Lovely to hear from you Robyn.  I donít get on here much these days.  My Mum is now 90+ so spend a bit of time in Port Pirie with her.

Marina, I hope your imagination is wrong and when you get there you wonít have to spend too much time clearing.  It will be nice to have a change of scenery!

Enjoy your new ovens Chookie!  I just love salmon & also chicken done in the combi steam!  Wayne and I have come to Glenelg for four nights.  Have had so much going on it will be lovely to have have a break for a few days.

Sorry to here your news Mab.  I feel so sorry for all the hospital workers (I have two daughters).  Having to wear PPE all day isnít fun and they feel so tired after their shifts with all the extra demands besides the masks ect.

Thatís good Chookie.  Today I ordered a half tray for my steam oven and some telescopic racks.  My steam oven is just a little high or Iím a little short but I think they will help to bring out food without me feeling like it might drop on me!!!  Winnings also have them out for half price which is always great!

How exciting Chookie.  Bet you canít wait for the ovens to arrive and you can start playing.  Is your daughter-in-law still happy with her VZUG?  Iím happy with mine but disappointed that now only Winningís Appliances are allowed to see them.  Adelaide doesnít have a Winnings but thankfully because of covid they have been having regular cooking demos online.

Sorry to hear that you guys are back in lockdown.  Hope itís for too long.  Stay well! X

Must be pastie making day today!  I was lazy though so instead of lots of small ones made 4 large ones.  Each one will be fine for the two of us.  Had some pastry over so opened a jar of preserved apples and made two sml apple pies!

I have been making this pear cake for ages now after finding the recipe on Recipe Community.  Itís beautifully light and can also be made in muffin tins to become individual desserts!  Lovely served with cream or custard!

This is the recipe for the Pear cake I brought today!  You could also make it in muffin pan to serve as indivual desserts as itís lovely warm!

PEAR GINGER CAKE
 
140g golden syrup
100grams brown sugar
125g butter diced
250g self raising flour
1 teaspoon bicarb soda
1 tablespoon ground ginger
310g full cream milk
1 large egg
2 pears (peeled, cored & diced) you can also use tinned pears.  Today I just used 1 very large pear.

Melt butter, golden syrup & sugar on 90c - 5 mins - speed 2

Add dry ingredients, milk & egg.  Mix speed 4 - 4 to 5 secs ( until the dry flour is just combined.  Donít be tempted to over mix, as this will keep it light & fluffy.)

Fold in pear with spatula

Line tin/tins

Bake 180c for approx 60 mins or until cooked

Cool in tin for 10 mins, then cool on a wire rack until cold.
