To buy a TM or not to buy
« on: December 19, 2013, 11:50:57 am »
End of school year, I am tired, just want to put my feet up. Dial a take away, really dont care as long as the family is fed.

In 20 mins I have made a really great rissotto. During that 20 mins, maybe 2 mins was work, less time than dialing a take out.  :D

Rissotto for 4 probably cost $10, dh told me it was restaurant quality.

I had a glass of wine while my TM stired & stired.

Take out $50 +++ not healthy.

TMs are worth their weight in gold :)

Isn't it nice that we never take our TMXs for granted and still appreciate what they are capable of doing.  Good one Hally.

I had a similar situation the other night Hally. Visitors left quite late and we were going to have takeaway. I had chicken breast defrosted. I minced it, put it over a sheet of puff pastry, with sundries tomatoes, grated some cheese and sprinkled that over and blitzed some frozen bacon and put that over. I then rolled it up like a Swiss roll and cooked it. We ate it with salad and had a large piece each.

Gotta luv those thermomix machines.  :D :D

I never take my Thermie for granted. It's my friend in the kitchen, and I love it.  I have bought a travel bag so if it's worth taking I will.

From the title of this topic I thought we might have to convince someone how great our Thermomix's are. But I won't even bother now :)
Love my thermomix is all I'm going to say.

Yes absolutely love my TM :)

So far it has been on every holiday within WA with us, was thinking of not taking her away for the next 5 days, but have changed my mind & yes shes coming. The travel bag is great :) will take just the 1 jug.

Debbie, I just make up my rissotto as I go. I think the secret of a good rissotto is a combination of leek, onion & garlic sauted in butter to start, home made chicken stock & wine. Last night I used panchetta & asparagus & in the last 30 seconds I stirred through parmesan. I also like to add pepper & truffle oil to each serve :) cp doesnt have the latter ;D

Hope this helps :)

It certainly seems to handle anything we throw at it doesn't it?

Couldn't be without mine.  It's something I would definitely replace if I needed to.  :)

You spurred me on to try again today. I did it on the fly kind of using the EDC mushroom Risotto recipe and added some pancetta (hoping that it would make them more keen). Also added leek as per your suggestion. Didn't go too bad. DS9 ate it mostly and so did his friend, DS6 1/2 grumbled the most (but is the fussiest), but I bribed him to eat 6 enourmous spoonfuls and DS5 who was tired ate it if I fed him. DH quite liked it too. Maybe if I make it more often and play around with the flavours .......... could become a winner lol. Was a quick easy dinner for me though and I really liked it.

Sounds like you could be getting the hang of it. The stock I use it from chicken bones. Once you get the right formula it should be a winner :)

I love it for those last minute dinners too.   ;D
Risottos or the all-in-one type meals are my super-fast go to recipes.

A while ago I made a nice curry and rice and we decided to pop to the indian shop around the corner and grab some naan bread (had left it a bit late to make)....$18.00 for 4 garlic naans!!  And they weren't that great either.  NEVER again.  Last night I made my own and they were miles better!
