Title: Blades in TM 5
Post by: cookie1 on February 26, 2020, 06:27:34 am
I’m in the middle of making bread with my 5 and the blades have stopped.  I took all the dough out and finished it in the 31. Has anyone had this happen please? I guess it’s the 5 version of the blades being stripped.  I will HO tomorrow.

Thank goodness you had your TM31 as backup Cookie.

Very true. I’ve asked around and it looks as though the blades are stripped. They cost $115 to get new ones.

They didn't last long, Cookie, is it still under guarantee?

It doesn’t seem that long but I bet it’s much longer than we think.  How long have you had it cookie?

Would you believe almost 6 years! I was surprised.  I realise how much I use the machines, as having only 1 available to me today was hard. I can get the blades from a local lady who is a consultant. However she is away this weekend- it’s a long weekend here.

Cookie, we do use our TMX a lot for bread.  I think this is what may give them a hard life.  Not telling anyone this.  ;D
Good old 31.  My other 2  31’s that I gave to DD and DIL are still going strong after 11 years.  DIL had hers serviced and new blades.

Yes I agree about the bread making and the blades Chookie. Like you I wouldn’t tell anyone. I may admit to making a loaf once in a blue moon. I had a slice of rye bread at a friends the other day. Talk about tasteless cardboard.

Cookie, not only does the commercial stuff taste awful it also upset my tum. Also, I bought some very expensive Italian Panettone to try.  I opened the packet and we had a slice each.  I left it in the original wrapper and 3 months later it was just like it was when I opened it.  OMG what was in it to keep it soft and not grow mould.

Have you seen how long commercial bread lasts in the compost!

Marina, that is a thought.   I haven’t bought commercial bread for over 6 months.  The remains of homemade bread go to the Chooks.  They love it. Must make a loaf today.

Did you know that blades could shear off? I didn’t! I went and picked up my new blades from a consultant this morning. Came home (after calling at the little Italian deli) and they wouldn’t fit. I called the lady and she was in my area and came round. She asked where the Botton piece of the blade was? It was still in my machine. It had sheared off for some reason.  I can’t complain as it has done a lot of cooking and bread making over the 6 years.
The new blades are in and all seems well.
The new blades are on the left. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200304/e538b1f4aeb72887e0f805c8ee0a162d.jpg)

I'm glad you got that sorted quickly Cookie.  Hopefully you'll get a good few years of bread making out of the new ones.  :D

Wow Cookie, you sure did give your TMX a good lot of work.  Nice to having it go again.
