Chit Chat / TMX to the rescue
« on: June 23, 2013, 03:07:40 am »
Yes - TMX does grind coffee beans successfully.  Neatly averted a catastrophe - my coffee machine is in for repair!!!!!
Did not really want to go to instant when my son suggested buying ground coffee and using the plunger (how quickly we forget).  Buy ground coffee ?- when I have a TMX - no way.  Then I read something from "Coffee Snob" which says you can't successfully grind beans in the TMX.  Obviously I am not a coffee snob because they taste just fine to me.

Chit Chat / Is it possible to buy a bad bag of flour
« on: April 26, 2013, 02:14:03 am »
I have been successfully making No Fuss bread rolls for about two years.  Can just about do it in my sleep now.  Yesterday I made two batches - one turned out great the second batch with new 5kg bag of flour are like rocks with a more cake like texture and taste.
I tried again this morning with the same result.  Any suggestions? Do I just buy another bag and try again? The yeast is fine as the first batch turned out as normal.

Chit Chat / New Oven Installed today - So Excited!
« on: February 17, 2013, 08:22:27 am »

My BIL came and installed my new oven today (only room for the standard size upright without remodelling the whole kitchen unfortunatley).  I am now wondering what I might do with my trusty door stop which has held the door closed on the old one for the past 20 years.-  I was waiting for it to die (the oven - not the door stop)  but at this rate I might well have expired before it did so we helped it on its way today. Also a little nervous as I have never cooked on gas before (electric oven) a little concerned about all the recipes which I have now got down pat - all my bread, english muffins, sticky buns etc. The old oven was a little cantenkerous but we had become used to each other.
Wish me luck for later in the week.  Off to Sydney to play with my beautiful Grandbaby tomorrow and then work the next two days so Thursday it is!. :'( :-\ :-))

Well pleased to report that cake release works!!!!!  Made the Magic Bean cake today to take to dinner with a Gluten Free friend and this time it slid out of the tin perfectly.  Sorry still have not worked out to add the links but both recipes on the Forum.  of course made the Ganache in TMX also.

Chit Chat / Help with cake release
« on: August 11, 2012, 07:38:58 am »
I just made the Magic Bean cake (for the second time) first time it just fell out of the tin - this time it didn't.  Thank goodness I had a trial run as I want to take it for a dinner next week.  This one is going to be turned into rum balls (to take also - so not wasted).  Where did I go wrong this time - any suggestions for non stick  ideas for next time would be helpful.  I used a Bundt tin and sprayed with cooking oil (which is what I thought I did last time).

Introduce Yourself / Hi from the Blue Mountains NSW
« on: October 03, 2011, 12:06:48 am »
Hi I am Deniser.  Thank you for the replies to my first question ladies - and I will try the breads you have recommended. What a great forum this is.
A couple of months ago I went along to a demonstration for a workfriend.  I went in with the attitude of "huh - I'm not spending that much money on a machine!" and I left two hours later absolutely hooked.
I had not actually ordered my TMX but the following week when my trusty Kenwood Chef (It was only 25 years old too) decided to give up the ghost I rang up Lyn and David and said bring it on down.

I have stuck to the basic recipes just to get used to the machine but have spend quite some time browsing through the forum and getting ideas.  At the moment I have another batch of rolls in the oven - my husband loves them and it is just so quick, easy and satisfying to make them myself.

So I am looking forward to many more pleasant exchanges and thanks again for your help.
