Mars Bars
« on: March 10, 2011, 07:50:31 pm »
The conversation I had with my 15 yr old DS while he was eating some Dulche de Leche (thank you for the recipe by the way...super delicious!!) He'll eat this on pancakes, bread, a spoon, even his finger!!!

DS: Mum, Can you make your own chocolate?

Me: I have seen a recipe for making chocolate on the forum. Depends what you want to make. I could just melt some buttons.

DS: Can you make nougat?  The soft type, not the hard type.

Me: I could see if there is a recipe on the forum, or find one and convert it.

DS: So, you can make caramel, if you can make chocolate and nougat, then we can make our own Mars Bars! How cool would that be....we can make them whenever we like and have heaps!!!

As you can tell from our conversation, Mars bars are his favourite treat!!!

So do we have a soft nougat recipe anyone? He is a bit of a food cirtic!! Thanks in advance.

Terstoo give your DS high marks for deduction. ;D ;D ;D ;D Good on him.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Thanks for the link Frozzie, will definitely check it out.

Cookie1, He is pretty good at thinking what we can make with our TMX, of course all the stuff he likes....Mars bars, marshmallow (did that the other day) different ice creams and sorbets. Notice the type of food he likes, :D but he is skinny as a stick so that is probably why he thinks like that.  ;D

Well i have not really read the declaration on Mars bars but Nougat made of a mix of sugar and roasted nuts.

Nuts or no nuts. I'm there either way! These sound delish.  ;D
