Thermomix boiling over
« on: November 15, 2013, 08:39:49 am »
I'm having trouble when steaming veggies in the TM with it boiling out the top of the MC hole.

How much water do other use when steaming veggies? And what speed would be best?
I usually have around 900ml water, a basket full of potatoes then other veggies in the varoma.
It never use to do it to me. And it's causing my TM to have error 31 (moisture)

I just checked the quantity in Full Steam Ahead Mandi and came up with this information

If you are steaming vegies for 30 minutes you need 500 mls water

For each 15 minutes extra, you need an extra 250 mls water

Having said that, I often have more than 500mls and have never had it boil over.

Ok, well I steam for 35 minutes with 800 - 900 mls of water. So maybe it's just way to much. I will cut down to 600mls and see how I go. I was just worried about boiling dry but I don't think it would.

Gosh I never measure the water but the bowl is only  half full I figure just enough so that it does not use up all the water for the time and I use 2 or 3 . I have never had it run dry after 30 minutes with half full on 2.
