Festive Seasons / Re: Making Condensed Milk
« on: November 01, 2015, 06:58:51 am »
Recipe from South African Odyssey for condensed milk is wonderful and only takes 5 minutes.

300gm sugar
150gm full cream milk powder
160gm full cream milk
Grind sugar in 2 batches of 150gm 15 seconds speed 9 add other ingredients and cook 4 minutes 90C speed 4.
I tend to cook for 4 minutes after temperature reached and then continue stirring speed 3 without heat until temperature drops to 50 when I bottle it.
Before washing bowl add a cup of coffee and whizz for a perfect cappuccino  :)

The UK book is quite different to the Australian one - just look at the index posted on this forum. I have the UK book with my machine here in South Africa so I was keen to compare the 2 - I believe the basis of the book is the same in each country with 80 or so country specific recipes.

Definitely a Miele - had mine for 4 years cannot hear it working and the cutlery drawer is amazing - much better than a basket - a little slower to put in but much quicker to take out and put away as always dry and no staining. My Miele fridge freezer also the best I have ever had.

Chit Chat / Re: Does anyone own a Phillips Airfryer?
« on: January 29, 2014, 11:57:41 am »
If I had to choose 3 appliances for my kitchen they would be :
1. Thermomix
2. Slow Cooker
3. Philips Airfryer

These are the appliances that get used regularly - my other appliances stay in the cupboards. Healthy chips and wedges are quick and easy - even my husband can make them himself. It really is just a mini convection oven and uses much less electricity than the oven for small quantities and hardly any cleaning required.
Highly recommended.

Welcome / Re: Karen's Poll - where are you from???

I include a link to this forum in every e-mail I send to prospective purchasers I think they perhaps find "joining" a difficult thing to do! I don't log on as often as I used to but I really appreciate the recipe book comments section. I have your new EDCB and read the review on the Beef Stroganoff so didn't use the sherry vinegar - still prefer the one in the old book.

Many South Africans stalk here but not many announce their presence!

Kitchens have become the heart of the house again - wonderful pics everyone. Still love my kitchen even though my space was cut down so my DH could have a workshop!

Tips and Tricks / Re: SPATULAS IN THE UK

The spatula that comes with the machine is the only thing to use whilst the machine is on - anything else could damage your blades.

I managed to have a look at a copy of this book last week - wish I had it and a Thermomix when my children were small - will just have to wait for grandchildre now. ;D Wonderful book and I shall probably buy it just to show customers.
