Hi Karen - yes got some more Velvet today at local Woolworths in laundry isle up with pre-wash stain removers etc.  It's made by Pental Products Pty Ltd and email is enquiries@pental.com.au - you might want to email them to find distributors over there if any.  If you want some sent over let me know.  I think there's about 5 cakes in the box and I got 2 batches of goop from this.

CarolineW - I also found some "Bluo" at woolies (next to the Velvet) which is a optical brightener, which I think is what you were talking about?  It's made by Pascoes Pty Ltd 14 Casino st Welshpool WA 6106.  consumer info 1800 065 326.  Hope that helps.  Again I can send you some if you can't get easily. :)

Hi alioop.  Thanks so much - and you've inspired me to have another go at seeing if I can find it.  I'm trying the new search string of 'laundry brightener', thanks to your posting  :-*  I haven't found a retail outlet as yet, but it gives me a specific name to use other than 'laundry blue' when asking at supermarkets too.  I'll let you know how I get on ...
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

You're very welcome CarolineW  ;D.  I should think that if little old West Aus has a place where it's made that there should be somewhere in the UK that does too  :) (some think we are a bit behind over here in WA  :o, not me of course!! Then again, maybe it just never left the supermarket shelves from the 70's!!)  :-\  ;).

.............and then we need it. I have been guilty of going to small supermarkets hoping that they have something I need on their shelves.
I like the slow pace we have here in WA. Probably matches me, but who cares, I enjoy it.

I have read that excess buubbles created by normal washing detergent is because of the sodium laurel sulphate that the manufacturers.  So this healhier alternative shouldn't froth up as much making it suitable for front (end???) loaders.

katharyne check out the powdered detergent only because number one it smells a whole lot better than the goo and i find it cleans better and most people are now doing the powder as jd mentioned...i have front end loaders and have had no problem with either...but the amonia smell is very strong with the goo.. Judydawn has posted the link just above if you wanted to check it out..
