Suggestions and Complaints / Grinding Cinnamon
« on: November 18, 2010, 03:35:52 pm »
Have to say that I am not wildly impressed with the grinding of cinnamon - probably 6 minutes on speed 10 and I still have flakes rather a finely ground cinnamon which I wanted

Anyone any ideas or is this just the best that the Thermomix does on such spices

I have loads of blackcurrants in freezer - I would like to make blackcurrant jam in the Thermie - does anyone have a recipe that works or is there one I can adapt?

Introduce Yourself / Another Thermomix Virgin
« on: September 17, 2010, 10:57:19 am »
Hi I've been lurking and posting for a little while - having finally disposed of all the kitchen stuff I never use I had made the decision to finally acquire my very own when to my utter amazement it turned up on my doorstep as a present from my best friend to whom I had been talking about it quite a lot !

So now after unpacking and looking at the machine for some time, reading the manual  I'm wondering where to start, what to do etc

Exciting and scary!

Any tips from other Thermomix virgins and new users gratefully received

I am in the UK so would be interested to know which of the cookery books any UK users find the best

Introduce Yourself / A few questions before I take the plunge - UK
« on: August 20, 2010, 11:13:32 pm »
I have been lurking around the site for a while getting to know more about the Thermomix and the recipes etc  before I finally take the plunge and order one - just wanted to ask a few more questions

1. Have other purchasers felt that their health has actually benefited from properly prepared meals using the Thermomix? I have to cater for an elderly parent who is eating far too much processed and sweet stuff to be nutritionally balanced.  I'm looking to prepare tastier and healthier meals without having to spend hours in the kitchen and was hoping that the Thermomix might help?

2. I am not cooking for a large growing family and wondered if the Thermomix might not be just an excess for two people?

I used to enjoy cooking a lot but recently have somewhat lost my mojo about it - hoping that the Thermomix might bring it back!

Introduce Yourself / Very Newbie from UK
« on: April 06, 2010, 12:25:11 am »
My name is Mel, from UK - don't know if there are any others from UK on here. I'm just contemplating taking the plunge with the purchase of a thermomix - really seeking feedback from those of you out there you have recently acquired one? How long did it take to get to grips with it? Do you feel it was really worthwhile and won't just sit in the back of the cupboard like lots of my previous stuff! How do you get on with recipes from cookery books which you already own?

Any feedback gratefully received - this is a real big purchase for me and I need some hand holding that I'm doing the right thing!
I think buying a car is probably a lot less hassle!
