Yes, they do look pretty, but not pretty enough for that price!  Easy enough just to resuse bottles or buy some for a couple of dollars.

Just trying to make these right now as I was going to give these to my DH for valentines day.   So, I don’t know what I did wrong as I followed the instructions to a tee, but I’m pretty sure mine are not right. I used hazelnuts instead of almonds and added some cocoa, but that was the only difference. My batter is very thick and seems gritty but the hazelnut seemed well ground up when I did that.

The mixture was so thick that I basically had to just pipe the outside of the circle and then use a spoon to spread it to the inside.  Also, because it's so thick I think I’ll be lucky to get 24 halves made. Just about to put them in the oven now and hoping that they’ll at least taste nice once they’re done, but guessing they’re not going to have that same nice texture.

Any thoughts on what went wrong?  I'm guessing it's something to do with the hazelnut?

I don't have any ice cubes at the moment, do you think it would be possible to make this without them?  And just add some cold water instead?

Chit Chat / Strawberries, strawberries, strawberries!
« on: September 02, 2012, 01:41:15 am »
So, I picked up two bucket fulls of strawberries at my local markets this morning!  :)  Yum yum!  They're mostly seconds type ones, but will still be definitely eating some of them.  I'll probably freeze one bucket to make sorbet with.  But I need some ideas on what else I could do with strawberries.  We're not big jam eaters so making jam is out.

Thanks  :)

I see that the copied cake pops recipe was recipe of the day last week.  I also note that your comment has been removed ;)  Very dodgy!

Recipe Requests / Re: agar agar jelly recipe
« on: August 24, 2012, 08:04:15 am »
I made this today and I'm not keen.  It set VERY hard and has a floury kind of consistency to it.  I didn't pour it over the top of fruit, just set it as is for regular jelly.

Any ideas on what to do differently?  I'm thinking maybe less agar agar?

Very strange.  I mean, why would they even bother?  I know before I put up my recipe for the baby food comp, I did a quick google search for the recipe to see if there were any thermomix recipes out there already before I put mine up.  It doesn't take long to do that to just check that you're not copying someone else already.

I see she's only a new poster, so maybe she doesn't understand how it all should work yet?

thanks Pippa, that was really interesting.  As a vegetarian I am only too aware of the multitude of food groups that offer calcium, iron etc etc that are not mainstream or not heavily promoted.  I hadn't done much reading about cheese though so that was interesting to read about the opiates.  Do all cheeses have them?  As in, is it an essential component in making cheese?  Would be interested to know if you bought a non mass produced cheese whether they would be the same.

Despite my claims earlier about cheese, tomato sauce and dessert, I do exaggerate a bit with that.  I know full well that none of these things are good long term as an everyday occurence to promote well rounded eating habits.  As far as toddlers go she's quite a good eater, but as we know with toddlers, there are those days, and on those days it's just not worth the battle!

There are a lot of holier than thou parents around on the internet.  Apparently yoghurt and sultanas are a no-no too because they contain so much sugar  :-))

Basically, if cheese and tomato sauce didn't exist, along with dessert bribery, my toddler DD wouldn't be eating a whole lot!

I think that was a great reply Pippa!

And congratulations on having your recipe as recipe of the day!  I reckon you were a close contender for winning the baby food competition ;)

I don't know what the bimby looks like.  But this one is just a mini replica of the TM31.

.  It's a kiddie size thermomix.  It apparently does work, but just to do smoothie type stuff.

Very cute, but not sure I would pay that much for it.

My Mum has had several sales where a husband has organised one as a surprise birthday or Christmas present for his wife and there's been no problems.  She's just done the delivery demo and the 'party' at a later date.

I never said it was a problem but not really the surprise he had in mind, my consultant was/is  wonderful very helpful and only a phone call away if I have a question, she wasn't pushy, very friendly and informative and as I said before the 1.5hrs  I  got with her when she delivered my machine was brilliant as was my demo but what I was trying to say was the demo really wasn't  necessary for me

Sorry, I don't think problem was the right word.  What I mean was, she happily ordered the machine and gave it to the husband for them to give as a surprise.  She then did all the demos afterwards when it was convenient.

As far as the demos go, I don't think you HAVE to have one, except for the delivery demo which is just one on one anyway.  The only reason you have to have a party demo is to get one of the incentives.  Of course the consultants will push you to have one as it means more potential contacts for them.
