My Kids have been at friends, now I have 4, and we are slipping and sliding with lots of detergent.
riding bikes, motor bikes too.
what are your kids doing.. :)
-
Nice thread idea :)
Bit too cold for slip and slide here...my little one has been going through every drawer in the house and taking stuff out before going on to the next one....thank goodness she is having an afternoon nap now so I can tidy it up!
On the up side she did sleep in til midday today so it's not all bad :)
-
GD 9 is watching tv and playing in the lounge, too cold to go outside.
-
We had a couple of the grandkids overnight last night and today went to the park and then out for lunch to brewery on the marina. Their parents joined us and we all ad a good time. Children's playground at the back of brewery so a great place for families.
All gone home now and DH about to snooze on the couch. 2 beers in the daytime and he needs a Nanna nap ;) LOL
-
Being brats and driving me insane........... :-))
-
I know that feeling Astarra! Mine were like that yesterday! :)

Mine have just gone to school alone (DS age 7) and the missus has taken DD (age 5, nearly 6) to Kindergarten.
Later DD is off to a friends (once I re-arrange pickup time), and me & DS are off to a class autumn party (for which I made the sausage rolls yesterday).
[not sure i'll keep up DS & DD, I'm always trying to remember what it means ... Dreadful or darling ;D ]
-
DS and DD...can mean dreadful or Darling as the mood stikes!!!! ;)
-
My kids are doing a masterclass mystery challenge today!
Last night I put 4 ingredients into 2 bags and this morning they had to find a recipe using all the ingredients in the bag.
Miss 9 said she is using the thermomix and Miss 11 is using the Kitchenaid.
So far miss 9 is making choc chip slice plus chocolate coated strawberries and bananas while Miss 11 is making white chocolate and strawberry cake.
Oh the pressure is on!!!!
-
That sounds like fun Rara :)
Cricket season is here so DS and DH will be out all day and since I have the painter here the other 2 are doing gluing and drawing
-
sounds fun a mystery bag. My 2 have play dates, pick up at 2, then we go and see more friends..
-
Two DD's (8 & 2.5) are laying on the floor listening to the music on the iPod and DS (6) is playing the Nintendo DS
-
Today I took the kids to an archery competition to see their auntie who's come over from Adelaide to compete. VERY muddy, so needless to say kids had a great time! When we got home I made them tidy their rooms, now they're on the computer & watching Telly.
-
Been outside in their cubby for most of the morning, then lunch, outside on their bikes, went to see Leo (their lamb) at the farm now they are in the bath. :)
-
This is what miss 9 made today in her master class mystery challenge
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm57/rara6014/image-1.jpg)
Choc chip slice, choc coated strawberries and a choc drink.
Instead of using walnuts as per the recipe she added tenina's granusesli
Miss 11 made white chocolate and strawberry cake.
Was meant to be cupcakes but she wanted a cake instead
(http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm57/rara6014/image.jpg)
They invited their 3 cousins and a friend each to be judges.
Verdict - a draw!!
Both tasted delicious and both presented well.
Both helped with the clean up and most importantly they worked as a team and didn't fight!!
Rara x
-
They look wonderful Rara, 2 very talented little girls you have their xx
-
Thank you suzanne

-
Astarra, do you ever scream ???
ummmmmmmmmmm...no, there would be no point, I'd only scare the kids then have tears to deal with as well!!!! :)
All 3 are having an afternoon sleep now so I am trying to get my house back to normal... :) (well, after my forum fix I will be!!)
-
1 is at work,1 is at a sleepover and the 2 youngest are being so lovely and quietly playing although DD is being the doctor whilst I rest my headache, I'm sure it's the weather it is so miserable here in Perth today
-
It sure is Suzanne and doesn't look like it's going to clear up.
My DH is at golf and GD is with him. They will be soaked through :(
-
My DH is at cricket :-)), no playing but they have to go the ground or the other team gets the points bit silly if you ask me, my DH timed it well he played golf yesterday and said it was 'perfect golf weather' :)
-
Yes yesterday was lovely and would have been perfect for golf.
DH plays in his clubs competition every Saturday in any type of wrather :-))
Hope tomorrow is nice as we always go out Sunday afternoon for a late lunch and prefer to be outdoors
-
Pretty sure tomorrow is going to be worse but I hope not. DS has his cricket in the morning which will be cancelled if wet.
My dad plays every Tuesday rain hail or shine with all the older men I think their crazy but what can you do ;D
-
Definitely crazy but you can't teach old dogs new tricks ;D
Sunshine now long may it last ;D
-
Hopefully the weather man has it all wrong and it's sunny days, DS just wants to get outside and kick the footy ;D
-
My kids are so good today, riding motorbikes, watching TV, playing lego, Bratz dolls, and eating my cooking.....
Nice and quiet, relaxing, all good.
-
Gotta love days like this Robyn, how's your cooking day going?
-
Happy Dance, loving it so much.
Cooking 2 morow 2, Its what I do
Plums are not ripe enough yet to pick for jam. Maybe next week.
-
Boys were really good today too. DS4's birthday and he shared all his new toys with his brother. Awe just makes you want to hug them.
-
Kids up the road, playing. They went for a swim in the lake. About to get them plus 2 more for swimming, slip and slide soon..
-
Playing with Lego. The floor is littered with it. There happy and content.
-
Careful you don't stand on a stray piece Kimmy nothing hurts more than a piece of lego :-))
Mine are playing outside while the rain has stopped for a little while, just about to have lunch though
-
Must be lego day.... my lounge floor has oodles of it strewn over! But the girls are playing happily, quietly and together, so I'm not complaining!! :D
-
That sounds like bliss for you Astarra. Enjoy it while it lasts ;)
-
Careful you don't stand on a stray piece Kimmy nothing hurts more than a piece of lego :-))
Mine are playing outside while the rain has stopped for a little while, just about to have lunch though

Thanx Kimmy, but I think with lego, barbies, polly pockets etc we have more than enough pieces... ;)
Agreed Mich - I'd be happy with 1/4 of Barbie's wardrobe....if only they would fit!!!
-
Kids now in the bath,.......
-
Kids now in the bath,.......
+1....or should that be +3!!?
-
so much to clean up, in the playroom. I don't want to look.
Barbie house, boat, large cranes, bratz dolls, jigsaw puzzles,
books, pencils from coloring in, reading books, lego, dress ups, all waiting for me to tidy up again..... :)
MY DH says, close the door..
-
It does get a bit overwhelming doesn't it :) and I can't close the door to hide the mess because we have french doors on the toy room so can still see it :-)) , DD and I had a giant clean up yesterday and have about 12 bags of toys, books and stuffed animals to take to the Salvo's, it felt so good, helping others is a wonderful feeling xx
-
Suzanne, we gave heaps of toys away 2 weeks ago, to a garage sale for the old peoples home. felt good karma.
Kids are at school today
-
That is good of you Suzanne.
One at kinder and one home helping me cook!!

-
Good Astarra, eating choc custard.
Penicillin seems to have helped. kids panadol too.
-
Love the kids panadol. 1 school transition day. Other looked lost so took him to playground. After school both played happily until bedtime when DS5 lost his second tooth (pushed it out with his tongue)! Tooth fairy is coming to our house tonight! ;)
-
Tooth fairy last night at our house ds had a footy to the head yesterday at school it was already loose so he wasn't fussed
-
That tooth fairy sure is busy Suzanne. :)
-
She sure is, as long as she doesn't forget::)
-
Done it just now so I wouldn't forget. Had to scramble to find a gold coin!
-
My miss6 still has not lost any teeth, not even any slightly wobbly...it is her biggest bane ATM, as she is the only one in her class who hasn't lost a tooth. :( I'm not sad tho!! :)
-
Mine are at school. DS eating ice cream, jelly, custard....
-
Mine are coloring....apparently doing "an excellent job, aren't we mum" :-)) :D
-
:( - Just had to pick up Miss6 from school - she has a temp and is feeling dizzy. :(
She is now in bed. Her sisters are in bed too. Peace reigns. :)
-
Hope she feels better soon Astarra
-
Just delivered jelly and custard to my DS at school.
Have to go at lunch every day for him to take a tablet now, for a week.
-

DS5 cut his teeth early as a baby too. He has been obsessed with getting new teeth for sometime now and we originally thought he bumped it or wiggled it himself. Guess not as he has two new adult teeth coming up right where the old ones came out. Guess they pushed them out after all!
-
All 3 outside using the swing set as a climbing frame... I'm getting lots done inside ATM!! :D
-
DS is sick today and here. DD was sick yesterday... :D
-
Hope your kids are better Robyn.
I have 3 in bed ATM.... :o
-
Driving me crazy!! Fighting, competing, racing each other and not listening to me. And that's just on our walk up to the milk bar. Exercise seems to make them worse.
-
2 are at a birthday party,, miss 2 I'm trying hard to keep her awake!
-
both were at school
-
DS(5) had school athletics today - not his forte but he had a great time. And we got the added bonus of seeing the eclipse during it - amazing the difference it made to the temperature while the sun was just partially blocked. 8) One of teachers brought a bunch of glasses so people could have a look.
And then miniball after school. Phew!
-
Wow, busy day then jo-nz. :)
Right now I have 1 at school, :) 1 doing puzzles :) and 1 asleep after her 18mth immunisations :'( . (never mind she is 22mths :-)) )
-
mine are at school again, yeah
-
1 at work, 2 at school and 1 asleep after work and food shopping
-
Mine are giving their craft pompoms a haircut (ie just making a mess really), and waiting for daddy to get home to help get them ready for bed.
-
1 at school, 2 in bed yelling across the hallway to each other. :-\
-
2 at school.
DS has a dentist appt this afternoon.
-
Hope things are good in his mouth Obbie... how is he healing?
-
so far so good Astarra, find out today.....
-
How'd he go, Robyn?
-
Well I'm not a happy Jan today ! Yesterday my son came home from school and told me that it hurt him to go to the toilet ! Later he wouldn't even go because he knew it would hurt. So we had the after hours doctor out last night and as suspected he has a UTI !! He's in prep and we live in QLD and it's been very hot ! He tells me his teacher won't let them have water bottles in the classroom. I asked him if he's allowed to go and get a drink and he says, we have to put our hand up to ask but the teacher doesn't always answer them so he calls out ............. then she says no you can't because you didn't put your hand up !!! I find this VERY HARSH for prep kids ! We spoke to the principal and he's meant to be dealing with the teacher !
I'm furious ! I'm posting on here so all Aussie parents remind their kids in this hot weather that they need to drink their water through the day !!! I also had a lilttle conversation with my DS about checking the colour of his output so if it's dark he needs to drink more water etc etc so hopefully this will help too.
Teachers should be prompting kids in this hot weather to drink their water ! They sometimes focus too much on the kids being responsibile blah blah blah but they are too little to understand sometimes and I suspect too busy playing at lunchtime !
-
Debbie that is terrible and I hope you sort it out. My son is starting school next year and he has the problem of too much play and no drink. I asked his school what their drink policy is and the children are allowed drink bottles in the classroom. Hoping yours can do the same.
-
Our kids have there water bottles on the desk all day. we are in FNQ.
No worries at all.
sounds like a bad teacher
-
All good with DS at dentist. he has to go back in March. $160 bill after MBF .
Today kids have cleaned up the playroom, DD swept it out, and now they are down the drive way with the blower, blowing the pine needles off.
They love the blower.. :) :) :)
-
I have 1 asleep in bed and 2 gone out with DH to take a friend to the tip then bring him here for a while... should be cooking but just enjoying a bit of free quiet time to myself!! :)
-
watching tv, riding motor bikes, lazing around
-
1 at school, 1 in bed and 1 playing with polly pockets, but she will be going to bed too soon. :)
-
Astarra just read some old threads and horrified to read about your little girl going missing.
The terror you must have felt made me shiver.
I had a similar experience with each of my sons and thankfully all was well in the end. One at 21 months and one at 4 years.
Every parents nightmare.
What a relief for you when you found her. Big hugs :)
-
Kinder in morning for one.
Swimming for other followed by kinder in arvo. I feel like a taxi.
-

Thanx MF - it was the scariest thing imaginable - no, even scarier than imaginable. :(
The relief was incredible. :) I still shake when I think about it. :-\
And she thinks it was the biggest joke ever because "Mum tried" (cried). :'( :'( :'(
I sure was crying too, with relief by the time I found her, but I still fail to see the amusement in the situation! ;)
Such a horrible experience, 1 I certainly hope to never have to relive in my entire life... :)
Thanks for the hugs!! :-*

