onions. I'll see if I can find it.
-
I checked everything I looked at on here and all magazines and newspapers. The only thing I found simply said you could use red onion skins. No directions or anything, sorry. :'(

Last night I read the instructions from the AWW Children's Art and Craft book (the old one). It goes something like this...
Put a chux wipe on the bench, then layers of red onion followed by the egg, tie it up into a nice package. Then put water in the tmx bowl, put the basket in and then the egg. Bring the water to boil (45mins in a traditional pot), but I'm not sure for how long in the TMX sorry!
It is a Latvian tradition so perhaps reading up on that might help too :)

My daughter was saying today how she saw on pinterest i think dying eggs with beetroot juice. She was saying how the juice permeates through the shell and colors the whites as well. I have been looking for some silk, not easy to find patterns here. I will keep looking for next year.
I have put leaves around eggs then carefully place eggs in a stocking to hold leaf and then boil up outside brown layers of onion and boil eggs in this water. Pretty but brown with leaf pattern..
