Title: Peanut Butter Bonbons- with photos
Post by: Cornish Cream on December 18, 2012, 04:28:19 pm
Peanut Butter Bonbons. Makes approx 24
125g Raisins
125g icing sugar
125g peanut butter
25g butter

50-75g of Plain chocolate if just dipping the top of each bonbon
125g Plain chocolate if dipping the whole bonbon.

1. Melt the butter in the TM bowl 1min 30 sec/37c/ speed 2
2. Add the raisins chop 5sec/speed 6.
3. Add icing sugar and peanut butter chop5sec/ speed 6
4. Scrape down the TM bowl with a spatula and chop again 5sec/speed 6
5.Shape the mixture into balls and leave on parchment paper to harden overnight.
Next day
6. Melt chocolate.(I melted mine in a small bowl over a pan of simmering water. You could use a microwave)
7. Either dip the top if each bonbon in the melted chocolate or like I did carefully dip the whole Bonbon in melted chocolate.Place each bonbon on parchment to thoroughly dry.(I then melted a little white chocolate and drizzled over the set/dry bonbons.) When dry place in petite four papers.

(I suggest if you are experiencing hot weather you chill the bonbons in the fridge.Especially when you have dipped them in chocolate)

I made 25 pieces weighing approx 16g each.

In the second photo I a cut bonbon to show the texture Uni.I used seedless raisins so they shouldn't be gritty. You could try dates ;)
DH was very surprised by the taste and really enjoyed it and wouldn't have if I told him it contained raisins. :-)) He's just had a second :o
DS just loved them.

Bumping this one for Christmas hampers.  I didn't get around to making them last year but I've just done the first stage and will coat them in chocolate in the morning.  I used smooth peanut butter and mine were obviously a little smaller than CC's as I managed to make 30 balls.  So easy to make and roll but with a nice round number of balls I was disappointed I didn't have an odd number so that I could taste one  :-))

All finished, must say I really hate the dipping part of any recipe but when they're all finished you forget about that.  I used milk chocolate instead of dark as it is my preference even though I won't be eating too many of them  :-))  Lovely Christmas treat CC, now to find some nice little patty pans to present them in.

Thanks Denise, if you were here when I made them, you would have been given the dipping job  :D

There were a few more in another container Uni but I did eat a couple, by the time I got to the end of the dipping, the chocolate had started hardening so what's a girl to do but sample one to make sure they are good enough to hand around to visitors. ;D

Made these as a giveaway for friends last weekend and loved them..
They taste soo yumm and as I blitzed the raisins a bit more, you could never say that they had raisins in it :)
Will surely be making them again, a simple recipe to make and looks so professional..

The only part which was a bit fiddly for me was dipping as I have never done it before, but as I kept doing it, got a knack of it,
the next time I am sure they will look a little prettier :)
Thanks CC for sharing a lovely recipe!

I aways find dipping things in chocolate is a messy job thermilover but you certainly did get the hang of it and these little morsels are certainly worth the effort.
