Since I wrote the above comment,  I am free of the need to use it.  I have identified the cause which is preservative 220.   Unfortunately in most wines and sausages.  These I avoid. :'( :'( :'(

How did you work this out Chookie??

Yes please Chookie. I suffer dreadfully from hayfever and often end up with sinusitis :'( :'( :'( I live on preventative sprays like rhinocort. Had DD home from work with dreadful sinusitis yesterday and it's not even spring.

Yes JD it is awful but I would rather do without.   The Dr.  did a blood test for the normal things that they test for.  Nothing significant showed up.   Then I realized that the nose and head only blocked up when we had visitors or went out for tea.   Then the penny dropped and I realized that the common factor was the wine.  So I made some inquiries and preservative 220 and others in the group,  (which are also in sausages and preserved meats) .  So I avoid them if I can.  We grow a lot of our own vegies,  no sprays.  Cook most things,  now with the TMX,  this cuts out most additives and preservatives.  Hope this helps Cookie and Meagan.

Sounds to me like you will have to start making your own wine too Chookie  :D :D  Home made sausages are easy enough too if you fancy one of those from time to time.  Glad to hear you have beaten the problem though and your information will be useful for others in the same position as you.   Sharing and caring is what it is all about.

JD,  I find that 1/2 a glass for special occasions ,  with food is OK.  Not all doom and gloom.

karenaltmann32  Thanks and Welcome to the forum.

Good to hear (except for the wine) that you know the cause Chookie.  Everything in moderation is what I kept being told.  :-)) :-))

Just wondering if anyone has used sinus flushing for chronic sinus infection? I have had a serious sinus infection for months and am now faced with surgery (steam inhalations and massive courses of antibiotics hasn't touched it). It is my first sinus infection so I'm not up with the treatments??

Sinus flushes are helpful and as someone has already mentioned steroid nose sprays such as Rhinocort are recommended but check with your doctor first.

Chelsea, the best thing to keep them at bay is  salt water. Swimming in the sea is fab. I am a wealth of info on them now as these with other things caused blood clots in my brain.

Rhinocort will def help.

Chelsea I use the FLO system and it worked well but have never had a problem that I was faced WA surgery. A customer of mine has though and that has resulted in several surgeries  :( I hope you get better really soon.

Thanks everyone. Am back to the Dr today so will chat to him about flushes. We head to QLD soon Halley so I might be able to swim in the sea up there (freezing in Tassie waters at the moment).  :)
