Recipe Requests / Using up condensed mlk
« on: February 13, 2013, 11:22:19 am »
Using up condensed milk? Any suggestions please?

Almost a full tin opened by DS to go with pancakes yesterday.

We are back to fierce budgeting so it needs to be a good but not extravagant recipe using lots of expensive ingredients.

Thanks so much xx

Non Thermomix Recipes / Fab cheat for flavour
« on: January 18, 2013, 10:07:12 pm »
This recipe made for Christmas is the most delicious addition to a beef stew.
I added 1 heaped d to a stew this week instead of sweating onions...
Wonderful depth of flavour... Will do again.

Chit Chat / A forum Christmas
« on: December 25, 2012, 03:11:57 pm »
*: and the forum have made our day.

We woke and after a quick read on here and several cups of tea using Marie's mug, we each read one of the books which arrived from my SS. Miranda Hart is very funny. DH is enjoying Clare Balding book, we ll swop after.

While I cooked lunch I used  *: and made vanilla custard with recipe help from JD, and my lovely vanilla pods sent by a still secret person, thank you very much. I used Amy's tea towel and oven glove while cooking. After the Queens's speech we are going for a walk, I will be wearing Amy's boot socks. When I get back will try to set up my kindle, my present from DH.
On the Christmas pudding we had clotted cream sent by anther forum member. I couldn't find the choccy soufflé puts in the freezer so had real Christmas pudding instead. It has funnily enough travelled all around the country with us! LOL.

We really appreciate the warm friendship from on here, and we raised a glass to you all at lunch time.

Cheers to one and all.

« on: December 08, 2012, 06:12:20 pm »
Which kindle should I have for birthday and Xmas?
DH says I can have one now.  ;D

I have looked and it seems a bit confusing.
I do have an iPad and iPhone, so not sure I need Internet, or do I to keep up with technology.

So all help please in choosing the right one for the job, whilst being sensible.

Thanks so much.

« on: November 22, 2012, 07:04:30 am »
Hi there
Please can you help me and suggest cooking/craft activities for b6 and g9 for school hols.

Baking of cakes and biscuits etc is NOT allowed! Pizza as a very special treat might be allowed once only.

Methinks salt dough Christmas tree decorations so need to find NON  *: recipe for this.

What would be good presents they could, make their parents? I am looking for ideas as I am a bit out of practice. I also need time to prepare and if need be to ask for things for activities to be bought.

Thanks  very much to all.

Chit Chat / Keeping fit, staying strong
« on: November 05, 2012, 09:06:39 am »
Since moving Have been trying to walk an hour most days... But not always succeeding.

Not as active here as on farm, but want to stay strong.. And fit, and I find for first time in life am gaining weight, either hormones or  *: or both. However i am not eating more and have never dieted in my life so it is a shock to find clothes getting tighter!

Have dug out rebounder from pile in garage and am going to try to use that few mins several times a day as well as the walking.
I originally had it as rehab after accidents, used for post concussion and post # ankle. No room in last place for it.

Please help me keep it up and/or join me...?

Non Thermomix Recipes / Marinated beef skirt
« on: November 02, 2012, 09:34:28 pm »
Got this sort of thing marinating now, with few tweaks. Beef skirt for fajitas.

http://www.reluctantgourmet.com/blog/meat-recipes/grilled-marinated-skirt-steak/

Balsamic instead of red wine vinegar ( had none)
Blitzed a quarter lemon as well.

For fajitas when back tonight. Out all day will report later.

Edit: they were good. Slightly hot with all the pepper. The men wolfed it down. Cheaper than rump steak.

Success. Will post in non  *: thread.

Copied from new recipe thread.
Hope it makes sense.
