I'm happy because BIL came through major surgery alive.    We did tell him not to wake up dead as we wouldn't be happy. Marvellous surgeons at Charlie Gairdners. Thanks to all of them.

I must admit we all have a weird sense of humour. When my little brother had a melanoma removed from his foot we kept taking him one sock as we said he wouldn't need two. However he still needs 2 socks 20 years later.
BIL is unable to walk as he has no feeling in his legs but at least he is still with us.

Wonderful news Cookie, BIL probably didn't want risk the consequences of waking up dead. It must be a huge relief for you all.

When I was in a coma in ICU the nurse said that my brother should talk to me, but the only thing he could think to say was "ya can't cark it now Nik, you owe me 20 bucks". Apparently the nurse nearly fell over laughing. I didn't hear a thing! (and I didn't owe him any money - he just wanted to see if he'd get a reaction out of me!!)

Ok her is another one. 25 years ago in June my DH was on his last overseas trip with Qantas just before his retirement  and Super Payout. He got food poisoning in Bangkok at the "No Hands Restaurant" (Don't ask) He was quite ill on the way home and I called the ambo the next day. He wound up losing the lining of his bowel ( pseudomembranous colitis)and after about 10 days in ICU and more than 20 units of blood he was not expected to live through the night. As I left his bed I leaned over and whispered that I would be spending every penny of his super having fun.

Next morning the doctors were surprised that he had rallied overnight and started to get well. It took him months to recover. I tis amazing the power of words eh?

That's what did it Gert, men don't want to part with their money.  When we took my parents on a cruise, Dad used to say 'look at all those women spending their husbands' money'.  Yep, that's what we do
