Chit Chat / Market Stall Ideas
« on: September 26, 2010, 08:15:34 am »
Hi everyone

I have recently moved to a beautiful little country town in WA. They have a market on here once a month and the same at a few of the surrounding towns. A lot of the ladies seem to sell homemade jams, lemon butters and the likes. I was thinking I might like to start a little stall myself and spice things up a little with the aide of my thermo! It won't make me much money I know, but it would be a good little hobby that if I can get enough confidence in doing I think I might enjoy, especially making up a label and some product infor, recipe idea sheets etc.

Some ideas so far include Tikka Paste, Dukkah, Spice Rubs. Just hoping for ideas from others as to what they have found works/doesn't work, ideas for products, prices, legalities, where to buy jars etc.

Thanks, Katherine

Recipe Requests / All Bran Loaf - Anyone have a good recipe?
« on: July 31, 2010, 12:55:35 pm »
Hi all

As a child I remember my dad cooking a loaf with all bran. Anyone have a good recipe for this using TM? If I recall correctly it might also have had dates in it?

Any other healthy slices, loaves, muffins, biscuits also appreciated. My love of Thermomix is making me fat so have recently joined weight watchers!!!

Thanks, Katherine

Chit Chat / TM Cookbooks in Libraries?
« on: May 22, 2010, 02:08:44 pm »
Just a quick question, has anyone seen any TM cookbooks in libraries (WA)? I have not gotten around to looking yet, but thought it could be a good idea to borrow some before committing to buying?

Vegetarian / Roasted Pumpkin and Gorgonzola Risotto
« on: May 22, 2010, 01:56:39 pm »
Roasted Pumpkin and Gorgonzola Risotto

Number of People:
4-6

Ingredients:
500-800g pumpkin, cubed and pre-roasted in oven (200 degrees, approx 40mins)
1 leek, white only, roughly chopped
1 clove garlic
350g arborio rice
50g olive oil
1L Water
2tsp vegetable stock
50g gorgonzola cheese

Preparation:
Place leek and garlic in TM bowl and chop for 5 seconds on speed 7
Add oil and saute for 2 minutes at 100degrees , reverse, soft speed
Insert butterfly
Add rice, water and stock and cook for 16 minutes at 100degrees, reverse, soft speed
Add half the rosted pumpkin, cook for 2 minutes at 100degrees, reverse, soft speed
Pour risotto into dish and stir through remaining pumpkin and gorgonzola cheese

Tips/Hints:

The gorgonzola in this dish makes the risotto very rich and creamy.

It is delicious served on it's own, though my new favourite way is to create a bed of the risotto and serve with a chicken breast that has been stuffed with pesto (TM), wrapped in prosciutto and baked in the oven, with rocket on the side. Hmm, great for dinner parties.

PS - I am only very new to TMixing and this forum but am loving every minute of my cooking and getting ideas from these boards, hope you enjoy my suggestion here

Chit Chat / Cooking times??
« on: May 17, 2010, 06:52:29 am »
Hi there

I am new to this forum and fairly new to my thermomix. Now I have a question.... hope it will not sound silly. But, the cooking times. When following recipes from my basic TM books I first set time, then temperature then speed. I notice that it takes a while to get to temperature. So if it says 1 min, 100 degrees, speed 5 it is not even at 100 degrees before it stops. Can someone please explain how I should be going about this situation to ensure I am cooking correclty (if it even makes sense as I have written it!!)

Also how do I know when to cook with or without the little clear lid thing?

Thanks

Introduce Yourself / Someone else new - just moved to Perth (HELLO)
« on: May 13, 2010, 02:17:03 pm »
Hi All

Just wanted to say hi. I am new on here. I have just moved from the NW of WA down to Perth. I bought my Thermomix about 3 months ago but is has been out of action for about a month in transit and then waiting to be unpacked. Am loving using it again, it is still such a novelty. I have heaps to learn and look forward to getting tips, advice and recipes on this forum. Many others from Perth? I would love to join in some cooking classes or get-togethers if you have any.

Thanks
