I think I would like to try this recipe, but I have never cooked or even eaten corned beef before. Why is it called "corned" beef?

I have run out of leftovers! :o

I am going to have to make something from scratch. I have no idea what though. I'd like to make Judy's chicken and vegie soup but I have no soup vegies and no cash :'(

Erm... what's a high tea? Is it tea on top of a mountain or something...? ???
I went to High Tea 2 weeks ago for a Hens Do and this is what we had on the menu.

When I first saw that middle photo I thought it was a big pile of roast chickens... :-))
I really should wear my glasses ;D

Thanks Amy - so other than the lemon that is demonstrated at demo's and I know there is a chocolate jaffa flavour which I saw at a cooking class, what other flavours would you do in a the layer? Parfait glasses - never thought I would be involved in conversations using this terminology :)

LOL ;D

Basically you can make whatever flavours you want using the base recipe in the EDC. Just omit the lemon zest and add your other flavourings. I add 20g cocoa for chocolate custard, or a couple of mushy bananas for banana custard. You can add 25ml brandy for brandy custard, but that might not go well with chocolate or banana. You can also just add vanilla essence for vanilla custard.

Let your imagination run wild! You might invent something delicious ;)

My TMX arrives tomorrow morning and I have put my hand up to have my husbands family here for mothers day lunch - thats 10 adults, 1 vegan and 2 children! yes DUMB DUMB DUMB. Wanted to make a cobb loaf and spinach dip for starters, was going to serve a cheesecake, scones and maybe something involving a custard for dessert but no idea what to impress them with for lunch. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Am I a little out of my depth with the dessert menu?

Wow, you are keen!! ;D

Since this is the thermomix we are talking about, you could easily whip up a couple of different dishes so that everyone is catered for. And maybe double the recipes ;)

I hear Quirky Jo's non-fried rice is delicious, but I haven't cooked it myself yet. Risotto is another simple, impressive and easily modified dish. Pasta fagioli is a classic thermie dish too.

A simple dessert with custard is simply to make different flavours, layer them in parfait glasses and serve with fresh fruit and ice cream.

That sounds nice JD :D Certainly better than tea on top of a mountain, especially in this weather :P

I think my mum would probably prefer a yummy homecooked thermomix lunch though. She hasn't had a proper thermomix meal for 8 weeks! :'(