Playcentre for DD, and school for DS - exciting day for him as his little friend from just around the corner has turned 5 and started in his class today ;D

-
school, only 3 weeks to go.
Hope they get better soon Astarra
-
Thanx Robyn, I am really over her getting sick, it always starts with miss6, the others may get it or may not. She seems to get everything that goes around. ??? Took her to the doc yesterday - if she gets tonsillitis again in a short space of time he will be looking at getting her tonsils out. :P
-
Some young kids are always sick Astarra, she should start getting less so at the age of 6 I would have thought.
-
Thanx JD - she has been less sick this and last year than earlier years, she was a chronic asthmatic but seemed to (touch wood) grow out of that by 5yrs old, so hoping she will grow out of catching every little bug and virus that comes near her... :)
-
Home all day and not so DS4 has thrown a 1 1/2 hour tantrum because he would not pack up toys for lunch. Guess who had lunch much later at 1:30? Funny how DS5 was picture perfect while commotion going on.
-
As long as they learn by watching & listening Kimmy and don't copycat ;D
I had a great little conversation with GS4 the other day. He started it by telling me that just because your parents tell you off or send you to the naughty corner, it doesn't mean they don't love you. They are trying to teach you what is right and what is wrong. It was so interesting listening to him and we chatted for a good 10 minutes on this subject. His Mum was the same, I had no trouble with her until she was 10 as I was able to talk her around to my way of thinking quite easily. It was her big sister's influence which eventually caused her to buck the system. It appears as if GS has the same problem at home - he tells me DS is a very naughty girl and did I know a very naughty word? Well whether I wanted to know or not, I got told - not once but twice. He said he wasn't saying it, he was just telling me what she said LOL.
-
Too cute JD. Thanks.
-
Hope it was a nice naughty word
-
How cute JD. :)
-
No it was a naughty word >:( They learn so much at school.
-
Your GS sounds very cute Judy and they sure do learn at school some good some not so;D
-
My kids have learn t some naughty words, >:( >:(
But they all do. from school.
I told them Santa was bringing potatoes if they were naughty anymore.
-
Lying around in the sunshine today. 8)
-
I love days like today where the little things are so much fun. We went to our favourite cafe where Miss 2 ordered her own raisin toast & babycino, then watched a crane on a building site, went to the pet shop to look at the fish, bought some onions and potatoes (very exciting for a 2.year old apparently) and stopped by another construction site on the way home to watch bulldozers and diggers (whose drivers put on a little 'show' for her). Now she is curled up in bed & I'm having some forum/Facebook time :)
Happy days :)
-
And I meant to add Miss 2 said lots of naughty words today as we watched the "trucks" :o
-
LOL Jamberie! :D
-
school, then home early to swim
-
Miss22mths gone for a drive with DH, Miss3&miss6 playing outside in their cubby. :D

-
Today was:
Miniball practice and then school for mr5
Visit to kindy (where I hope she will go start of next year) for miss3, and then doing jobs with me.
Both tucked up in bed now though ;D
-
Methinks the kids are getting into the Xmas spirit. They shut themselves in my study this morning & wouldn't let me in. Once they'd gone to school I took a look & found craft stuff everywhere! Wonder what I'm getting for Xmas 😊
Swimming lessons after school.
-
How sweet of your kids deedub
At the moment DD is snuggled up to me on the couch, just about to nod off, she isn't a fan of this horrid weather, she said'I'm a little scaredy' good excuse if you ask me, I love snuggling ;D
-
How sweet deedub and Suzanne. :)
-
School for DS, and DD spent the morning at her Nana's. Then we made playdough and played with that until school pickup time. Then after school made cookies before DS's miniball game. They lost the game, but think DS is quite oblivious. And home for dinner, now in pjs almost set for bed.
-
Kids had school today, then a visit to the doctor for DD7 to have a wart on her big toe seen to. She's such a trooper, just giggled the whole time because it tickled! Strange kid likes going to the dentist too!
-
Went to town and boys sat on Santa's knee for a photo. DS4 had big chats with Santa and both are loving the flashing red nose he gave them. Birthday party in park in arvo and both tired out and sleeping solid now.
-
Sounds like fun kimmy, no way will DD go near Santa, DH had to be in a photo one year as she wouldn't go near him;D
-
school

I can participate today :D.......GS is now having his afternoon sleep. It's hot here so there has been a lot of water playing....

Glad to hear your ds likes him I took DD last week just to see him and his helpers from a distance, no chance of sitting on his knee she climbed my legs so fast it wasn't funny, well it was but ykwim;D
Ds11 of school today just a runny nose but the school don't like them going so he's entertaining DD whilst I do the housework including DD20's cabana, that's a job on it's own ::)
-
School had a power blackout today, so no aircon - 38deg here, poor kids. Took spray bottles with cold water when I went to pick them up.
-
Poor kids we used to get to go home if it got too hot many years ago when I was at school
Hope you had a fun day with your GS ab

Now they have both gone out with Daddy to his last job for the day, which is out near the airport, so a little plane-watching on the side. :D
-
1 at school
1 watching the men building a house across the road
1 playing with dolls and prams etc.
-
I have started back at work full time after my DH's business took a bad turn (off a cliff). So DH is now the homebody and is dealing with the school related things. Yesterday was the start of the boys' two week intensive swimming program and this was the report I received from DH about DS7:
"Sam went into the pool with his school shorts on. Left his undies on the bus after showing Mrs L that he had them. Borrowed pants from school and left his bathers on under, and now it seems he has lost his goggles."
All in all a good start to the swimming program.
-
Oh dear, Kerryn :D
Hope things go better today...
-
Ah, swimming. DS recently wore his undies underneath his togs in the pool. Then afterwards just left them on as he didn't have another pair (and still won't let me put a spare in his bag).
In fact it's a swimming day again today, so we'll see what state he comes home in... :D
DD has been at playcentre this morning, and now home with me until school pickup time.
-
school
-
One has school transition in morning followed by kinder in arvo. The other is tagging along today.
-
1 at school, 2 at home ds7 has tonsilitis so the poor thing isn't feeling the best and it's going to be warm today 37 degrees
DD is playing my little ponies quietly whilst ds lays on the couch
-
Oh no suzanne - hope your ds didn't catch his tonsilitis of my DDs. ;)
Also hope the rest of your family doesn't get it...DH is the only one of us who didn't get it (touch wood) - I thought miss22mths had somehow escaped...but it wasn't to be, she has it now. :-\
-
Thanks astarra rarely does anyone else ever get it thank goodness, he gets it a lot and this year like you sickness has been rampant, are you all well now?
-
Apart from miss22mths we are thanks - oh DH tells me I'm still not properally over it and to stop pushing myself... :-)) Who is going to do the work if I don't ??? :D
-
Sorry I missed that bit, hope she's well soon, it's a horrible sickness and then ds7 generally gets croup too, I here you on the'someone has to do it'hopefully every one will be well for Christmas
-
Hopefully - that is interesting about the croup, as all mine used to get croup. I wonder if there is a connection?
-
I think so as long as I have his redipred on hand it's ok, hate middle of the night trips to the er
-
+1 Suzanne. :-))
Actually I hate any trips to ER!! :D
-
school
-
school for one, morning at Nana's house for the other.
then miniball after school
-
It's a full day at home with them playing with toys. Nice slow day.
-
1 at school
2 at Grandma's for the day
Me....in bed. :P
-
school
Are you sick Astarra
-
mmmm, this stupid flu thing has got me good and proper today...could hardly lift my head from the pillow this morning without my head feeling like it would fall off. :-\
Been sleeping and feel a bit better now, just having something to eat then will probly go back to sleep for a while. :-))
-
Get better soon Astarra :)
-
Thanx. Feel terrible having to send the kids off to the MIL so they would get proper care. :( Glad I have her tho! :D
-
So sorry your not well astarra, hopefully your better soon xxx and yes thank goodness for mil's
-
Get well soon Astarra and rest up while you can.
-
Hope the kids had fun, and you got plenty of rest!!
School today for Mr5, and a day with me for Miss3 :)
-
Are you feeling any better Astarra?
-
Slightly, thanx Yvette...DMIL is here doing all my housework ATM while I am lying in bed with the computer for company!!
-
Now she has taken the preschoolers home with her and said she will get miss6 after school too. :)
A relief but still feel bad not being able to look after my own kids. :(
-
Lucky you have a good MIL, mine has never babysit.
-
:o Never...? Wow!
I am very lucky to have such a good MIL, and we get on well too - always a bonus! :D
-
lucky you Astarra... oh well
-
Grandma's took her out today for a babycino :)
I saw a coffee menu today with babycinos priced at $2 each! I don't expect them to be free, but i think $2 is a bit much for a tablespoon or two of milk froth!
-
Especially when some cafes/restaurants give them to the kids for free ???
-
I'm wondering if it is their way of saying that children are not welcome :-\
-
mine are tired, but at school
-
One at school, one got a friend over playing happily ;D
-
Lucky DH has a fun day with the kids (while I do paperwork) - collecting driftwood & stones from the beach for our new front garden, going to see a Dr Seuss art exhibition, maybe going to Te Papa (museum with lots of interactive exhibits - the kids love it), taking our (now ex-)employee to the airport and watcing planes while there. They will have a blast.
-
Glad the children and DH will have a good day Jo. Hope your work goes quickly and you can join them.
-
last day at school, picking them up soon. :D :D :D
-
;D totally discombobulated today . . . I'm convinced today is Saturday!! Got a bit confused there, Obbie - wondering why kids at school today . . . . . . ;D ;D
-
Raining today, so we played bathtub fishing this morning.
I put shredded blue cellophane paper in the bath, and scatter little fish which have magnets attached and DD fishes with her fishing rod with a magnet on the end. hours of fun. When we are finished just scoop everything back into a plastic bag for next time. Put the plug in first so stuff doesn't go down the drain.
-
That sounds like fun, Kieramax. :D :D
-
great idea, I have the kids here, school is over, yippee :) :)
-
Kids were at school today, but home early because one of them felt sick. One more week to go before holidays!
-
DS finishes school next Weds lunchtime, but today they got their end of year reports and class allocation for next year. So far I haven't heard of any of his friends going into the same class. :-\ I'm sure there will be some from his class, but 2 of the 3 friends I was most hopeful about are defnitely NOT in with him. :(
He got a lovely report though!
DD had her appt at the hospital about a lump on her ankle - all good and we can just leave it alone. :)
-
One at kinder today and the other has cried, argued, been very naughty, rude and cried some more. Think he is very tired of kinder, school transition, etc. and all is a bit much for him atm.
-
I really feel for youngsters at this time of year... The system asks Too much of them IMHO ... A quiet restful weekend will help I daresay ... Along with some reassurances.. Even.... if just in passing .. That you understand how he's feeling
-
school can be very stressful for the kids, and the parents :)
-
Yes lots of hugs and cuddles help.
-
riding motor bikes
relaxing
doing a hair color on DD
watching TV
:) :)
lazing around
eating heaps
I love holidays.. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
1 at work, 1 at cricket and 2 out the back playing nicely for the minute;D
-
2 here on the laptops, riding bikes, and lazing around..
-
One kid at school, and one has gone away to Nan's (my mum's) for a two night sleepover. And her big cousins are there too, so should be fun (have not really talked much about big cousins being there, as DS would be so jealous!)
All so I can get a little work done at the office....fun times. It will also give Santa a chance to wrap the presents!
-
Mad Monday one at swimming followed by kinder the other at kinder party morning followed by lazing around house.
-
at work
-
1 at school, 2 at Grandma's. :D
-
I have just found a note on my bedside table written by my GD who was here all day with her brother. I will write it exactly how she has - spelling mistakes and all.
Dear Grammar, you are very cool and yeh so I would like to tell you you are a grate gramma.
Love yore grand dotter and grandson!!
How nice is that and what a surprise. Now to teach that GD how to spell LOL
-
How cute JD, something to treasure spelling mistakes and all.
-
That's so cute Judy.I bet it made you smile and proud. ;D
-
I was chuffed CC, it's nice being a cool

