Peach Kuchen (with photo)
« on: September 13, 2010, 07:58:25 am »
[bPeach Kuchen:[/b]
6-8:
Ingredients:
A plain cake cooked in a 20 x 30cm tin.  I used the EDC chocolate cake and left out the cocoa, just putting in extra flour.
1 x 825g tin sliced peaches or any other fruit.
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
¼ cup sugar (I used raw)
½ teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation:
Prepare the cake. No need to cool it.
Drain the fruit and arrange over the cake.
Mix together sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the fruit.
Put sour cream and egg into the *: and whizz together on speed 5 for about 5 or 6 seconds.
Pour this over the fruit.
Bake at 1800 for about 20 minutes.
This can be eaten hot or cold. It is nice as a dessert and with tea or coffee.

Tips/Hints:
This is an old recipe. I can remember Mum making it when sour cream was just becoming fashionable. I think someone had won a cooking competition with it.(A bake off I think)

Thanks Cookie for the conversion and the reminder of this dish - I initially made this years ago from a recipe from the old "Bake Off" book.  I used to have this as a recipe for the year 9s to cook in class as a recipe using convenience foods as we used a pkt cake mix.
Cheers  :) :)

Aah memories. I have the "Bake Off" book somewhere. I remember it all happening and the excitement that we coould buy a book of the recipes. There was a lovely one in there for a big sausage roll thing too I think. I must have a dig around.

Thanks for this Cookie,  my friends who had the cafe said this was one of the most popular slices.  Thanks for converting.  I also have the Bake Off book.
