The Chooks love the kitchen scraps.  I saved the fat from the ham and give them a little each morning. Occasionally if there isn’t enough or they are not pleased with the scraps they will peck me on the leg. I don’t give them names as I get too upset when they die. I have had Chooks continuously for 40 years.

I love chooks Chookie. At our previous house the lady next door had a few chooks. They loved bacon rind and capsicum seeds. Sadly they were killed by a fox, even though the wire fence had been dug down into the ground.

I received an email from Alyce Alexander a few days ago with a link to this recipe.  When I read her little spiel about it I knew I had to give it a go as it really appealed.

I only made half the recipe as it's only for me and it still made plenty and it will keep in the fridge.  I have eaten it for the past 4 mornings and I have really enjoyed it. 

I can understand why they take it with them when away as everywhere you stay has an electric kettle so it would be a perfect and healthy start to your day. 

When we travel by road it's usually a very early start and I usually don't feel like anything before we leave home. I can see myself making this in a keep warm cup (minus the fruit) then when hungry can just add some fruit and eat. I haven't tried it cool/cold as yet but I don't think I'd mind it at all.

I've found the perfect combo is 70g of the dry ingredients with 125g boiling water, stir and sit for 5 mins.  I didn't need to add any more water to it, just the toppings.

Keep it in a container in the fridge, one that has room enough for the contents to move around well when you give it a shake before scooping some out.

Today's was served with half a banana, 1 1/2  quartered strawberries, a few blueberries, a little bit of nectarine and a sprinkle of hemp seeds.

Judy, it's not really a hot meal as by the time it has sat for 5 mins a lot of the heat has gone out of it, unless you re-heat or add more boiling water of course.  I'm so enjoying it and Alyce's claim of ' it moves the crap out of your system',  I can confirm to be true.  ;D

This morning I had a home grown and cooked breakfast.  Scrambled egg with parsley on home made grain bread.

I've had it every morning since I made up the batch.  I can honestly say my inner workings has never felt as good!  The half batch using 70g/serve lasts a week. 

I had the last of it yesterday and made another lot so I wouldn't miss a day.  If I'm still feeling the same at the end of this batch I will then make up the full amount so I won't have to worry about it for a couple of weeks. Keep it in the fridge.

I'm sure I'll have a break for a day now and then, but I'm really enjoying the benefits.  I change up the fresh fruit to what I have in at the time.  :D

I’ve just made a half batch of this. I didn’t add any sweetener as I didn’t think I would need it. I decided I HAD to try it. I really love it, it’s plenty sweet enough for me. I added the boiling water and then added 1/4 cup milk and it was plenty. I’m going out for lunch so I hope this will make me full and I will only have a light salad for lunch. My serve was about 49g.

I think it's good to try these things Cookie.  Do the week if you can and see if you feel the benefits I'm feeling, I will be interested to know.  ;D