Today we have some errands then Think we will head off to the lake or if its not too hot a walk in the rainforest.. Kids will love that..maybe oh and tonight is carols in the park in our local village green.. That will be .nice and something the kids have never done.. Too damn cold in france.
Oh and everyone hug there kids harder today.. Those poor parents are starting to bury their little angels today :( so sad
-
DD comes home from her Nan's today ;D
DS finishes school just after lunch. I just got back from his school assembly. I was quite surprised that one teacher did a big spiel about the shooting in the US - there will be a few interesting dinner-time conversations as I know quite a few 5 yr olds in DS's class that were quite unaware of the details.
-
So sad to think of those innocent children :'( :'( :'( :'(
Today I have 1 at school, 1 in bed ??? (she asked to, said she was tired) and one playing with 'Adam' - her doll!!
-
Yes, the innocent children :'( :'(
1 is here
1 is on a play date
-
First day of the school holidays here, and the kids have just got dressed (10.30am). We are not doing much - going to have a picnic lunch at the park & feed the ducks. ;D Beautiful day for it too.
-
Last day of school today - yay, we made it! Kids are finishing at 2.30, then home to relax while I work.
-
mine are eating ice blocks at work here
-
Last day of school here too - tho ours finishes at 2pm.
ATM I have 1 at school and 2 finishing their lunch before afternoon sleeps! ;D
-
Mine are on holidays so we are about to go and jump in the pool!
-
UK school children finish school tomorrow. Then the fun begins :)
-
We have been busy today.. Thank goodness for Sunshine Coast libraries putting on so many free activities.. :) Today was a kids Christmas party with a magician and Santa.. Kids had fun then down to the beach for the rest of the day..except for a few errands before heading home..
-
First day of school holidays, stuck at home while I'm working. Kids have just had lunch, the 9yo is still in her pyjamas! The 7yo is outside 'gardening'.
-
Poor DS has kicked off the holidays with a cold & a nasty cough. So a pretty quiet day here!
-
we are at work eating ice blocks
-
Out with the grandparents!
-
Kim, it will get better, as soon as you find a house.
Take care, sending lots of forum hugs.
My kids will be very happy, as we are giving them a big pressie today, so they can enjoy it over the weekend... :)
-
Thx robyn yes just hope its sooner rather than later as our level of being able to handle it is almost at its limit.. Know another couple in our situation who arrived a month before us and live just down the road but paid 6 mths rent in advance to have their own place but have no jobs yet either and its also stressful for them as when money runs out it runs out .. They are also waiting on the sale of their place o/s..
How exciting robyn so what pressie are u giving them??
-
My kids are super happy - they are watching TV, and only just got out of their PJs (it's 11am). DS still has a cold and was coughing quite a bit last night, but woken up a bit happier today, so hoping the worst is passing, and just taking it quietly today (hence the tv watching pyjama day).
Hoping DH will finish work early today and we will take the kids to visit Santa.
Just realised Santa forgot to wrap their fishing lines...and he ran out of wrapping paper, so will have to improvise (we use specific paper so not the same as all the other gifts).
-
My kids are playing with their new (and my old) ipad lol.. They love that they now have their own.. Sharing well for the moment but not sure how long that will last 😳
-
we bought them a PW80 motorbike.
They got a four wheeler last year for Christmas.
we just gave it to them now, as they can ride for the weekend...
-
Ooo lots of fun for them.. I still remember when my brother got his first peewee 50 (not 80)... Fun times until i ran it into the fence lol
-
They are just relaxing today, watching Hi-5 ATM, been laying about with books (Miss6 reads the younger 2 stories alot :D )
-
DH took our two to his work followed by a playground. They have had rides on machines and eaten jelly beans and played so very happy atm.
-
riding motor bikes, and swimming
-
The girls have started packing for our holiday!
-
in the pool, now we are home...
-
On their new scooters. So far no accidents. Although I made them wear wrist, ankle and knee pads and helmet.
-
sounds fun Kimmy.
mine will be back on the bikes today
-
After a few hours at the beach the youngest DD & I made a battery powered sattelite dish from her "K'nex" set she got for Xmas - so proud! Now they're watching a DVD.
-
who knows at the moment.... :)
-
Outside with their Dad! :D
-
One fell asleep while I was cooking dinner so is in bed already. The other is grouchy and soon to be in bed too, but at least ate dinner first.
We haven't even that big of a day - just playing with new toys really, but they have of course had a busy few days.
-
it sure does catch up with them jo
1 at a sleep over, and 2 swimming
-
They slept in, had a late breakfast, played under the hose for a while, got dried and dressed, had lunch, asleep again. :-))
What a great life!! :D
-
They are driving me insane !!!!!
-
Snap Frozzie :D
-
How old are your kids Froz?
Mine are in bed again!! For the night this time! :D
-
It must be a full moon as my DD was a little rascal today too! :-)) :D
-
How old are your kids Froz?
Mine are in bed again!! For the night this time! :D
4 and 7 😊
-
My DS was a rascal yesterday. DH gave him 2 jam sandwiches and I think the jam had something in it, as it's not the usual one I give him. Or perhaps it was a full moon :D
Today DS is off doing tip runs with DH. I have cleaned so much the trailers are full of rubbish. 4 large garbage bags of old pillows, plus all the Christmas packaging etc.
-
Cp & eb wouldnt go to sleep. Last night, they were laughing & talking until about 11pm. At least they are still asleep now, dh snori g which is the only noise atm :)
DG, we have another boy who has adhd, his adhd is very mild compared to the one that turned our weekend into madness. Seems they really vary.
-
Oh Hally it is wonderful to see you still care for eb. You are a wonderful, caring person. And another special boy too. These boys are very lucky to have you in their lives.
Yes ADHD is very hard for both the child and caregiver.
DS has been off Ritalin since April and after a few hiccups has settled well at school. He has issues which include immaturity, anxiety, dyslexia, motor skill problems etc. We also notice a big difference in his behavior when he has additives in his diet.
-

Yes we have 3 regular boys now. Eb isnt on medication, he doesnt have adhd but does have other issues, the other 2 are on medication. They are very different one with severe adhd & the other seems so much easier to handle.
Eb is here in busselton on holidays with us, loving it of course :)
Glad your ds has settled at school, it would be hard. He must be doing well if he is off the medication, fantastic news.
:)
-
Thanks Hally. We have had our ups and downs and he has been through a lot this year. He was very close to his pop.
-
Just that you have him off the stuff & has settled at school is wonderful. What a brilliant mum you are :)
-
Why than you Hally. At times I don't feel like one. But I guess we all have those times.
-
Here is one diagnose of the adhad child that is mild, lol So i know your doing well. :)
Diagnoses / presenting issues:
ADHD
Foetal Alcohol Syndrome (this is like brain damage and affects impulsivity, lacking understanding re consequences of actions, lacking remorse …)
Attachment issues
Anxiety
Soiling and wetting (wetting has subsided). He has been soiling himself on weekends, and will deny it (may be due to memory issues or shame). So will need prompting to get changed and to shower
Sensory overload (is very tactile and will touch things which seem inappropriate, such as old batteries, dirt when it’s been raining …)
-
Oh Hally that is so sad. The poor little boy. He has so much going on.
-
I know, they all have issues & his are mild compared to the other adhd child.
Eb has lots of issues too.
We do the best we can for these boys, love 2 of them, the 3rd one we struggle with, but we try :)
The buzz in the office is, "they all want to come to our house" so we must be doing something right :)
:)
-
You ate definately doing a lot of things right.
-
riding motor bikes, swimming in the pool..
-
Been playing with BILs kids while we cleaned and sorted etc. :)
-
in the pool
-
Going back to BILs when miss23mths wakes up!! :-))
-

