Tomato-ey Smoked Chickpeas with Rice

Grill 1 red capsicum (skin side up) until the skin is bubbling and burnt.  Peel once cool.
Blitz ½ cup almonds to make almond.  Set aside.
Place capsicum, 2 shallots (or 1 onion), and 2 cloves of garlic in.  Blitz until diced.
Add some EVOO, and cook on 100c for 3 minutes, speed 1.
Add ½ tsp dried thyme, 1 ½ tbspn smoked paprika, 1 tbspn brown sugar, and 2 tbspn tomato paste.  Cook on 100c for 2 minutes, speed 1.
Add 1x400g tin crushed tomatoes, 1x400g tin chickpeas (drained and rinsed), ¾ cup cauliflower chopped into small pieces, and 2 cups water.  Cook on 100c for 25 minutes, reverse, speed 1.
Add almond meal and cook on 100c for 5 minutes, reverse, speed 1.

Place into thermoserver (I like to add some baby spinach leaves for a bit of colour)
Then cook rice and serve with the chickpea topping.

Chit Chat / Re: Do your children have to help around the house?

The things that you mentioned are just things I would consider as being a part of a family!  It's just picking up after yourself.  To me, I would consider things like mowing the lawn, washing dishes, vacuuming etc as actual chores.  Making your bed or taking your dishes to the sink are just things that every single person in the house has to do as part of being alive!

I got a reply.  Here is what they said

You would certainly be reaping more benefits by utilising rapadura sugar. Only some vitamins and minerals are perished, or lowered during baking, so therefore a lot will still remain. It is mainly just Vitamin E and C that are destroyed by heat, therefore most will still remain.

give clove oil a try.  I have a solution made up in a spray bottle (1 litre I think) and have about a dozen drops in it.  You'll need more if you were to soak in a bucket or your washing machine.

yeah, mine has a few nicks in it, I would say it's quite normal.  (FTR, I'm right handed)

I have a gas cooktop and gas oven.  It's a freestanding Emilia brand.  I'm happy with mine  :)  It cooks everything evenly.  I only have a small 600mm one and would like a bigger one as I really have to wriggle my big lasagne dish in so it fits, but cooking wise it's great.

Chit Chat / Re: Peanut Butter question

I would probably roast them first.  I never add any oil to my peanut butter.  Peanuts are full enough of their own natural oils that there really is no need for any more.

I just made this to put on some scones.  I personally think it needs to be a bit more apricot-y.  I did use the dried apricot method though, whether or not that made any difference.  I think I will soak some more dried apricots, finely chop, and mix through my existing mixture to make it a bit more apricot-y and add a bit of texture too.

ok, email is sent!  Hopefully she might have some insight

yes, I have read that before and it great for telling me how rapadura is produced and the health benefits over other types of sugar.  But my main concern is, that once it gets put in a cake mix and then put in the oven, does it then lose all it's vitamins and minerals because it's been exposed to a high heat.

nope.  It was in the oven for about 45 minutes, so it would have cooked in there.  However I often put raw onion etc in my cooking if I know it's going in the oven.

no, I didn't contact them.  From my googling I couldn't come to any kind of answer either.

well, I'll answer my own question.  I decided not to bother cooking them before putting in and it turned out nice.  I also put feta in mine and it was super yum!
