You're lucky having a figure.  ACtually I do too come to think of it - -figure 0. That's the only downfall of the TMX, but what the heck, a few more laps around the lake.  As one of our radio guys says " a controlled stagger."

A normal slice tray. I know it's 7 inch by 11 inch.  Have just checked a ruler it's about 18 or 19cm by 28cm.

Date and Sultana Crunch

Ingredients
125g dates
60g sultanas
rind and juice of 2 oranges
200g rolled oats
45g flour
185g butter
1/3 cup sugar

Method
Check the dates for seeds and place in bowl. Speed 5 for 2 seconds.
Add the sultanas.
Make up the orange juice to 1 cup of liquid with water and add to the bowl.
Cook 5 minutes at 60o on  ^^.
Then liquify this by using Speed 5 for 10 seconds. It doesn't need to be smooth.
Remove this and cool.

Place rolled oats and flour  into  *:.
Mix  :-: and ^^ for 10 seconds.
Add the butter. Speed 3 for 20 seconds.
The mixture should come together.
Add the sugar and rind. Speed 3 for 10 seconds.

Press half the mixture into a slice tray that has been greased.
Spread with fruit filling.
Sprinkle rest of oat mixture onto the fruit and press down.
Bake in a 190 degreeC oven for about 35 minutes.

This can be served warm as a dessert with custard or as a slice with coffee.

The next time I make it I will place all the oat mixture as a base and sprinkle almond pieces over the fruit mixture.

This was loosely based on a Margaret Fulton recipe.

Welcome Vivi. It takes a little time to get your head around the Thermomix but it all soon becomes second nature.
I hope you enjoy the forum and your machine.

I'm going to convert a strawberry fool from a magazine for dinner and make a Date and Sultana slice.  Will post the slice recipe and if the other is a success will do that too.

Judy if you are a Wally you are very precious-that was my Dad's name.

I'm not that good with my cookies. I just throw them onto the tray. If the recipe makes more or less I don't really worry. Very rich cookies I try to keep small but others, who cares?

Pear jam is a new concept to me. It sounds rather nice though. It would taste lovely on bread with cheese!!! I can hear the yuks, but I love jam and cheese.
Thanks for the recipe, hope it's helpful.

Jams and Chutneys / Re: Portuguese Pumpkin Jam

Does the jam taste of pumpkin at all? I would like to try it but am not really fond of pumpkin flavours.
I remember as a child on the rare occasions Mum would buy jam she would point out to us that it often had pumpkin in to act as a filler for the jam and you could never taste it then.

Fantastic pictures by the way.