-

-
Actually been little angels all day! :)
Each one helped me to tidy their own bedrooms, followed by squirting their windows (and me) with water while I cleaned the windows! :D Now all sleeping. :)
-
I took the kids to see Wreck It Ralph today, and bought school shoes for the 7yo. School holidays sure are a strain on the budget!
-
We are going to see parental guidance, cp needs new school shoes (boring shopping so tat can wait :)) & out for lunch :)
-
making sand castles
-
DS5 just rode bike without training wheels!! Woohoo finally.
-
great Kimmy, wait till he rides motor bikes like mine. ;D
-
Have told him and DH that it won't happen while he lives under my roof! They are both too accident prone. But I no it's going to happen without my consent. The old it followed me home trick ;)
-
Today - water squirter fights ...amazing how much fun they can hane with a $1 item from Kmart!! :D
Then massive afternoon sleeps! ;D ;D ;D
-
it is amazing how they do it, Lily loves the $1 bubbles from big w keeps her amused for ages well until she bends over and the bubble mixture spills every where ::)
-
Watched DVD's, played with the dog & took him for lots of little walks.
-
beach, swimming :)
-
Mini golf excursion for school holiday program
-
went to the beach, went fishing, lovely to relax
-
riding motorbikes, we have a ring in, watching dvds.
one is driving me mad..... :-))
-
Poor DS came down with the gastro bug DD and I had last week. It had been a week, so I thought he was in the clear. :(
Sadly he had to miss a combined birthday party for two of his classmates (one is his best friend) that he had been looking forward to since before school broke up last year (they had to get invites out early).
And we had to miss the kids' cousin's birthday party last week when DD and I were sick too. No fair.
So basically not a lot got done here today!!
-
Jo I hope DS is feeling better.
-
He seems to have perked up today - not quite at full speed, but quite happy. ;D
-
It would leave you flat Jo - as you well know. Pity about missing the parties, poor kid.
-
Oh your poor DS Jo. :(
Hope all is better at your place now.
ATM I have 3 sleeping daughters! ;D
-
Ah, precious peace and quiet, Astarra!!
Mine have just FINALLY gone to bed (it's 8:20pm and DD has kindy in the morning). DS is well and truly on the end now. At least he doesn't start back at school until next week, so plenty of time to recuperate.
-
DS5 had his first day of school today......and survived it......and loved it.
No tears for mum until after dinner when he started to rattle on about what he did. My little boy is all grown up now......and the other one isn't far behind him :D
-
hugs kimmy, miss Lily starts kindy next week, not sure how either of us are going to go. 3 and a half is so young for school she's still my baby
-
Aw, Kimmy, big milestone!!! Glad he went well - my DS loved it, and never had any of the "I don't want to go to school" stuff some of his friends had, but it sure made him tired. And he is so well behaved at school but saves the playing up for home!!
DS is so looking forward to school going back. And conveniently we have a public holiday next wednesday so a nice way to ease into it!
The kods are playing nicely today with some duplo. Nice to not have constant bickering!!! ;)
-
My kids loved going back to school, all good.
just tired.
Suzzanne 3 1/2 is so young, is it kindy.
Our kids start prep at 5, turn 6 by june 30 that year.
-
Good luck to the new prep mums!
Funny how each state is different... in Victoria, if you turn 5 by 1 April you can start school that year, although some parents prefer to hold their kids back a year. So you can have 4yo & 6yo kids in the same prep class in term 1! I"m originally from SA, and if I remember correctly, you pretty much started school (reception) the term after you turned 5, so you could start school at the end of the year?
What really gave me a shock was that in Victoria, high school starts in year 7 as opposed to year 8 in SA - less time for mum to prepare herself!
-
In Sydney you need to turn 5 by 31st July. High school starts in Year 7.
My DS is enjoying his last day of freedom before back to school tomorrow :D
-
Interesting - in NZ kids start school when they actually turn 5, no matter when that is (well, they usually start then, but can stay at kindy/preschool/home until 6 but must start by then). So there are kids starting throughout the year.
-
crazy, high school starts in year 7 in qld, next year.
instead of year 8.
they should make schooling all the same, every year, across the country, no matter what state.
teach the same stuff too at the same time.
no wonder its so hard when you change states.
-
I agree Robyn it should be the same Australia wide, curriculum the same and age, how hard can it be?
-
too much red tape, to make it that easy...
-
Robyn that will bring you in line with NSW and Victoria. Yr7 has always been the first year of high school. 1st form when I was at school.
New Zealand now has a yr13 - because of their economy and lack of jobs it keeps the kids at school another year.
Upside down country - you can get your L plates at 15yrs.
-
McMich, NZ school finish age/year hasn't changed as far as I know of...secondary school starts year 9 (age about 13), so I think it's just that year 12 here does not equal year 12 there. If I was at school now, I would finish age 17, nearly 18 (some kids would be 18).
-
I have a neice in Christchurch - she finished yr13 last year. Maybe it was just a trial?
-
kindy is 3 full days one week and 2 full days the next. they turn 4 before
June 30 so she will be one of the youngest and trying to find a school skirt to fit no chance, had to get her dress custom made, they really need to think aboutthese things.
next year full time pre primary 5 days a week and she will be only 4 and a half
-
She will always be your baby Suzanne. Hope all goes well xox
-
thanks kimmy, we do every thing together so a big adjustment for us both
-
Jo, DS good at school and saving playing up for home....you just described my too ;)
I was a June baby and started school at 4 1/2. In year 12 I turned 17 and most of my friends turned 18 several weeks later. I coped. Hard waiting to be legal to drive and drink for sooo long, but it really wasn't that bad :)
-
My 2 are the oldest in their classes with july/august birthdays.
-
DS is at school today (first day back). He was really excited and happy. He has 2 teachers this year (one teaches the early morning, and other after morning tea until end of day), so that's a bit different. And he's not in with his good friends from last year, but a few classmates, so he's happy enough.
DD and I had playcentre this morning, so fun and games there - a small person with purple paint all over their hand must have touched my hair though - I came home with a half purple hair bun! LOL.
DS's school has the age cutoff about June - if they start before that, their first year is "year one", if they start after that, the first year is "year zero".
-
I am babysitting my friends kid and I'm loving it! My only child and our friend are just looking after themselves, playing happily. I'm catching up on paperwork. This is fab!
;D
-
one at school, one sick
-
Purple hair was in, once upon atime Jo ;D
In Victoria, you must turn 5 before 30th April. DS was born 1st May. He missed cut off by 6 1/2 hours!
-
I've got a sick one today, was supposed to be doing a day trip to Sydney :(
-
hopefully 2 at school
-
School then my mum will take him to swimming lessons. I am filling in at my old job today, so working 9-5 today and every 1st Tuesday of the month.
-
Purple hair was in, once upon atime Jo ;D
Hahahahaha!
I'll keep that in mind next time... ;)
-
my daughter loves to spray color her hair.
-
DD back at school ;D
DS having a nap :)
-
It's hot here today but GS4 insisted we go out into the garage and crush cans & bottles so all done now, packed up ready to take to the recycle centre another day. He is being such a good boy and has even let Grandpa watch one of his Foxtel shows instead of kids' programmes for a change.
-
Ds at school and dd at kindy.. Teacher told me yesterday she is so advanced compared to other kids her age here..teacher loves her
-
School today, and DD9 very excited because her name was drawn to bring the class teddy bear home, plus she had a friend over. So after school took lots of pics of the bear doing "stuff", I had to sew a button on it, print out pics and DD had to write a diary entry for it. Glad that's over!
-
school
-
1 at school, 2 played at Grandma's. :)
All home now and on their beds. ;D
-
DS at school
DD at home with me - our quietest day of the week, so she's just helping with cleaning, washing and general jobs around home. And some games/puzzles/playing along the way, of course! ;D
-
school
-
1 at school
2 asleep! ;D
-
School, kinder, swimming, eating, fighting and ........ Sleeping. Just another ordinary day ;D
-
School and kindy. DD was actually not miserable about me leaving her at kindy today - Hooray!!! Progress. She still "wanted" me to stay, but no tears or major clinginess.
-
That is great Jo! :D
I have 1 at school, and 2 playing with food picks and Dad's dirty shed stool....
-
Cute!! Love the food picks too. :D
DD is home again now - had a lovely day at kindy and she and her bestie got a certificate for being so good and walking nicely when they did their fire drill today (they walk down the road to the local school - where DS goes, not that they saw any kids). Awwwww.
-
Deebub our kids did that in France.. Had a class bear called Bigoudie and my dd got to take him on his first overseas trip to Vietnam .. Was lots of fun and the teacher had years of photos of all the kids she taught with Bigoudie .. Such a great idea !!
-
relaxing with other kids here.
My house is always a magnet for lots of kids. :) :)
-
I think the kids are still worn out from the weekend (had their uncle's 40th birthday Sat night and they were up until nearly midnight!!). DD disappeared off to her room while I was cooking tea tonight, and we thought she was playing, but went in to see her and she had put herself to bed - fully dressed, but under the blankets and snuggled up to her caterpillar soft toy. Awwww, too cute.
DS is also really overtired but he shows it by being emotional and very difficult. :-))
-
that's very cute Jo, my boys are the same when overtired but my girls would just go to sleep
the boys are doing homework and Lily is resting on the couch which is pretty much all she's done today and me too since she likes to snuggle a lot when not well
-
Hope Lily is feeling better today suzanne
-
Thanks Kim she's picked up a bit so the antibiotics are starting to work,
I really hope this isn't going to be one of those years where sickness prevails any tips for boosting immune systems I will be forever grateful xxx
-
Probiotics.. Especially after antibiotics.. Its the main thing i give my kids and still give them and they are rarely sick as well of course a healthy diet.. .. For the past few years we have mainly used homéopathic remedies from an md with gréât success.. Works for us..
-
Thanks Kim they have a probiotic daily it's always ear nose and throat issues with my 4 we have a healthy diet lots of sunshine etc problem is one gets a cold they all do so something so simple can go on for months and literally do my head in ::)
-
Have you seen a specialist?? My ds saw a specialist after constant problems and he suggested the removal of his ananoids and he has been fine since.. Think he only had one minor ear infection after and nothing else since.. Its been a few years now.. Maybe something to look at..would def see a specialist to see what your options are.. Its not fun for them to be ill and ear nose and throat probs CAN be painful as u know
-
Some kids are prône more than others.. Ds was shocking.. It was practicalky all the time but dd had a few then nothing.. Ds had to have surgery as it was getting to be too much...
-
Ashton is going to a pediatrician about his giant tonsils hopefully they'll be coming out and next Dr's appointment will see about Lily's ears the other 2 aren't as bad they pretty much catch the cold still annoying though
-
I wish i had all my things..they are in storage.. Every time any
Of us got colds even a snifflé we would take this mix of liquid echinacea (not the commercial stuff but a mixture prepared by a homéopathique chemist) mixed with a couple of other plants.. Was better than any other cold remèdy out there but i dont have our médical files with us..sorry.. Loved our gp.. She was really good and knew what worked and what didnt..
-
was thinking about a naturopath they have vitamin c daily but would love other options too Thanks so much for the advice its greatly appreciated I'm going to find one near me and see if it helps really hoping you get some luck soon so you can start your new life in Australia
-
Thx Suzanne .. Look also if there is a gp who also is a homeopathe.. I would go with a homéopathic gp over a naturopath unless they were really good??
-
okay great homeopathic gp I'll look for
-
school
-
Hope Lily is feeling better, Suzanne. :)
Just got home from taking miss3 to the doc - apparently she has inflamed tonsils, enlarged glands and a double ear infection. :( No wonder the poor child hasn't been herself. :-[
-
Poor child, let's hope the medication works quickly and she is back to normal very soon astarra.
-
Oh no Astarra... Hope she gets better soon x
-
Thanks astarra I feel for you and your DD rotten luck and a sense of deja vou for us both I remember us talking about our kids being sick last year I hope she's feeling better really soon
-
I think all our hot days and perhaps doing a lot of swimming in their pool has tired my little man out today - I can't remember the last time he had an afternoon nap :D
-
cute JD, he looks exhausted.
-
he's adorable Judy ,the hot days do catch up with them
-
Very cute JD!
-
Too cute Judy :)
-
My DH just took our Daughter to the optometrist. Now both kids will have glasses. :)
-
Just had two GK's in for a swim and they have cleaned out the fridge of all the left overs, yeh, now I can start afresh tomorrow.
-
Ds and dd graduated from their swimfit class level tonight.. So proud considering they couldn't swim when we arrived in oz last October ..
-
Congratulations to the kids Kim, they have done well and obviously are enjoying it.
-
congratulations to your dd and ds Kim xxx
-
That is a wonderful achievement Kim, congratulations to them both. You must be so proud! :D
My girls are in tucked up in their beds sound asleep (have been since just before 7pm) having a much needed early night! ;D ;D ;D
-
Thx girls.. I have been amazed at their progress..
Jd dd loves the water and ds is starting to enjoy himself but is alot more rigid than dd.. He is doing really well though..
Astarra I wish my kids were sleeping.. At the moment they are still giggling.. :(

-

1 at school, 2 having their afternoon rests ATM ;D
-
school
-
Kindy this morning for DD, and while there she organised a playdate afterwards with her friend (they are 3), so I just picked her up on the way to school pickup. Now both kids are home and having a snack while watching TV. Both seem very tired today.
-
Eye specialist for dd4 and school for ds7... No kindy for dd today as thy put drops in her eyes and they made her vision blurry for a few hours!! This afternoon i went nd did some art with ds class.. Well supervised...
-
home work now
-
school yeah
-
1 went to school, took the other 2 to the doc, miss3 is ok, miss2 has a suspected UTI or bladder infection. :( Wait now for the results........
-
Love little kids. When I worked at a private school part of my job was to test kids for school readiness, not age. Some are ready at 4 1/2 and some not until they are 6 . It is ridiculous that a child misses out on starting school by one day, if they are ready.
GD has new puppy. It is dropping its baby teeth everywhere. She told her mum that there must be a tooth fairy for dogs, so drew a picture of one. I will try and post a copy of the drawing.
-
(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/05/4yzyhype.jpg)
Tooth Fairy.
-
that is so cute acw ;D
-
OOPS.
-
That's gorgeous Chookie! Love the tooth on its collar! ;D ;D
-
Very cute picture Chookie ;D
-
She's got more talent with drawing than I will ever have Chookie, very cute picture.
-
Great drawing chookie.. How old is gd? I never knew pups lost their baby teeth?? Had two dogs from pups as an adult and never noticed that?
-
Frozzie she is 10. I think the puppies swallow the teeth.
-
How sweet that she wanted to do a dog tooth fairy.. Its funny i never knew dog, lose their teeth and the vet never said a word either lol... Never noticed no teeth at any stage... How funny :)
-
Lovely drawing Chookie :)
I can't even draw stick men!
-
How are your girls, Astarra? Was it a UTI?
I thought DD (3yo) had one a couple of weeks ago, but the test came up negative - it's a total mystery why she was so miserable about going to the toilet!
DS at school today, and DD at her Nana's (my MIL) for the morning. Then miniball after school. I think DD and I might have a girlie afternoon today before school pickup - paint our nails or something. Since she's been at kindy, we don't seem to have spent as much time just hanging out together :)
I LOVE that picture, Chookie! Funny, when you first mentioned the tooth fairy for dogs idea, I was thinking it was going to be a person-fairy not a dog-fairy, but OF COURSE there should be dog fairies too!
Kids have the best ideas ;D
-
love the dog picture :)
-

