I've almost finished it Sarah and I have really enjoyed it. I'll look forward to hearing what you think of it.

Just finished reading 'The Martian', not a huge fan of Sci Fi but loved the way the author described everything!
Now time to watch the movie, it will be interesting to see things and compare it with what I had imagined :)

I finished the Orphan Train book this morning. I was a little distracted halfway through, it dragged a bit. But then I got right into it and the action got really interesting. And then, suddenly, it was over!! I was reading on my Kindle, and I thought there was at least another chapter or two, but it was actually a sample from another book taking up space.

I felt a little unfulfilled. So much great stuff happening towards the end, and then it was all neatly tied up without really delving into the emotions involved. But I'm glad I've read it.

I agree that you became very involved in the middle. I had a book so I knew what was coming.
I'm reading a book by Matthew Condon called The Toe Tag Quintet. I wS misled by the title, I thought there would be 5 murders in the story, but there's not. It's 5 novellas. I'm enjoying them though.

I'm ploughing through Goldfinch at the moment. It is our bookclub book for next month. It is over 700 pages and is quite heavy to hold up. It is an interesting book and I'm not sure if I like it or not. I was becoming engrossed in it and liking the way things were heading when it sort of went 'bump' and the hero isn't what I thought he was. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I also read Gone Fishin and Briony Café and loved them both. Just finished reading Margaret and Me by Kate Gibs and it was very good.

I just finished Jeffrey Archer's latest in the Clifton Chronicles series. Now I'm reading a book called Together Apart, but I'll finish that tomorrow.

I'm getting back into reading again this year so enjoying this thread again.

I read The Dressmaker. Haven't seen the movie yet but did enjoy the book. A bit predictable at the end but a good laugh.

The Demon Dentist by David Walliams. Hilarious but a bit of a push at the end. Was reading it to my boys who didn't like  one of the characters dying before their bedtime.

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. A refreshing portrayal of characters and a nice storyline to boot.

The Rosie Effect is pretty good too! I've started The Girl You Left Behind as of this morning.

I've just finished "The Outback Midwife" by Beth McCrae.  The story of her 40 years as a midwife, from a student nurse to working in the outback in a remote Aboriginal community in Arnhem Land.

The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Did you enjoy it Margaret?  I've seen it at the shops.

Yes Cookie I did.  I don't read a lot of books and this one was given to me.  I'm passing it on to a friend who was a nurse for her to read.
