I have a SD loaf in the oven. It is from the rye starter.

I did kill my 40 year old SD starter.  Grew a new one and just had to make a loaf to see what it is like.    It was certainly ok in texture but not as strong in its rising ability and lacked the complex depth of flavour.  No doubt this will improve over time.

Yes it is dreadful and I will miss the beautiful flavour.   Didn’t really appreciate it until now.  Just accepted that all SD tasted like the old SD.

Oh Chookie that is not good . Made Tenia’s Killer Vanilla ice cream. Seven egg whites used . What will I make with 7 egg yolks tomorrow?

I never know what to make with egg yolks K Atie. Whites I freeze and do use down the track. Killer Vanilla is lovely.

I'm trying a new SD recipe today. I'm not too sure how it will go.

Made DS and DD scrambled eggs for dinner. Used the 7 egg yolks and three eggs . So glad we are getting 7 eggs everyday.

My new SD recipe was supposed to rise etc yesterday but at 6.30pm it was still not risen enough, so I put it in the fridge overnight. It rose quite a bit. I took it out this morning and went out. When I got home it had risen rather a lot, possibly a bit much. I baked it and it's not bad at all. The recipe was recommended on Facebook, sourdough bakers of Australia.

Your bread looks nice Cookie.  I can't wait to get back in the kitchen.