Yes, unfortunately she did have a UTI - which was apparently a severe one which her body had given up fighting ??? - no wonder she has been sooooooo sick. :( On antibiotics and picking up fast now thankfully! :)
-
Poor love. Us girls know how that feels - down right unpleasant :(
-
Poor DD Astarra, as an adult I know what that feels like, must be so distressing for little ones.
Today the kids spent 4 hours in the waves at the beach. They should sleep well tonight!
-
glad to hear dd is doing better poor love such an unpleasant thing to have
-
I agree, ouch not nice at all. Thank goodness she is responding so well to antibiotics.
deedub, the beach always tires the kids out so I'm sure they will sleep well tonight.
-
Poor dd Astarra. It's good she is getting better. Yucky thing.
Children doing best to stay cool. Like us they are over the hot weather.
-
Glad she is getting better astarra :)
-
Poor wee girl! Glad the antibiotics are doing the trick.
I've got DD home sick today - just woke up grizzly, pale and tired. Luckily I managed to get DH to take DS to school, and DD is fast asleep in the lounge.
-
mine are at school. :)
hope all is ok Jo and Astarra
-
Hope your dd picks up soon Jo.
I have 1 at school and 2 in bed after playing with playdough (I love my TM!!) :)
-
DD's much improved after her sleep. She's still not up to a lot - just watching a DVD. Might have to whip her up a batch of playdough too 8)
-
school
-
fun run at school today
-
School for all 3 in the morning, school for miss6 in afternoon and jobs out of the house for other 2
now all 3 in bed for an hours rest....I'm going too!! :D
-
Gaah! DS is sleeping in again. He is so tired lately! It's 8.05am and we usually leave at 8.30. School starts at 8.55am, so no big panic yet, and his bag is packed ready to go, so it's just breakfast & clothes.
I've been in, opened curtains, and been talking away to him, but he's so sleepy. Is there some kind of growth spurt or hormone change that happens at 6yrs?!?!
Looking forward to a very quiet weekend this week. And easter break coming up next week. He can just take it easy (until DH is home, and he can't stand to sit still, so will take them swimming, out for hours of walking or something).
-
It sounds as though your DS really needs the Easter break Jo.I hope you made school on time :)
-
Keep him Home Jo.
My kids can't wait till next thursday for the holidays
-
We got there on time. He just loves school so keeping him home without him being really sick is next to impossible. It's a shame he's learning to tell the time, or we'd just get him to bed extra early! ;)
I'm planning some quiet activities for after school. DD and I have been out and got some googly eyes, so there will probably be some collage & drawing.
We'll do some quiet activities after school. DD's been tired lately too - we have had a run of busy weekends and lots on. Soccer is cancelled this weekend though, so nothing at all on. :)
-
My 6 yr old is home today from school after being up crying next to all night with a sore ear - she is exhusted, I am exhusted...but the other 2 are full of life! :-)) :)
Just took her to the doc who agreed she has a ear infection - looks like the drum will burst. :( No wonder she was in pain.
-
Oh Astarra that sounds awful. Hope she gets some relief soon.
-
Oh, Astarra, that sounds nasty.
Hope she gets better soon, and sending you a virtual coffee ;)
Did she get some good meds?
Wow, my two are playing quietly!!! :o
DS and I have just been playing a new game - Rubik's Race, which he thinks is pretty cool, but DD was trying to butt in every 2 seconds (she was happily set up with craft stuff nearby). I can see that game being a regular activity - totally suits his style of thinking. Very spatial (or spacey? ;) )
-

The poor darling. That would be very painful. Coincidentally (got shifted to kids ward today - not impressed) I was looking after a gaggle of kids that had grommets inserted.
-
She is on the waiting list to get her 2nd lot of grommets inserted. :-\
While they were in she was a different kid - no ear probs what-so-ever! :)
Thanx for the well wishes - she grinnedwhen she read them but didn't say anything, just snuggled further under the covers. :)
-
I hope your dd starts feeling better soon astarra it seems ears and throats are our children's specialty xxx
-
Astarra, hope she is ok soon. If my DS gets another ear infection, he will have grommets too.
-
DS is over his super-sleepiness - up at 6.30 this morning (yawn!)
It meant he even had time to play with the Rubik Race again before school. Love that he loves it - and that he was happy enough to play on his own for a while.
AND I left DD at kindy this morning with no tears!!! ;D
So a very good morning so far!
Astarra, I hope the grommets operation comes up soon - don't know what it's like over there, but the wait can be pretty long here, although hopefully with such issues she's pretty high up the list!
-
school
-
Thanx again, she seems to be picking up fast which is a good thing. :)
Today the kids have had dad to play with them (& give in to them ;) :-)) ) as I had appnts (Glucose fasting test - had to sit there for 2 hrs, nothing to eat since tea last night...little wonder I ended up fainting on them :-[ :P and other blood tests, then a midwife appnt this afternoon) so DH decided to take the day off to look after them!
-
so sweet, Hope you are ok now Astarra
-
Oh Astarra. Are you feeling better now.
Boys fighting which means DS5 is back to his old self again :)
-
at least cranky and fighting means there on the mend... :D
-
Miss6 at school today - had an athletics carnival so has come home very hot and bothered :)
Other 2 played outside most of the day! :)
-
slipping and sliding. gone through 5 bottles of shampoo... :D
-
That sounds like fun.
-
DS just woke up grumpy (cold coming on, maybe), and now DD is joining in. :-))
Not helpful that due to earlier grumpiness, DH banned him from TV, so no calming down with that today. Oh, well, got a friend of his coming for a play later on, so that should provide some distraction. Although those two boys together seem to make a LOT of mess, and get in plenty of arguments - they've known each other all their lives and sometimes I think they forget they are not 3 anymore and they do actually know how to work things out now.
Slipping and sliding, Obbie! :o Green with envy here.
We're getting to the part of the season now that I realize it's closer to winter than summer. I hung out washing yesterday (on a fine day), and got it in at the end of the day NOT DRY!! >:( Definitely no slip'n'slides here.
-
Sounds like fun obbie!
mine are still sleeping!!!! ;D :o
-
5 kids, all had a blast, sliding down the hill.
cheap way to keep them entertained.
-
school and now shopping
-
Love the new avatar Jo. A sideways look at life. :D
-
Hahaha, did that on my phone and no idea how to turn it round. Might have to send it to myself to fix it on the pc :-))
DD suits the nose and big eyebrows, I think ;)
Kids have played well most of the day today. Rearranged DD s room today - hoping it will help it stay tidy.
-
Gorgeous photo Jo. I love how you young ones post photos of the children without recognising them :D
-
I have one kid, instead of 5 for the afternoon, so its quiet.
-
DS back to school today :) He was looking forward to seeing all his friends again.
DD and I had playcentre this morning which was pretty fun, although very noisy as it's extremely wet outside, so all the kids were inside. Have a bit of a headache, but DD brought her friend home with us, so they are off playing while I recover from the morning! ;)
-
kids are at school, have a extra for a week.
-
Miss6 back to school today again, other 2 not at all impressed to be woken up instead of being left to sleep in.......nuf said!!! :D
-
at school, with the ring in here for a week. :D
-
DS at school. DD has been at kindy, but I've picked her up an hour early today as she hasn't been doing well since they extended the days (she's gotten VERY clingy to me - and not just at kindy). She seemed a lot more lively when I picked her up today. Leaving her this morning was hard, but apparently she settled down very quickly. I hope that stops soon though as it's heartbreaking to walk away from my baby while she cries out for me! :(
The kids and DH are off to watch a basketball game tonight, but sadly I have a meeting to go to, so don't get to go this time. Grrr. Next time (we got season passes ;D )
-
at school
-
Miss6 at school, miss3and miss2 been at pre-kinder, just got home now and are playing farms outside - I seem to have alot of sticks being hammered into my back lawn!!! :D
-
DS at school and DD at her Nana's for the morning. ;D
DD is still in her clingy phase, so DH dropped her over there today, and everyone was happy. Now if only he could drop her at kindy twice a week... :-))
-
miss6 on a school trip today, about to drop miss 2 at her Aunty's place while I take miss3 to pre-kinder. :)
-
Naplan tests this week at school for my DD. :)
-
same for my ds7 Robyn ;D
-
This is where my kids are all day, every day lol ................ (See photo)
They drag the stool over when they're raiding their father's chocolate ......... it's my alert ;D
-
He's very cute Debbie ;D Their Dad will have to find another hiding place for his chocolate :D
-
Has to be in the fridge here CC, so not many hiding places they don't already know lol
-
At least you can be there quickly to save DH's chocolate cache Debbie. Butter wouldn't melt in the little lad's mouth :D Maybe you should give them their own supply and limit how many times a day they can raid it.
-
Very resourceful DS. Love it ;D ;D
-
Ohhh yes, he's a little monkey ! A very cute one at that BUT oh does he keep us on our toes lol. We always say he's been here before !
-
we are bout to get more kids to play today.
about to turn up.
Mine are upstairs in front of the fire..
-
I've left mine home with DH and come to the office - enjoying the break from them actually. Much as I love them, a bit of peace, and being able to do things uninterrupted is a welcome change.
We've had my niece over for a while this morning too, so they will be having a pretty perfect day for them - visitors AND daddy at home to play with! ;D They are going to make a bus from a cardboard box, and DS spent some of the morning drawing up "plans"
-
very cute ds Debbie
is it cold Robyn?
my kids have just woken up so having breakfast
-
Just adaorable Debbie!!!! :D
My 3 have been taken out for the day by my in-laws (with all their other grandies too) so there is just DH and me home!!! ;D ;D
Is enjoyable but missing them too!! :)
-
Suzanne, it was about 9* here this morning, kids are DH are frogs...
Now they are on the motor bikes.
I am sitting here in a sleeveless dress, I always wear tank tops, or sleeveless all year round. ( never feel the cold)
Kids wanted cake, so its in the oven now..
-
at school
-
At nearly 2pm, the temp here has got up to a balmy 12 degrees. I'm not looking forward to soccer training with DS after school!
BUT after that is DS's school disco. He's so excited ;D
-
1 at school
2 been watching Mr Maker and now want to....make. :P Hopefully they will go down for their afternoon sleeps soon. :)
-
Oh, dear, I picked DS up from school, drove around to soccer, parked up and passed him his footy boots and he said "I feel sick", so a hasty drive home, and he's now in bed. Looks like no Disco tonight for him after all!
I'm hoping he';s just tired as it's been a really busy week. Teacher-only day tomorrow so he can just rest.
DD is meant to be going to kindy tomorrow still, but I bet she won't have a bar of that with big brother at home!
-
Things are going round. My 2 were home monday with bad colds.
-
education week at school, so lots on today
-
Both my kids are home sick again. I was hoping that they could go back to school today as they have had the whole week off, but it has been bucketing down with rain all morning, so it is probably just as well that they stayed home. I have spent the morning so far reading a book to them (it was much easier when they were satisfied with picture books rather than a John Marsden novella). I have now had a coffee, and they have had a snack, and the TV has gone on to ABC3 and they are watching a show about fish. DS wants to watch a Star Wars movie, but DD wants the Muppets movie. Sigh.
I'm a little disappointed that we will miss out on the Mad Hatters Tea Party and the screening of the DVD of the school musical that DD was in recently. It is scheduled for after school today. Luckily I have ordered a copy of the DVD, so we will have to watch it at home another day.
-
hope you're kids feel better soon es, hate this time of year xx
-
Thanks - just the usual winter ills. Sore throats and ears, runny noses, and coughs. Back to school next week for them. Luckily work is quiet at the moment so there won't be too much for me to catch up on next week.
-
Hope your kids get well soon, ES.
I've given all of my 3 boys mini hand sanitisers in their lunch bags. Have to constantly remind them to clean their hands before eating though. Colds and flus pass around easily at school.
-
My middle-child-syndrome 11yo has crazy Fridays. He's in the school soccer team, and they have a match today. After school he's got badminton lessons taught by one of the parents. Then in the evening he's got soccer training. CRAZY boy :D
My 13yo has band after school. Fortunately I don't have to pick him up as he cycles :)
So it's just me and my 8yo for a couple of hours. He's going to get loads of cuddles from me, especially after his dental appointment later. Hope it's just a check-up.
-
Not cold during the day, nites are cool.
Just easier to keep the fire going on slow during the day.. :)
-
playing soccer on the deck... ;D
-
Been out with DH for a drive, now playing Barbies then we are all going to the in-laws for a Roast Dinner lunch ;D
-
Not exactly today, but thought I'd share DS3's performance in the Freo Eisteddfod last month. Music plays a big part in my boys' days. Hope you enjoy the video :D

Wow BZB he is really good :)

