Cookie1+netbook+wireless modem=?
« on: February 02, 2010, 04:47:19 am »
Well I now have the netbook and the wireless modem. ??? ??? A..n..d I'm now to scared to have a go at installing it all and seeing if I can get it going. I keep telling myself I have to do the bathrooms first and then the ironing and make some cookies and......etc.
I think I'll wait until DD gets home to stand by me. If she's late I have book club   so then it will be tomorrow.
How hard can it be? A grown woman being scared of a little netbook. :'( :'( :'( What a woose.

I'll keep you informed.  I would much rather play with my TMX. ;D ;D ;D

I can understand how daunting it is for you Cookie1.  I had a friend set me up when I bought my laptop home 20 months ago and if this one carks it, I will be out there quick smart buying a brand new one and be in the same predicament you are.  Hope DD gets home in time or maybe she can do it whilst you are out at book club.  Don't know what that button is but stay right away from it or you might lose us all.  Then, how would you sleep at night  ;D ;D ;D :-* :-* :-* :-*

YIPPEEEEEEEEE. I  did it. I am sending this message from the netbook.  All I have to do now is work out how to set up an email address for this tiny thing.

Congratulations Cookie1 - you are a star. Did you run screaming down the passage to tell DH that you did it  :-)) :-))  I'm afraid I did when I managed to do something I had never done before - i.e. copy parts of threads and not get 7 pages (all with the help of fellow forum users).   :-* :-*

Had a small glitch this morning, so I rang the big T on their help line. After 55 minutes of being transferred all over the world I ended up back at the original place and then they hung up on me! I wasn't impressed. I went and sat and fiddled with the machine and eventually fixed it. The person that taught me how to switch on a computer always insisted that I wouldn't break it so I gave it a go. I am amazed at how I could waste an entire morning on something like that. ??? No TMX or forum.

It's all done now so that is that.

Oh what fun - I know what it is like - I ahd 2 days where the internet wasn't working at the clinic and every time I spoke to Mumbai the little "mate" on the other end had to go and ask their supervisor.  I was never able to talk to the supervisor.

Well done Cookie!. I understand your initial trepidation - I looked at my 1st laptop for 10 minutes before I was able to even turn it on  ;D ;D.  DS1 thought it was hilarious but it was me who got his iPod sync with our wireless internet access point so I had the last laugh  ;D

Oh.  cookie you are a wonder,   you will have so much fun when you are my on hols,  DS (who is a computer wizz) says I can't do any harm.    But he doesn't know just how "creative " his mum can be.    I spent 2 hours last night trying to put photos on my blog and the forum.    Thank goodness Amanda is coming for tea.  When you are away don't be afraid to ask for help.

Wasting an entire morning on your computer Cookie1, I wasted entire days trying to install my printer and was on the phone to the Philippines for hours on end in the beginning but nothing worked. The last chap said he was an expert but I doubted it as I had spoken to many 'experts' but indeed he was and with his help we put in all sorts of figures & letters for a good 20 minutes and hey presto it worked.  He said it happens very rarely but why did it have to happen to me, a completely illiterate computer operator.  Glad I wasn't paying for those phone calls. It stressed me out so much I would just burst into tears at the drop of a hat but I stuck with it and now, although it still takes up a lot of my time, I wouldn't say it was wasted. The only other trouble I had was when Microsoft disconnected quite a few people's printers but fixed the problem the next day.

You will be a computer whiz in no time Cookie1. :-* :-*

I doubt it Judy, but thanks all. If I need help when we are travelling I will look for a nice 10 or 11 year old.
