Hi Wonder. If that is the post that I think you are referring to the person concerned actually removed the posts herself/himself.
To my knowledge they weren't booted off and there was no direct link to a store.
From my reading they were from WA is that correct?

Hi cookie, i'm not sure I just remember reading the post and someone questioned if they had read the forums guidelines and then when i was looking for the post couldnt find it again. It still seems to me that nobody has ever questioned Tenina linking to her classes and books/facebook page but are quite quick to jump on others who advertise and i wonder why.

I remember the post Wonder is referring to...

They were selling spatulas and other items, with prices.  There was a link to their Facebook store.
I think it was a girl in WA, because I clicked on her link and looked at her Facebook page.

After they posted the prices, someone asked them had they read the rules of the forum, especially 5.1

Yep, I remember it too. I also assumed the person was kicked out since the person was promoting her wares.

Wonder have you read Tenina's explanation here. Scroll to the bottom of page 2.

To my knowledge no-one has been booted off the forum unless they were spamming with their first posting. The person to whom you refer is still on here.

Girls, this matter is in the hands of MM and hopefully, when he comes on, can clear this up for everyone.

I understand your concern Wonder and possibly others were thinking the same. As Judy suggested have a quick look at Tenina's post.  :D

Morning all from sunny Europe.

I'd like to thank Wonder for raising a very important issue here. It is good that these points are spoken about. And as we are the biggest Anglo-Speaking Thermie community in the universe we also need to change with the times.

The rules that I made were from day 1, and I had no idea in how many would use this forum for spamming. Now we have thousands of members and strong and honest community.

Genuine Spamming issues are now under control (200+ spammers try and enter per day), and our moderators are doing a fantastic job in helping me out with the many daily posts.

To my knowledge, no one has ever been kicked out for posting commercial Thermomix posts.A few have been requested to remove posts, based on the current rules. There have been a few dozen genuine spammers that have slipped through the net and have been booted out and banned almost immediately.

So, the forum moderators and myself are reviewing the current rule 5.1  Like I mentioned above, a good community must adapt to the needs of it's members. My case is that if a member wants to place a link to an external site that can benefit other members with Thermie isses, then I do not see any problem with this. Currently some members place links to their blogs/sites. I encourage this, so that in turn, this forum is seen as a central hub for all things Thermomix. People use this as a valuable source of information.

I will let you know about the outcome of the decision.

Thanks

MM

Thank you MM for your clarity on this issue.  Your sincerity and honesty coupled with your hard work and that of the moderators is fundamental to the life of this forum - our community!!!!  Despite my spectator status as a consequence of where my head is due to the demands of school life, on many occasions my heart is a participant in the life of forum members!!!!!

My copy arrived safely in London thank you Tenina. And thank you for finding a cheaper postage unasked - great service. The book looks gorgeous, can't wait to start cooking form it. I love the section on 'Products I love'. When I get a moment I will start a thread to see if any UK members have ideas on what would be similar products in UK.

Thats such a great attitude because there are so many TM related blogs out there that address different dietary concerns, and suit individual tastes that our members can follow if directed.

Thanks for the clarity MM   :-*

Since opening up the wee Kitchen Kit shop for Thermomix fans and having a few members mention it on the forum, I wasn't sure if/how to respond in public... Please do let me know if I ever step out of line. The forum is such a great club for like-minded (open-minded?) Thermomix enthusiasts and I wouldn't want to jeopardize my membership here in any way  ;)

Happy mixing everyone!