-
Wow BZB he is really good :)
Thanks Yvette. This lil fella is feisty, with loads of character. Growing up too fast though :(
-
You must be proud. He is very talented. How long has he been playing?
-
bzb your son is brilliant how very proud you should be ;D;D
-
What a talent BZB 8) How old is DS? I noticed he was in the under 10's so quite young.
-
You must be proud. He is very talented. How long has he been playing?
Thanks Bedlam. He started 3 years ago.
-
bzb your son is brilliant how very proud you should be ;D;D
Thanks Suzanne. He makes me smile, and he makes me tear my hair out too. All the time! ;)
-
What a talent BZB 8) How old is DS? I noticed he was in the under 10's so quite young.
Thanks Michelle. He's 8 turning 40. Hahaha
-
He is so tiny and the piano is huge but boy, he can certainly play it ;D Congratulations young man, I love seeing kids play the piano.
-
Oh my goodness......what a talent! Fantastic!
-
Judy & Brumington, thanks :) Here's DS2 doing his thing at Fremantle Eisteddfod last month. He took everyone by surprise (including mummy & daddy) by getting first in the Grade 8 competition ;D :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tC9p1ZHMGoA
-
That is wonderful BZB is he 11? he looks so small. How long has he been playing?
-
That is wonderful BZB is he 11? he looks so small. How long has he been playing?
Yvette, he is 11 and very small in size. He's not happy about that,of course, especially when he plays soccer. Told him to play basketball to jump his way up but he didn't listen ;D
DS2 started mucking around on a digital piano since he was 5. Started with a good teacher and acoustic piano 3 years ago.
-
I enjoyed watching those videos BZB - the musical genes in your family are very strong!! :D
-
I enjoyed watching those videos BZB - the musical genes in your family are very strong!! :D
Goldfish, TQ :D The boys didn't get the genes from Mummy or Daddy. Neither of us had the opportunity to learn.
Here's DS1's Freo piece - a Haydn - to complete the boys' adventures last month ;D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy48krgDdPA
-
Very talented boys BZB you must be proud :)
-
Wow, BZB!! That is wonderful.
I'm off to see DS (age6) in his school concert tonight - not quite of that caliber, but we will enjoy it anyway. It's the Poly Club concert for Matariki (Maori new year) so a bit of a cultural education for him.
DD and I have been to the library today for their preschool story time, and then she asked me to paint her nails blue and sparkly, so it's been all quiet since then - she is sitting on a towel on the couch while the nail polish dries thoroughly, and watching TV so she's very happy. We normally have a no-tv-on-school-days policy. :D
-
Congratulations on your sons' achievements BZB - you must be so proud! :D
Today my kids are playing with all the new toys madam got for her 4th birthday yesterday! So very easy to occupy today! :)
-
school, then soccer for DS
-
jo that is very cute I know when I paint Lily's nails she'll sit on the couch with her hands and feet outstretched for ages probably the only time she sits still for longer than 5 minutes ;D
-
Wish I had a girl too. Painting nails...how cute!! :)
-
we buy heaps of nail polish here....
-
jo that is very cute I know when I paint Lily's nails she'll sit on the couch with her hands and feet outstretched for ages probably the only time she sits still for longer than 5 minutes ;D
Exactly!!!
P needed a quiet afternoon so it was a good way to make her have one!
She^s at kindy today, and DS at school, then if SIL is up for it, we might head to the hospital to meet my new niece....
-
, then if SIL is up for it, we might head to the hospital to meet my new niece....
Awwwwwwwwwwwww. :D :D :-*
-
Bet the kids will be over the moon. Kids seem to adore babies, especially if they are not their siblings. Mine are like that ;D
-
kids at school, then we will have them run in here soon.
Holidays again next week.
-
holidays now
-
DS11's birthday party today - ONE month late! He had 2 major high school entrance exams recently, hence the delay.
The kids got to play soccer, dodge ball and tag at an indoor sports centre. Soccer + pizza + friends + pressies = a very happy boy ;D
-
kids at friends today, holidays here.
they are having a ball. :)
-
Nice, Obbie. It will be our turn in 2 weeks' time.
-
Kids going to play dates again today with other friends...
Now what to do with them for 2 more days this week.
-
My kids are 2 & 4 and drive me crazy most days but this weekend has really taken the biscuit. On Friday my 4 year old fell off his bike and broke his leg. He's in a temporary cast until the swelling goes down and will have the full leg cast put on in a day or two. Despite the obvious problems associated with a broken leg, strangely enough my days had got easier, I mean what trouble can a four year old get up to when he can't move off the sofa? Well today he proved EXACTLY what he can achieve when he managed to get himself from one end of the garage to another, get my DC35 Dyson vacuum cleaner and suck up the contents of the dogs water bowl thus blowing up the motor. This all done in less than a minute while his little brother was being removed from 'time out'. This doesn't happen on Super Nanny!
-
Oh brummington, I had to chuckle. What a horrible day. Those little devils are so quick and of all things, not the dyson! You poor thing. I think we all need a big hook on our walls to dangle our children from, for those times when we want them to stay put. Hoping tomorrow is better.
-
Big hug Brumington :-* :-* You certainly have two little rascals on your hands. My DS broke his arm the same age as your DS4,mine decided to fly like Superman off the top of a climbing frame :-))
Can you claim your Dyson on household insurance?
-
Brumington you've surely had your share of drama for one weekend!! Put it on the list of stories for his 21st!! ;D CC has a good point... Would the insurance cover the vacuum cleaner? Do hope things settle down and you have (a few at least!) smooth days ahead!!
-
Brumington, I feel for you. Boys will be Boys and there will be days like that. :(
At 23 my DS has only come good in the last 3 yrs - by that he was always so impulsive and risk taker.
DS broke his collar bone jumping off the shed roof at 3 1/2yrs with an umbrella trying to be Mary Poppins.
It doesn't seem like it now but the years will fly and you will be giving some advice to another mum with little boys. :)
-
Brumington, your little man is one determined fella! Can't be easy to drag your leg somewhere ;D
-
Mich, that must have been major freak out! Mary Poppins?!? Hahaha :D
-
oh brumington that's a full on weekend, but what would we do without them
-
Mich, that must have been major freak out! Mary Poppins?!? Hahaha :D
Yes, Mary Poppins has a lot to answer for. ;D
-
Michele so glad that the only thing Lily tried to do like Mary poppins was clicking her fingers and cleaning up her toys:D still practicing that one though
-
Little boys are so full on - I have two so appreciate your exasperation Brumington. Luckily they grow in to wonderful young men (proud of my DS 25 who rescued someone in the nightclub zone of Perth last night - he found her unconscious so checked airway and put her in coma position until ambulance arrived).
Probably payback for the time he and little brother decided to get rid of waste paper by burning it in a bedroom 😳

I always thought boys were easier to raise than girls but now you have me rethinking that one with your stories girls LOL. Thank goodness my GS hasn't tried any of those tricks, not yet anyway. You need eyes in the back of your head to be one step ahead of kids. Bad luck about the Dyson though Brumington.
-
Little boys are so full on - I have two so appreciate your exasperation Brumington.
Well done to your DS, Bonsai. Such a well-brought-up young man :)
-
Yesterday , we were out all day, at the beach, out for lunch..
-
LOL you've made me laugh with all your stories! Mary Poppins of all things!!!!!!
-
Just wanted to share how wonderful Dyson are. I called them this morning and told them exactly what happened. They gave me a reply paid address to send it in to. They'll look at it and call me with a quote to fix it and from there I can decide if I'd like to go ahead or not. The cost of fixing will be $45 plus any parts. They charge nothing to look at it, only if I choose to go ahead with the mending. If I do get it fixed, they'll courier it back to me at no charge and all work will be guaranteed for two years. I think that's great service. 😊
-
Sounds good to me Brumington.
-
That's wonderful Brumington. A good ending to what was a very stressful day. :D
-
That's wonderful news about your Dyson Brumington. He's your DS?

