Darn you Gert  ...  You made me laugh. (has taken me a while to regain control of internal organs and err... external....never mind - WAY too much information!)

No more Gert, please no more! :o ;D

Thank you everyone else for the get well wishes. Didn't mean to make you laugh, but guess it is safer than me!

Make those last memories special for everyone then INAID. Take lots of photos.
We did that for my Grandma, us grandies and the great grandies (I did share my story in here somewhere) and it was very very special. We have photos on the wall and the kids all comment on it a lot and say they have wonderful memories of that special weekend.

I have finally succumbed to getting the lurgy. I dare not laugh in case I have a coughing fit and either...
a: wet myself
b: fart uncontrollably
c: cough up a lung
d: all of the above
 :o :o :o :o

Fortunately I kept everything together yesterday when I was out, so did not embarrass myself. Although it is pretty hard to keep legs crossed, bottom cheeks clamped firmly together and not lose any internal organs when coughing.  :o :P

Today I am home and downing my favourite juice...fresh oranges, lemons and a good chunk of fresh ginger all whizzed up in the thermy.

I will get better!

Write it down Astarra, these treasured sayings are soon forgotten!

Although after Miss 3 watching Daddy put lots of chilli sauce on dinner one night she piped up "does chilli make you silly Daddy, or does it just make you fart?"

I have never forgotten that one!

Inart, thanks for the pics, brings back a few more memories!

My hubby sailed into Cooktown late one night, wind was blowing a gale, engine on the yacht was intermittent at best, tide was out and as he radioed the harbourmaster he said "sorry you won't get in, you draw to much and the tide is out". Hubby replied "I'm coming in do or die, it's blowing a gale out here and have no where to anchor up for the night, need repairs done, see you soon!"   He laid the yacht over just a bit more, sailed in and tied up at the wharf. I don't think the harbourmaster was overly impressed, our dog was sea sick and very much over the other guy on board, hubby was glad to be on solid ground and able to fix a few things, I was happily living it up in a hotel (paid for by work!) ... til he arrived at Yorkey's Knob and I had to clean up after them being 2 weeks at sea, 2 blokes and a dog. Not pretty!

Well done Cookie, sleep in for you tomorrow!

Miss 13 says thanks all, she'll mend, is still in her jammies and has been in and out of bed all day as she also has come down with a cold!

Hubby and I have been in and out trying to lay garden bricks around the garden, has been a lazy-ish kinda day due to the rain. Tanks are overflowing, fertiliser is well watered in and the bricks we have put down look awesome. Although I think we'll need another pallet...my measurements were a bit off!

Get better wishes your way Astarra for the kidlets.

Miss 13 came home with ice on her wrist from school yesterday, said she'd run into a boys hip while playing sport. She said it was a bit sore, but ok. Bit later on she says "Mum it is starting to throb and my fingers are a bit tingly" Great! So we feed the horses, go round to my friends and feed hers and the dog, get in the shower, make sure dinner is sorted for Miss 17 and girlfriends (had to get all that done first...!) then down to Swannies ED.
They were great, 30 minutes there, then round to the AH GP, then an xray, then the doc again, then a half cast on due to suspected fracture. Back home in 3 1/2 hours.  Should only be on for a week which is good.
Needless to say we were starving when we got home and the girls had made pizzas for us...we inhaled them!

Cuilidh - isn't it amazing that you can now smell/taste all those nasties!?

If we are ever given a bought cake/bikkie/something, the girls can sniff out additives a mile off. They are funny though, they will eat one piece in front of the person, rave and say "oh yummy" and then say "no more thank you I'm in training and have to watch what I eat" (the occasional white lie doesn't hurt does it ??) Then later they'll both be saying to me "oh gross Mum, all I could smell was chemicals!"

So yes - our tastes have certainly changed!!

I'll be keeping an eye on this as we go to the beach every weekend with the horses in summer. (only time I like going!)

We only go for the morning, so pack a cake or similar for us, tea, coffee plunger etc. The boys get hay and cordial (molasses water) so they're easy!

HELP! I have had my TMX for nearly 2 years.
I feel like my slow speed settings (soft and speed 1) have become uncalibrated.... Lately when I have been cooking dishes on reverse and slow speeds even when I have pre-cut the ingredients to bigger sizes they are coming out as mince after sauteeing... I wish I could post pictures of the consistency.
Also it seems to be stalling a reasonable amount when stirring things like meat sauces like curry etc.
Any one have any similar experiences? Someone did suggest getting my machine "serviced" does this exist??
Dramb, not too sure if this will be any help but...you can call your consultant, they may be able to help you regarding your question. Or call HO and ask to have a consultant contact you if you don't have one any more.
I'm not sure why your food in turning to mince!
If it is stalling while cooking it could be due to a bigger piece of food sticking under the blades and not being able to turn.

Hi and welcome melam  :)

I've got to be honest and say that I don't really compare prices on store vs thermy food anymore. I just know that if I make it from scratch - like mayo - then it is going to be a lot better for me regardless of the cost. (plus my kids tell me off if I do buy mayo and they refuse to eat it!!)

There are a couple of exceptions for me...butter. I just can't be bothered and I do use a fair bit when I am baking. That is one I find easier to buy.
Strawberry jam - we don't eat a lot of it and no-one likes the home made version, so I buy it.

I have seen a cost comparison somewhere, so there'll be one out there that someone has done.

Enjoy your new Thermomix when it comes and have a good look around in here, loads of recipes  :)
