That sounds logical Chookie. I was specifically told not to put water in the bottom of my oven.

What damage does that do girls?
It ruined the exposed element which had to be replaced.
This oven doesn’t have an exposed element.

Thanks for the explanation Chookie. My Miele hasn’t an exposed element either.

I have decided to try and find a new sponge recipe.  I haven't been happy with my usual one since I have had this stove.  Today's effort is from a CWA recipe.,

Mab, I love a nice sponge.  Yours looks beautiful. I have never made a traditional sponge. ! My mum made the best. When I wanted something special for a colleague, I would ask mum to make one.
A mother at my last school would make me a sponge with toffee and sliced almonds on top. She would slice the top off and then cut it into 8 triangles and set these into cream on top.

So were you happy with the CWA recipe Margaret? It rose beautifully.

Margaret your sponge looks beautiful, especially with the strawberries and cream.
Chookie the sponge a Mum from your last school used to make sounds delicious.
I made some of Tenina’s Seeded Crackers and also a Madeira Cake with squished, defrosted berries in it.

I have never made as many SD loaves as I made yesterday and today. They are for 2 SD workshops I am having at home and one at the Creswick market. I know I can’t prepare enough ‘samples ‘ for all classes so am baking ahead.
I am/ have made 6 bread sticks, olive, fruit and plain.  One plain loaf in cast iron pot, 16 hot X buns.
Will make another lot of Hot X buns nearer to time.

You’ll be all sour doughed out by the time your classes are finished Chookie. It’s a big job you’ve taken on, well done you.
Your madeira cake looks lovely cookie.

Judy, the sponge was a little bit dryer than my normal recipe.  The family are the judges and they gave it a 7.  I have  four more recipes to try. :)

Nothing like the family to tell the truth. DH often says 'it was lovely, but don't make it again!'
Chookie, you have certainly been busy.
I've made a Classic Loaf and a SD Batard today.https://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=17515.0
I reduced the rye flour by 50g and used teff flour. I'm looking forward to tasting it.