Little boys certainly keep you on your toes. :D

Sorry!! I should have asked How's your DS :D :D :D
Thank you for asking. He's doing really well. We're just waiting on an appointment with the fracture clinic to get the full leg cast put on (at the moment he just has a 'back strap' to keep it all in place). He's out of his mind with boredom and is desperate to start getting about a bit but I'm reluctant to allow him to do too much until the proper cast is on. Hopefully it'll only be a few days now.
-
Hope your DS is getting better Brumington.
at school today
-
DD (19) is in Spain on first all girls (6) trip away from home and DS (18) is in Kavos, Corfu on his first all boys (9) trip away from home. Would love to be a fly on the wall. But then maybe not..... :-\. Watched "Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents" on UK TV and it made my hair (what I have of it) stand on end :o
-
Hope your DS is getting better Brumington.
at school today
Thanks Obbie. He's doing well. He's finally getting the full cast put on tomorrow. I'm getting increasingly worried about the break being exposed at the front especially now that he's getting bored sitting around and taking more risks. Hopefully they'll give him some crutches too. My back is killing me carrying him around everywhere!
-
Take care of your back, and get some crutches for him.
:)
Do some stretches for your back too..
careful with lifting..
-
Still school holidays here and I have 5 GK's today. 2 of them are sick so we can't really go out :(
Drawing, building with Lego and making Johnros cookies and cream fudge when baby goes to sleep.
Your poor son Brumington :o
I think you are very wise not letting him do much until the cast goes on.
Take care of your back but easier said than done when you need to carry DS around.
-
Brumington, do you have a chair with roller wheels? Study chair? Easier to move him around.
But
It will be easier for him to get into mischief too ;D
-
Hang in there MF. A few more days to go.
The 2 older ones helped to vacuum the car, after I loaded them up with apple & orange juice made in our fave gadget :) I will have to have low expectation though. Hahaha. Just to get most of the rubbish out and make them realise it is HARD work to clean up ;D
-
have fun MF,
-
So the cast was put on today. It is pretty much his whole leg in plaster! We have to go in again next week to get a window cut in to the front of the plaster at the knee where a graze has gone septic. He kept complaining that his knee hurt and I kept telling him that he meant his shin but lo and behold, when the bandage was removed, sure enough he DID mean his knee! The bad news is, we are not allowed crutches as he's too young. The doctor recommended redesigning our stroller a bit by putting a plank of wood under his bottom and sticking out the front so he can rest his leg on it. Within five minutes of telling my neighbour, our stroller had been redesigned! Gotta love good neighbours!
-
You sure do, what a great help that would have been for you. Poor kid, he knew something wasn't right and he was right ;D
-
Brumington so sorry to hear about your son. I can empathize though - DS6 is in an arm cast at the moment and it has been hard work keeping him occupied over the school hols! They get so bored.
-
sports day today
-
Cooking with my little sister today ;D Keeping them occupied, while I just rest and look after the baby. :D
-
Potty training day #1 (take 2) today!
Now that we have finally settled into the new house, it is most certainly time.... Only 2 accidents so far today, but I am exhausted!!!
-
Kids came home with 6 ribbons for sports day, so both very happy. ;D
-
Jamberie,i feel your pain!
-
Jamberie,i feel your pain!
No pain, just numb now! Desperately hanging out for DH to get home!
-
Potty trainings a hard one - better numb than pain. All of a sudden it clicks with them and comes together.
Just all the mopping up, extra washing and vigilance in the mean time. :-\
-
Just all the mopping up, extra washing and vigilance in the mean time. :-\
Yes! And the previous owners of our house didn't have kids, so the only rooms without carpet are kitchen, laundry & bathrooms! We've done LOTS of cooking today! Tomorrow we might do lots of water play in the sink!
I'm just waiting for that moment that she "gets it", then I'll be able to relax a little. Til then I can't plan to do anything so I'm reading the forum on my phone :)
-
Congrats to your kids, Obbie :)
Hang in there, Jamberie!
-
I am sure it will happen soon, girls are usually quicker. It was very difficult with our liitle fc ,he has contact twice a week at different grandparents and the 2 days daycare. Everyone with different ideas and pushing him. He has just "got" it this week, well number ones anyway and he is 31/2. Luckily i have mainly bamboo floors!
-
It is hard for the child when they are here, there and everywhere Denise - much easier if the training is coming from one person. I spoke with one Grandmother in a playground who refused to help with training on her babysitting day, not my job she said. Guess we are all different.
-
Yes Judy it was. Especially as i didnt want to start and other ignored me. I then had to stop everyone give him a break and start a fresh when i new he was ready. Hard lifevfor innocent souls all the time.
-
Driving me mad :)
Including argument with DS8 that he should be doing an hour of school work today, instead of half an hour as need needs to make up for not doing it yesterday (yes we are on summer holidays but he is struggling, to the point of being kept back a year)
I should add, school work usually devolves into a fight. Just had another as he refused to colour in some blocks in a coloring pencil rather than pencil. I apparently didn't understand, that's how it was supposed to be done and so on. I then pointed out the text at the bottom of the page that said exactly what I said. *sigh*
He basically hates me, feels I treat him unfairly, I'm too harsh and so on and I'm fed up with his attitude, lack of trying & listening.
-
Tarasis, I feel for you. My boys are constantly driving me bonkers; either one acts up or all 3 in one go!
-
Kids have days like that Rob..
home today for the weekend
-
Rob, boys are known to mature a little later. Try and take a few beathes and a step back. It is so hard to do but looking back (ds24,dd22andd19 now) there were so many pressures and worries yet they have all got there in the end.
To stay down at 8 may not be the end of the world ,sometimes as bad as we think things are at the time in hindsight they were helpful.
I can remembervthe frustration but its not worth harming a relationship.
Saying this both DS at home and believe me the dramas just get bigger and louder in our house.
-
Tarasis, he definitely does not hate you. Not when you cook such brilliant food ;D
Kids need boundaries. I'm sure you are the best judge of his character but even if you "soften" a little, do not let him get away with murder. We are their parents, not their friends. Not when they are little anyway. I've seen my bratty cousin turn out to be a useless adult, with a warped idea of how the world owes him a living.
-
BZB lots of kids like that.
Mine should come home soon, they are up the road for a sleep over. :)
-
Rob, boys are like that. My DS just turned 8, and he has his days, and not wanting to go to school.
-
Rob, our Mr6 is a bit of a toad and hates us to tell him what to do. He has always always tried to put his own spin on even the simplest instruction. Ask him to take a toy to his room and he'll go and get out a (clean!) towel and lay it on the floor and drag the toy down the hall on it, or some other random thing. I tell myself he'll make a great, independent, innovative adult....if I don't kill him before he lives that long.
Honestly it's like talking to a brick wall to explain why something might actually NEED to be done in a certain way.
DS is back at school this week, and DD is at kindy today, so I am home alone!! Ah, the peace and quiet! I am doing paperwork from home today, so it's not all fun and games, but certainly fewer interruptions. ;)
-
My DS is here sick now.
I took him to school, but got him at 10am..
-
Sick kids for me today. DS6 has really been sick since yesterday with gastro, DS8 conned me with saying he's got tummy ache and reckoned that he was getting it too !! Hmmmmmm
8 year old boys are very frustrating !! Mine never wants to listen, he's doing ok at school but it's a battle to get him to do his homework Tarasis. My latest little trick is emailing his teacher. He has a healthy fear of getting in trouble with his teacher. She's strict but fair (just what he needs lol). Soooo if he won't do his homework I go to my computer and start typing an email to his teacher that goes something like this ........ Dear Mrs XXXX, J has had plenty of opportunity to do his homework this week and has chosen not to do it. Please send him to support fort (where they go in their lunchtime if they don't do their homework) and whatever else you deem necessary to punish him.
He stands over my shoulder as I type and he moves his little butt soooooo fast it's hilarious !
He also doesn't like to listen to us so this last week I've been saying to him ............ Ok so you think you're old enough to not listen. So you think you're like an adult already ! Ok, so you can do your own washing, meals (without cooking so he would be very limited what he could eat), clean up after yourself ! He loves his food so the thought of eating say fruit and cereals isn't too appealing lol and for the time being it's working !! Nothing works for long with him though lol !!
Good luck ! It's hard finding just the thing that works with them !
-
Life sounds challenging in your house Deb and I love the way you deal with your DS. You must run out of ideas at times though LOL
-
Kids are such a challenge aren't they? Mine are too young (2 & 4) for emailing teachers but I'll remember it for future use. Its truly amazing what a phone call to Santa can achieve with my two though!
I'm dealing with sickness too. Quite literally had enough of it too. We had a bout of impetigo with both boys followed by a broken leg with DS4 and now on a dose of croup for DS2. Hubby due back tonight and I've never been so desperate to see him ( he works away for 28 days at a time). So hard. 😔
-
Yes Judy, I do run out of ideas. He's quite smart, so I have to get smarter lol. My Mum reckons my DS8 is my payback for what I put them through when I was a kid.
Ohhhh Brumington, I'd be in a loony bin by the time my husband got home after 28 days grrrrrrr. My g/f's partner pretended to be Santa and called my kids when they were younger ....... it was amazing to see their faces and ohhhh yes it did work back then. I have to be careful not to overdo the Santa thing now that my son's 8. He's very suspicious (I think he knows but won't admit it to me because we told him if you don't believe you don't receive so he's not wanting to risk it lol), but I can't say too much in case he blabs to the younger two (6 and 4).
-
I do the santa at north pole message, and the kids still believe. If you don't believe you get nothing... works here too
some kids grow up too fast. :)
-
My poor kids, so run down 😞. My four year old was at the doctor yesterday with a temperature of 39.5, a sore throat and a concern over a septic knee on his broken leg. It was redressed and we have AB's for him. My two year old was also at the doctors with a temperature of 39.3, a chest infection, impetigo (school sores) and conjunctivitis. He had croup last weekend. Now as I type my four year old has just pointed out that he has spots too. We came away from the chemist rattling yesterday!
-
Ohhh no Brumington !! I hate winter, it's hard to keep the kids well through winter ! I have 3 sick kids at the moment all at different stages of gastro ...... no fun !
-
my DS is asleep now, sick from a ear ache
-
Wishing all the kids that are feeling poorly a speedy recovery. :)
-
Hope all your sick kiddies get well soon.
Not sure if we have been lucky so far this winter, or it's due to a change of habit. I've packed little hand sanitisers in my boys' lunch bags, and they are under strict instruction to clean their hands before eating. I'm sure compliance is not 100% but it helps a little.
-
So many sick kiddies around!
We seem to be having a healthy week this week - have had a few different bugs visitng our house, but happily everyone seems clear of them for now.
Kids are vaccuming the lounge after spending the last 20mins with a piece of paper and a hole punch! :o
-
my DD is sick today, earaches, sore throat, temp..
-
Hope she gets well soon, Obbie
-
thanks BZB
-
Only one child at home today, other two finally back at school ! I'm not sure whether I'm now getting their gastro bug now though .......... I really hope not ! This bug started in our house last Monday DS6 had it pretty much all week, DS4 a couple of days and DS8 a couple of days. I'm over it GRRRRRRRR !
My parents come up every second week from the coast and stay over to catch up with us and the kids. I warned them last week that it would be better to stay away. On Friday the kids did seem a bit brighter but DS8 hadn't yet started with the bug so they came up.
We just got a phone call from my Mum asking what the bug was called ..... Gastro Mum. Oh why ? Because you're Dad's got it and I need to ring the bowls club and let them know he can't do his security stint today lol. I don't find it funny that he's got the bug BUT I can just hear my father cursing us lol and also I find it hilarious that my Mum had to ring to ask what it was.
-
Oh, no, I hope you don't come down with it too!
DS is at school and DD at kindy - no tears today when I left ;D Progress - just needs a no-fuss and quick approach from a teacher to distract her as I go and she is fine. Sometimes I think they make for of a big thing than they need to and it makes her worse.
-
Kids are good, DS at soccer practice. :)
-
All 4 having an afternoon sleep ATM ;D Bliss! ;D
-
Wow Astarra. Didn't think that was possible. Enjoy your bliss.
-
Wow, Astarra, that's impressive!!
DS at home sick again today. Was sick on Weds, bounced right back Weds night, woke up singing on Thurs ;D , so sent him to school. He lasted the whole day of school but then came home and put himself to bed. Has a bit of a fever now, but pretty happy.
He's a bit sad that we missed miniball, soccer practice, and most likely will miss the soccer festival day tomorrow (usually it's just games within the club, but there's a multi-club day tomorrow).
I arranged for a friend to pick up DD for kindy today, which actually worked really well. Much easier than dropping her off - she gave me a kiss and went happily off with her bestie.
-
at school, yeah
-
riding motorbikes, we have 2 extras this weekend.
-
1 asleep
1 at Grandma's
2 weeding the vege patch (to get it ready for adding chook poop to the soil.)
:D :D :D :D
-
You are super mum to super kids Astarra :)
-
school
-
DS14 is at a Talented Writers' Workshop at the Fremantle Children's Literature Centre, organised by his school. Third workshop this year. The kids will meet author Matt Ottley this time.
Love these workshops as he would come home inspired! :D
-
that is great BZB
my 2 at school
-
DS at school.
DD at home, and we have a friend of hers over for a play today. The girls are playing so nicely!
So different to yesterday when DS had 2 friends round after school (so we could take then to miniball with us) - 3 energetic 6yr olds on a rainy afternoon after being inside all day was CHAOS! ;)
-
I can imagine, Jo :-))
I have miss6 in bed with an ear infection and sore throat today
miss2 and miss4 about to go down for their afternoon sleeps
babyA just had a feed and in bed going to sleep too :D
-
:) DS was sick Sun, Mon, Tues, now DD is home sick today..
-
So many bugs going around!! DS has recently recovered from a flu-like thing too. Still coughing a bit at night, but that's him (mild asthma).
Hope your kidlets are feeling better soon Astarra & Obbie!
Just found out the brother of one of the kids who were here yesterday has come out in chicken pox...wonder if little bro is getting it to and if my kids exposed... Could do without another bug just now, but what will be will be.
-
One asleep on me the other having quiet time.
-
4 asleep - again!! This is amazing!!! :o :o :o ;D ;D ;D
-
supermum Astarra again
-
playing cars in the mud pile
-
Busy weekend.
Yesterday DS8 at North of Perth Music Festival, Grade 5 competition. Today DS11 at soccer match in Mandurah. DS14 going out to film book trailer for school assignment this afternoon.
The piano performance:

