Hi everyone
MJ posted a link I think within the last month about steak done in the varoma. You made a sauce and then vac sealed it cook in varoma and then cooked for a minute in a pan but cannot find it again. I should have printed it when I saw it. Does anyone remember seeing it?
Thanks
Yvette

Yvette someone will no doubt know where but just letting you know there is way to find a particular persons's posting by clicking on their name and going to recent posting of that person. Might be faster than waiting for an answer.

Question please:
I cooked the steamed steaks I haven't used my Varoma much (only once actually) when putting the water in TM bowl should it be boiled first? I used Varoma for 8 mins should it be Speed 1? It didn't reach Varoma temp until 7 mins so steak hadn't done much, I then did for another 4 mins then pan seared. The steaks were beautiful restaurant quality.
Thanks

Yvette, I can't believe you are not using your varoma :o :o However, that's another story.
Here's (http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3500.0) another thread from our forum on steaming steaks, have a read of that.
I rarely use speed 1 when cooking in the varoma, usually speed 3 but some use speed 4. It really gets the steam going and seems to do it's job quicker. I can't remember if I started off with boiling water when I did steamed steak but generally I do for vegies.

Thanks Judy will try boiling water next time and speed 3 :)

Sorry, haven't been able to access Internet. I probably guessed at the time I steamed the steaks. I probably did add hot water as I usually do.
I'll make these steaks again and carefully check times.

Thanks MJ they were delish

Glad they worked out Yvette. I don't think I added a huge amount of water either, probably 500g as I wasn't cooking anything else the first time I did the steaks.
-
Thanks MJ I will try them again soon. Do you remember what speed you cooked them?
-
I would have just used speed 2. If I'm cooking potatoes as well, I do speed 4.

Thanks MJ :)
