How sad that it is the time for him to give the car up, but good for him to know that it is going to a good home.

A couple of new dishes for me today - a nut loaf that ended up using up just every type of nut I had in the house.  The recipe called for cooked chestnuts but the very expensive can I bought yesterday didn't look good when I opened it so it went straight into the rubbish (I didn't even want to put it out for the hens!) so I put in... almonds, pistachios, pecans, cashews and hazelnuts instead.  The recipe also called for dried apricots chopped into it and a packet of sage and onion stuffing ... very strange combination but it actually turned out quite nice.

I also made RTE' s Roasted eggplant lentil salad.  Unfortunately by the time I got around to the roasting eggplant bit it was too hot so I have ended up with just the lentil salad, which is very nice.  The lentils are very strongly flavoured so I am hoping the rocket will cut through that when I add it (I haven't got the rocket yet so I am curious to see if it does manage to calm the lentils down).

So glad to hear that your AC is finally working, Chookie, that is a huge relief.

I agree with Judy, you are lucky having a DS who can take care of your techy jobs, when everything is working well it is wonderful.

Your garden looks great - very easy to maintain with just a little work every now and again.

Sorry to hear that the sauce didn't work out for you Judy, despite your experiments.  Was the taste too strong, not strong enough or just not interesting?  It sounds like you are still finding quite a few things that you used to enjoy but can no longer tolerate.  Such a long-term learning curve for you.

So sorry to hear that Ral has had  bad reaction to the latest infusion, Chookie - was it a new preparation of chemicals? Love to you both

Judy, I believe peaches are good just now, maybe worth an experiment to buy one?  I find the white ones tastier.

I saw some nice white peaches in Farmer Joe’s so bought 2 on Thursday. They were very firm so I was surprised but optimistic when they softened within 2 days.  They were perfect Marina, I can’t remember when I last bought stone fruit that were this good so thank you for the heads up.

Wonderful news, Judy.  Glad you enjoyed them.

Like you, Cookie, when we lived in Hong Kong we used to go from one air conditioned mall to the next - the only way to keep cool.

That brought back memories Mab and made me laugh - the first loaf of bread I made was so bad even the birds couldn't / didn't eat it - is was the exact opposite to yours; hard as a rock!

Glad you liked the mango custard, Judy, it is a great standby.

Mab, lucky you with all those beans, maybe a bit of an on-going job at the moment, but worth it

What a saga with your a/c, Chookie, I hope that they can resolve the problem once and for all for you this time.
