Condiments and Sauces / Tartare sauce
« on: November 27, 2011, 03:50:42 am »
Just wondering if anyone has made the tartare sauce recipe from the EDC? Can they tell me what it's like OR does anyone have a successful recipe for it?

Thought we'd have fish for dinner tonight and hubby piped up and said "it would be good if we had some Tartare Sauce".

Me being me and wanting to make every use of my TMX as I can, I've got a bee in my bonnet and want to make it from scratch.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.  ;D

Bread / Re: Hints on proving bread on a cooler day?

Prior to my Thermomix days when cooking was very laborious! I used to put the dough on a tray covered in glad wrap over a bowl of boiling water. On the really cold days I would even warm teatowels in the microwave an wrap it all up in them.

I've not had any trouble since getting my Thermie and the mat. Partners in crime they are!  ;)

Good luck!

PS How old is your yeast? If that is a few weeks old it might be past it's effective date.

To test your yeast - place one teaspoon of yeast and one teaspoon of sugar into a glass.  Add quite warm water and stir. Leave to stand for approx 10 minutes.  After doing this, if there is more than about 10mm of foam in the glass, then the yeast is still active.  If not, your yeast wont give you the best results.

Hope this helps!

So excited to have this recipe converted.

My neighbour was asking me about making these the the TMX just last week and I promised him I would make him some.

Now I have all the hard work of converting done for me!

Thanks a million!

 ;D

I'm going to be the best neighbour in the street!

Jams and Chutneys / Re: Lemon Butter - Meaganjane's CWA recipe

I've only ever tried making lemon butter once and it was quite runny. Still yummy but not the ideal consistency.

I think I will be giving this recipe a good go.  Thanks so much MJ!!!

I have been looking for this recipe for ages since the forum ladies mentioned it at the Peth get together. Finally it has surfaced so I've written it into my book.

I'm so glad to find it and can't wait to make it. I've got some dodgy tomatoes in the fridge as we speak that are looking for a healthy way for disposal. Guess where they're heading???  ;D

Thanks so much Cathy.

I've just enrolled to do a Nutrition & Diet course via correspondence so I should be able to claim that then?

I'll have a good seach on the ATO site.

Appreciate your help.

Any tips on things we can claim besides our ingredients and travelling expenses? I probably should get in contact with an accountant but they're going to sting the hip pocket immensely.

Thanks Kathryn,
I'll be patient and wait. I want to complete my series. That's the only one I have missing at the moment.  ;D

I'll keep my ears to the ground!

Can you still get this book? Does anyone have a spare copy they would sell?
I didn't think we could get it anymore?  ???

I'm in a similar boat. I'm seriously thinking about calling Centrelink and stopping my fortnightly payments so I don't end up having to pay money back.

It's very hard to predict your income with TMX. It's all well and good to have goals but they aren't a true indication of your income earnings. I've sold more machines than I ever anticipated which is wonderful but scary when it comes to Centrelink and Tax!

Good luck with your training!

I gave my 4 ingredient cookbook away. Didn't like all the processed stuff. Felt like it was cheating really.
I like making from scratch, not packets!

I've just got the manual one too Frozzie so I tend to only make pasta on the odd rainy day.
My sister in law has the kitchen aid attachment too and makes pasta often.
Good luck with your decision.  If you love pasta, it's probably worth the investment.  ;)

That's hilarious!

Not sure I'd be game enough to do it though?  ???

I wish I wasn't so conservative and just threw caution to the wind.

I don't think Thermomix would endorse me demonstrating with a pimped TM31? :-\ Bummer. I have to earn a second machine.  :D

Looks like choc chip cookies and ice cream on the menu then! What a yummy combination. And portuguese tarts. Yummmmm! What a shame it has to be all sweet stuff.  :-)) ;) :D

Oh well, I can't have them going to waste but all the cooking will be going on my waiste and hips and thighs...... ;D