-
Your boys are amazing BZB. :D
Right now I have baby asleep and the other 3 building towers with Duplo. :D
So I am having some time to forum!! ;D
-
Wow BZB! Busy boys!
School holidays here, so just cruising around. DS has just popped down to the neighbours to play lego. ;D Nice to have some quiet time with DD without them fighting ;)
We went to the botanic gardens yesterday to see the tulips and feed the ducks. It was raining so we were nearly the only ones there. Often I'd put off going for a fine day, but actually it was great!
-
kids are at grandmas
-
DS being at the neighbours didn't last too long - both boys appeared back here for more playing! ;D
-
We might take the kids out on the paddle steamer to look at wildlife and crocs! Other than that lazing by the pool or maybe breakfast with the birds. But we are kind of putting everything on hold until my best friend gets out of hospital :/ hope it is today.
-
DS is at home, DD about to go to friends.
-
ope your friend is OK INAID. :)
Today DH had the afternoon off and we all went for a drive so now I have all 3 older ones in bed asleep and the baby is about to have her last feed and go down for the night too. ;D
-
We went to scienceworks and are all tuckered out now. Boys sleeping peacefully tonight.
-
play dates
-
Miss 12 is at the Royal Show working on the Scout stand today, so she should come home tired and then tomorrow night she heads off on a 30km hike on the Bibbulmun (sp?) Track with the Scouts again. I am guessing Sunday night she may be a little tired and grumpy.
Miss almost 17 is doing a marathon EES (Earth and Environmental Science) tute at school today. She has a great teacher who will bribe them with chocolate all day and review everything together.
Then she has a Biology exam tomorrow and 2 exams next week.
Yup - all over the school hols, apparently the year 12's "volunteered" to do these exams over the holidays. :( They are not impressed.
-
That seems a bit harsh Nikkit - exams when they are meant to be on holidays. ???
Hope they get extra credits for it.
-
We had a friend of DS's over for a playdate this morning, then a birthday party next door. Just packing up now to go away for a couple of nights with SIL, BIL and 2 little cousins.
-
Nope - no extra credits Astarra. >:(
To top it off we only found out about 2 weeks before the school hols anyway - so it would be rather annoying if families had booked a holiday away and then found out their child had exams on.
-
Seems pretty common for year 12s to do their mock TEE during holidays. I know we were warned at the beginning of the year when my kids were in high school.
-
Bonsai - I wish we were warned at the start of the year - not 2 weeks before they actually happen!
These exams are ATAR (like our old TEE) her WACE exams are in November.
-
Finger-painting here today ;D
-
Ah, rats. End of the holidays and we have Chicken Pox!! :-[
Just DD so far, and she is reasonably happy at this stage. The kids are playing with matchbox cars at the moment, and we've made some playdough.
-
That's tuff Jo. Glad DD isn't too uncomfortable.
-
school :)
-
It's actually ended up being one of our busiest at-home days of the holidays! There's been playdough (pulled out multiple times for more), cars, painting, nail polish, and melting down old crayons.
DS has also made a birthday card and decorated some plain paper to wrap a birthday present for his friend whose party is tomorrow.
I zipped out to the pharmacy earlier to get some pinetarsol to put in the bath, but now DD is refusing to get in! :-))
Definitely still got more spots appearing - one nasty looking on in her armpit :-[ Poor thing. But still mostly happy.
-
Chicken pox, I hope it clears up so Jo..
-
Poor DD, Jo. :(
Hope the others don't get it.
-
Jo, you can daub the pinetarsal straight onto the itchy areas. An antihistamine may help if the itch becomes unbearable. The pharmacy will be ale to recommend one suitable or her age.
-
Sorry to hear your DD has chicken pox Jo.I hope she's not suffering too badly.A horrible time for little ones when they contract the illness.
-
oh jo, I hope your dd isn't too itchy I still remember having them was not pleasant from memory and touch wood only 1 of my 4 have had them.
-
Oh Jo that's not good. Hopefully she's not too itchy and feels better soon.
-
1 at school, 2 asleep, 1 doing puzzles. :D
-
2 at school. :D
-
now at a friends... ;D
-
swimming, the warm weather has finally made an appearance thank goodness I was starting to think it would never arrive :D:D
-
Miss7 in bed home from school with a temp and head ahe
miss4 giving me a 'make over' - I must have about 1000000 clips and elastics in my hair ATM, but she is having fun! :-\
Miss2 asleep
Miss5mths asleep.
:D :D :D
-
I hope miss 7 feels better soon
I love having a makeover astarra so much fun :D
-
sounds fun astarra
-
it was great fun, tho I have a few tangles to contend with now..... :-\ :)
-
My kids are feral tonight, refusing to eat tea, fighting with each other, arguing and back chatting. Grrr think it's early bed time for my lot
-
My kids are feral tonight, refusing to eat tea, fighting with each other, arguing and back chatting. Grrr think it's early bed time for my lot
Mine too ............ roll on bed time ! It started from the minute I picked the two school kids up and it's still going now ! DS5 is an angel on his own with us all day and THEN the other 2 get home and chaos reigns with all 3 !
-
nearly the end of term my 3 youngest ones always go a little troppo at this time of year ::)
-
Yesterday DS finally scored his first goal in a minball game!!! Wish I had a camera on standby to capture the smile on his face! Priceless.
AND then he played a second game for the team I coach as one player was away, and he scored a goal in that game too!
And today DD let me say goodbye and leave her at kindy without any crying or hint of sadness. FINALLY!!
One happy and proud mummy here. ;D
-
well done to your ds Jo :D
-
Congrats to your DS, Jo. Yay for your DD too :)
-
Yay Jo
-
Dentist today for DD 13 and DS 16. They both needed fillings and a needle to numb the area :(
Ouch. I hate the sound of the drill
-
Good news all round in your house Jo ;D
-
Just got home from taking DD for her 4yr old immunisations. She (and the nurse) did really well - the nurse brought in the 2 syringes all ready to go and had the first one over and done with before DDeven knew it was happening. 2nd one was apparently the worse one, and she got a bit upset but a few cuddles and she is back to her usual self. The 2nd one looks a bit red so will probably be a bit sore. Taking it pretty quietly for the rest of the day.
DS really needs his Xmas holidays to start...getting major meltdowns in the morning before school. He loves school, so it's not about going, just random little things. Today he lost the plot over putting on sunscreen!
There has just been so much on lately and it's all getting a bit much, I think.
-
Its the heat, end of year, and all the lead up to Christmas that sends the kids and parents in a tiz...
Hope all is well Jo
-
Last day of school today, then they have been playing with the sprinkler all afternoon. ;D
-
Same here Astarra, in spite of the cold southerly! So after school & kindy finished, we had sprinkler play followed by a hot shower to warm up :-)) Crazy monkeys.
-
Jo my kids are the same. Miss two was upset from the moment she woke this morning. Last day for them though. E was asleep from the moment he hit the pillow.
-
All in bed asleep now ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
8am here, and both kids are still in bed!! Hooray - the NEVER EVER EVER sleep in!
-
Enjoy the peace and quiet Jo before the kids wake up. :D
-
My 3 eldest didn't surface til after 9 this morning, baby had been up for a feed and had gone back to bed by then. :D
... but mine do sleep in generally whenever they can so I wasn't surprised. :)
-
Kids are just getting up, i can hear them upstairs.
Hopefully they will be in the pool again today.
-
DS and DD are just taking a lunch break from their lemonade stand out the front of the house. They think they have done GREAT - there have been 3 customers. Actually, I think 2, plus a lady who stopped to chat. ;D
Supposedly DS is going to do this every day during the holidays!
-
Bless them Jo, I'd stop by myself if I was nearer. Have never seen kids doing this but it was something they did in the 'old days'.
-
He's quite the entrepreneur. Apparently this is to make the start up fund for him and his friend's "company". I have no idea what this business will involve, but will let you all know when they start shipping internationally ;)
Judy, I think I tried it just once as a kid. We lived in a small cul de sac though, so wasn't very successful. :D
-
Good on him Jo. Gotta start some where.
-
How cute!
-
That's so cute Jo :D :D
-
That is so lovely Jo. My kids once made "perfume" from the flowers in our garden and tried to sell it to the neighbours. They didn't have too many takers ;)
-
sounds good Jo.
-
Awww that's the stuff memories are made of Jo. So cute. :)
-
my kids have been sick lately from ghardia. Both at the doctors now.
-
Oh no Obbie!
-
Hope they are better soon, obbie.
-
Oh no Robyn. Hoping they get better soon.
-
I hope your kids recover soon Obbie.
-
Obbie, that's a nasty bug. Here's wishing your children a very, very speedy recovery!!
-
Do you mean Giardia Robyn? I hope the doctor can give them something to hasten their recovery, poor kids.
-
Hope they recover quickly Robyn. Bad water somewhere? My Lily has got another bout of tonsillitis. Booked her into a ENT today. Next appointment July :o
-
Where did they pick that up from Robyn? It is nasty.
-
Hope they're much better now, Obbie :(
-
What is with the sick kids ATM? ???
My miss4 vomited 5 times - all exactly half an hour apart yesterday morning from 6am - 8:30am. :P Poor kid.
-
I have 2 big sick kids. Dh and DS. Seems there are some nasties around ATM.
Hope you dd is feeling better.
-
yes thanks, all back at school this week. :)
-
I'm early as this is happening tomorrow...
Miss 12 is speaking at Government House in front of about 400 odd people for the Scout Medallion Awards. She did it last year and blew me away, so no doubt she'll stand up there and speak beautifully again this year.
;D Just a little bit proud ;D
-
That's great Nikkit, how is she involved with the scout movement?
-
You have every right to be proud Nikkit - she sounds an amazing girl. :)
I had an email from someone yesterday asking me if my daughters could model for her, and have their pictures taken for her website. (she sells hair accessories etc.)
I was not expecting it, so was surprised....and rather proud too, ;D
-
That's awesome, Nikkit! :)
Which daughters, Astarra? All of them? :D Do you get a talent fee? When DS11 was 4, he was featured on a marketing brochure. He used some of the money to buy toys for him and his brothers
-
Yay for your gorgeous girls too Astarra ;D
Miss 12 is a Scout now, has been in since she was 6 when she could join up as a Joey. She has moved up to a Cub and now a Scout. She will be a Scout until she is about 15 - 15 1/2 I think, then a Venturer if she wants to continue. At this stage she loves it and would love to be a PL (patrol leader) - at the moment she is an APL (assistant patrol leader) of her patrol. She does as many camps as she can and has a pretty impressive list of Leadership skills. The Scouts is an amazing group and I am so glad that our girls have had the chance to be involved. There are so many opportunities.
(did that answer your question Judy ??) :)
-
Yes thanks Nikkit. So there are no Girl Guides now? In my day, scouts was for boys and girl guides for girls.
-
That's awesome, Nikkit! :)

Yep - all 4 of them! They get to keep the accessories and also get paid :D Will make a fun day/few days I think!! :)
-
Good luck with the day astarra, I hope the girls enjoy it. Are they excited?
-
Absolutely!!! :)
Think excited might be a bit of an understatement ... :-)) :D
-
I hope the girls have a great time Astarra. My late dog who was a Golden Retriever was used in a photo shot for outdoor clothing.I got a free coat :D :D
-
There is still Girl Guides Judy, but not as many as there used to be. At some stage they decided girls could join Scouts - not too sure when - must have been in the last 25 years as I was once a "Brown Owl" with School of the Air Brownies!! (not a job I willingly volunteered for I might add) And it was diabolically boring! The girls had to cook, clean, sit like ladies, sip tea with their pinkie out and knit when all they wanted to do was go camping and light a camp fire and cook damper and get dirty ;D
Miss 12 spoke beautifully on Sunday, my Mum and I were so proud and decided (un-biased-ly of course :-)) ) that she spoke better than the MC! Plus the Chief Commissioner came up to her later and congratulated her on a great job and she even spoke with Malcolm McCusker our Governor General.
And the ballroom at Govt House in Perth is so elegant and lovely.
Astarra your girls will be stars, I hope they - and you - have lots of fun :)
-
Fantastic Nikkit! You must have gone through a few packs of tissues :)
When I was a girl guide in high school donkey years ago, we had a lot of fun. Cooking outside, jamborees, singing around campfires, hiking, competitions. Learnt so many things to collect badges, even firefighting. One of the highlights of my teenage life :)
-
That was interesting to read Nikkit, I never had anything to do with girl guides so had no idea they were trying to turn females into ladies and grooming them for household duties. I can see the boys would have been having a great time and obviously no lesson in how to become a good husband!
-
Great Astarra :) girls will be happy
-
Judy It may have been different in each group, but that's what we did. Sounds like Beezeebee had fun :) (and what you did is similar to what the Scouts do these days)
I have to say I have no idea what the boys did in Scouts as I never had anything to do with that back then.
Surprisingly - no tissues needed this time Beezeebee - the aircon wasn't blowing directly in my eyes ;D :-))
-
Nikkit and Astarra you both must be so proud.
-
I have 2 asleep and 2 at school ATM :D
About to have a rest myself, not a normal thing for me but have an infection in my scalp (where I had the cyst cut off) and feel a bit crap. :P :(
-
Grab a rest whilst you can Astarra and I hope you feel better soon.
-
Astarra, take care, i had wondered how you got on with your procedure.
When do the girls do their modeling? Bet you come away with some great prof photos too.
-
I hope you feel better after your rest Astarra. :-*
-
Take care Astarra. Hope you feel better after your rest.
-
Hope you feel better soon.
-
I hope you got a nice break Astarra. :-*
Kids are at school/kindy today, so it's washing AGAIN for me. How do we make so much?!
We had a weekend away though, so partly it's from that. We tagged along while DH had a job in Blenheim. If anyone heads down that way, Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre is well worth a look. And for the kids, ECO World aquarium in Picton was great - they loved touching a tuatara and watching the sharks & stingray. It was excellent value too and cost the 4 of us $33 (50% discount with ferry tickets) including a great guided tour while the creatures were fed. Smaller scale and not as "fancy" as some aquariums we've been to, but the best overall experience. ;D
-
I've been there Jo, reckon the kids would have loved it! :D
Thanks everyone, getting the stitches out today and a check to make sure the infection is going not getting worse. :)
-
Hope you are feeling better astarra.
DS goes back to school 2morow.
-
I have 2 asleep and 2 out in the man cave with DH ATM, :D

Two boys getting wet in the trampoline in between down pours. I wish I felt like weeding. Mount foldmore is calling again so I'm looking for ideas to bake for afternoon tea.

My 3 oldest are at a friend's place having crocheting lessons, baby is sleeping. :D
...but, I am lonely. :-))
-
Astarra it would be quiet for you. Perhaps a liitle pamper time.
-
AStarra enjoy the spare time.
my 2 are good, went to school today.. :)
-
Maybe they will crochet you a blanket :)
-
I now have 1 asleep, 1 tidying her bedroom, one vacuuming the lounge and 1 watching mythbusters with dh... all their own idea - well maybe not the sleeping one but the older 3 chose :D
-
Wow! You are doing brilliantly with your girls, Astarra. Two chose to do chores! 👏👏
I'm training my young men to have responsibilities. They have their set of duties everyday like washing up and vacuuming. But they would not volunteer for more duties 😁😁
-
I think my DS is "tidying his room" at the moment too - but that actually means just sitting on the floor playing. :D Oh well, he's happy and not annoying his sister. :P
DD is doing some art.
-
DS Is at soccer, 3 games.
DD is here, with a friend, in the pool, slip and slide, now on motorbikes.

-

my 2 are swimming, at the beach, with DH.
I spent about 2 hours with them, before I got out. :)
-
Kids have been bugging me since school finished, so today we did the stationery shopping! And then went to spend their Christmas/birthday vouchers.
-
I'm sure they enjoyed that.
-
We went to see Night at the Museum and then bought new school shoes for all 3. Then they were roped into cleaning their wardrobes LOL.
