make sure you have your seal back in your lid before making things, particularly those with liquid

Hope it wasn't beetroot juice - you should also put some extra protection around the gap between MC and lid when blitzing that stuff - unless you like a spattering of purple across the walls and floors.

ha ha..i was going to post the same thing...ive have done that at least 3 times this week!!!
first time was making cheese sauce....yuk
next was grating chocolate....went everywhere!
then making tapenade! - i even didnt check all the olives were pitted and there were a few seeds in there, so as well as checking the seal, make sure there are no pips in your olives as its a right pain the butt to have to sift through and get the bits out!!

And make sure that you have the spatula or measuring cup in the lid when you're making ice cream.  Especially blueberry ice cream. Blueberries can stain walls....permanently. (One of DH's first ice cream making experiences)

I won't admit to anyone that I put mango sorbet all over the kitchen the other day. It was so sticky to clean up.

I have never forgotten to put the seal back in... until AFTER I read this post. It's jinxed me :P Luckily I wasn't mixing anything messy.  :D

Another thing I learnt on the weekend... make sure your dh hasn't put the thermomix bits away without putting it all back together (not that he probably knows how to put it back together). It doesn't work well when the sugar falls down thru the hole in the bottom coz the blade isn't in properly. ::)

My seal has been kind to me, if it isn't clicked into place, the lid just won't go back on which makes me check to see what is going on.  So far I've been lucky I guess and as I'm the only one who uses it there will be no-one else to blame when the inevitable happens!  As a kid I opened my Mum's pressure cooker once whilst it was cooking and pearl barley went all over the ceiling, the walls and my face but I was more worried about what Mum was going to say when she saw the mess than the state of my red face. Needless to say, I never owned one as an adult - they terrified me from that day on.
