Title: Cook Key and Cooki-doo. Recipe Comments
Post by: cookie1 on September 25, 2018, 03:59:10 am
I recently decided to interact with Thermomix again and buy a Cook key and the recipes that are then available from Cooki-doo. You get a 6 month subscription of Cooki-doo with the cook key. Naturally being Thermomix you then have to pay $49/year for it. After some fighting with them (I was overcharged for the Cook key!) I hope I have sorted it.
I know there are a few others who also have it so I thought it may be an idea to share what we have cooked and a brief comment on it. Not necessarily a review though. ( I checked with Judy and CC)

Tuscan Bean Soup
This is a meal in itself. We loved it and had it as a meal with bread.

Beef Goulash with Dumplings
From the Oktoberfest book. Very tasty and I will make again. The breadcrumb dumplings were especially nice.

None what so ever really Chookie. You can cook them using the cook key and do it on the 'auto' setting on the thermomix. It is really just another set of recipe books.
I'm finding it different as I hardly ever use the 'auto' on the TM5.

I will certainly be reviewing things when my 6 months free trail is up Chookie. I will assess if the new content is worth it or not.

Ham and Zucchini Slice

I made a half recipe of this. The zucchini is cooked in the Varoma before you make the rest. I found the finished product quite watery compared to other zucchini slices.  I don’t think I will make this recipe again.

The recipe was from the book Zucchini Recipes.

Salmon en Croute

This is from the Salmon dishes book
We really enjoyed it. Even DH who isn’t overly fond of salmon had seconds. It uses fresh and smoked salmon. The recipe has a lemon risotto with it but I didn’t make that.

It used the soft herb and garlic cheese to bind the salmon and smoked salmon together. Very easy but tasty.

Red Beans and Rice with Turkey Meatballs. Recipe from Low(er) GI Collection.
The recipe can also be found here (https://www.recipecommunity.com.au/main-dishes-meat-recipes/red-beans-and-rice-with-turkey-meatballs/12uzc17e-9d870-754098-cfcd2-f1zjldaq).

A very tasty recipe. I followed the recipe ingredients exactly. I made 15 turkey meatballs. Would make the meatballs smaller next time and use the Varoma tray too. The finished recipe makes masses and is very filling, so be warned. LOL

We had the Vegetable Bake with Goat’s Cheese Feta last night. I used cow feta.  It seemed to take ages to make, but I think it would be quicker next time.
I loved CC’s idea of linking.
The recipe is from The Vegetarian Kitchen. It is here (https://cookidoo.com.au/vorwerkWebapp/app#/recipe/8834464301686?singleRecipe=true).  Yippee, after much fiddling I remembered how to do it.

The other night we had a Lentil Curry Stew thing with chicken. I only made a half quantity. It made a lot of sauce, so the next night I added some prawn and squid to the sauce, so it fed it us for 2 nights. It was very nice. I also made some Naan to go with it. Here  (https://cookidoo.com.au/vorwerkWebapp/app#/recipe/8834444444278?singleRecipe=true)it is.

We had the Ricotta Gnocchi from the Ricotta book the other night. The gnocchi was very easy to make and had a lovely flavour. I prefer them to potato ones. The sauce was ok, but I won’t make it again as we prefer others.

I made some seed slice from the book  Plant to Plate that has just been released. They were very tasty and only 130 calories each piece. A friend tried them and wondered if we were eating the budgie's food. I halved the sugar syrups in them and they were plenty sweet enough. I had put the link up but when I tested it, you had to log in, they are getting cunning.  (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190331/f28e2d677603579b3343bbc21568054a.jpg)

Beef and mushroom stroganoff (TM6)

https://cookidoo.com.au/recipes/recipe/en-AU/r490454

Made this friday Nite, from TM6, with Cookdoo. Pretty easy and straight forward. We all liked, will make again.
I don't really like following a recipie 100%, but I did to try out the TM6.

I tried Sticky Sesame Chicken from Cookidoo for our dinner tonight.
I halved the honey and sugar and it was plenty sweet enough for us. Next time I would grease the baking tray better as my chicken stuck a bit and difficult to lift off. It was very tasty. I used brown rice instead of Jasmine rice,

I added 2 teaspoons of yeast, not 1 as they said. I also only added a tiny bit of sugar.

I made the Beef Buns last night. I was a bit worried as the filling ended up looking like a ghastly sloshy mix (I will purée it less next time) but they tasted fine. We had them with sweet chilli sauce. They were fairly quick to make and cook.

Bacon and Corn Quiche from Cookidoo.  It’s from the UK book Savoury. It was very nice. Different to most quiches I make as it had a lot of filling. When I sautéed the bacon and leek I used reverse. We will be having it again.

Hello all! Long time since I've been on here. I thought I'd see if you had a thread for the Cookidoo. I've just bought a TM6, handed my TM5 down to my DIL and was planning to hand her (my previous) TM31 to my other son when it got an error 52 which we think is the Motherboard, If so, not worth fixing. So timely!!

Really enjoying Cookidoo, but have had a few fails, so was hoping I'd find you all testing the recipes madly and commenting here.

Good to be back!  ;D

Made peanut butter choc chip slice from sweet slices. I would only add half the honey next time and increase the peanut butter or use another nut butter as I couldn't really taste it. It is a bit crumbly too, that could be due to something I did. DH loves it and so does mum.

I have made a couple of things from Cookidoo since getting the 6. The first main meal I was disappointed in. It was Korean Chicken.
The second main meal we had last night was aChipotle Chilli Beef Cobbler. It was very nice and we have enough for tonight as well. The meat didn't mush up at all. My only complaint is that it took me 2½ hours to do it. Next time I will cook the meat part in the 6 and the cobbler part in the 5.
The Orange and Currant Biscuits I made the other day were from Cookidoo too. It wont let me link the recipe Grrr.

I used the high heat to do some carrot slices tonight and they were ok. A bit too much oil for us, so they could sizzle I guess. I also did some broccoli separately with a similar outcome. I would prefer stir fried veggies. I haven’t tried the onions yet.

I totally agree Chookie. We use what we think gives us the best results. I wanted to try this, but it isn't for us. I usually do my stir fried veggies in a non stick pan so the 50g EVOO was way over the top. I have cookidoo but each year when it is time to renew, I have a big think. I think DD may use it in her new house.
