Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi from Anne in Perth
« on: August 08, 2011, 05:35:41 am »
Hello Anne, and welcome to the forum.  The TMX is a great machine and I hope you make the decision to go with it.  A lot of our members have been to and / or currently attend Weightwatchers and I am sure someone will get back to you with some help and ideas.  Despite appearances, not EVERY recipe is fattening and it is a matter of just working your way through them and finding those that are suitable for you and your requirements.

The one thing that all the recipes have in common, though, is that they are all home made and, although some may utilise commercially manufactured product/s in part of the meal, on the whole, a TMX prepared meal is better for you than most alternatives and you have ultimate control of what you eat.

Good luck with your diet and your decision re. the TMX.

That's the same recipe that I've been using since I was a kid a great many years ago!  Really easy and works so well.

Good to hear that you are a vegetarian as well, Bedidassi, it means I don't have to think about whether I can somehow convert your recipes into a vegetarian version so that we can eat them.  Australia is a much better country for vegetarian food now than it has been in the past (except in the countryside where they still have a very strong meat based diet and vegetarians are often regarded as some sort of strange species of humanoid!) so the next time you come you should be able to enjoy some wonderful food.

We recently had a friend visiting from Luxembourg and he said that even the other side of the city was a long way to go for the local people!!  You do get used to long distances here in Australia

Hi Anne and welcome to the forum.  Like you, I never made pastry until the TMX came into my life, now it's a breeze and I never think twice about making it (except when I look in the mirror - that often has the power to curb my pastry urge!).  Happy TMXing

An light day's cooking for me, one batch of LSA, butter, some CADA and worcestershire sauce.  All quick and easy.

Hope your consultant can help you today.  My fingers are crossed for a quick resolution as I can imagine just how disappointed you are.

Made a batch of this yesterday (minus anchovies) - ran out of white vinegar so resorted to red wine vinegar and it has turned out beautifully.  It's really easy to make, but it does give off a fairly lively aroma - certainly makes your eyes water and clears your sinuses!  I've got to admit, it's a little too fiery for me, but my DH loved it.  Also gave some to my neighbour as he loves things with a bit of a 'bite' to it too.  I'll probably give the rest of the bottles away to friends as well and make another batch later in the year.

Cakes / Re: Scones - Nay-nay's family recipe

I would use whipping cream as thickened cream has additional thickening additives added to make it thicker (if you can follow that).  I should imagine either would be fine, though.  Perhaps Nay-Nay will pick up on this and give you the "definitive" answer.

Bedidassi, making suggestions and helping everyone out is how this forum works, so there's no need for you to apologise.

You will see many alternatives posted for a lot of the recipes on the forum and that's what makes this such a great place to visit - everyone shares their ideas and suggestions, it is a case of what suits one person may not suit another and knowing how other people make a certain dish or the authentic way to cook dishes makes a huge difference and inspires us to try different ways of cooking the recipe.  Your ideas will always be appreciated.

Welcome, Bedidassi, it looks like everyone is eagerly awaiting your recipes.  I live in Australia but we go to Cremona in Lombardy every year or so on business, so not too far away from you I think.  I see that you have already posted quite a few recipes.  Many thanks - I am sure we will all enjoy our Italian feasts!

Welcome to the forum Amy.  As everyone has said, there are lots of people on here who have allergies and food intolerances and they have already started posting recipes and ideas for you to try.  Good luck with everything and we look forward to hearing how you get on.
