Chit Chat / Re: Does anyone own a Phillips Airfryer?
« on: June 30, 2014, 02:26:29 am »
Thank you so much Jamborie and Achookwoman!

I have a cheapo turbo oven we use to roast chicken and kievs. Bit the bullet and bought the air fryer last night - in the hopes that perhaps my hubby can do more cooking as he is keen on the purchase.

Achookwoman, do you still use your turbo oven at all? I'm wondering if I should give away my turbo oven or still keep it "just in case".

Lurking. Has anyone compared a turbo (convection) oven and an air fryer? Is there a big difference? Do I need an air fryer?

PS: And what's this about a new thermie???  :)

Thanks Judy! Looks like it's out of the qn then. :) I'll go searching the forum on freezer-friendly recipes (for my toddler). Cheers.

Chit Chat / Frozen fagioli?

I'm not sure where to ask this question... sorry if it's the wrong forum!

Can the pasta fagioli (thermie style) be frozen?

TIA!

Silly question, do you have to completely defrost the chicken first?

(Trying to get more use out of my pressure cooker)

Thanks for sharing, especially people who have the Thermochef.

I whole-heartedly support competition and hence believe that the TC can give the thermomix a good run for its money. :) It will at least make service better - if not competitive prices.

I have to confess that I saw the TC being sold at a kitcheware store and while it wasn't a demo, I was happily left to my own devices and was able to inspect every part of the TC from head to toe. I was going to post the differences which I thought I noticed however don't think there's much point to that as a lot of people will probably go and inspect the TC themselves.

My conclusion is that the TC is certainly more affordable and offers a great value at its price, compared to the Thermomix but I did feel that the quality even of just simple things like the spatula and the cover, the metal basket and varoma, were not of as good a quality. So you do get what you pay for. That being said, I am not sure if I would have chosen a thermomix instead of a TC if I haven't bought one just cos I am a stingy poker and will find ways to save money if I can!

Finally got an sms from my consultant saying that she has the book, FINALLY!

I've just got to make arrangements to collect it now.

Thank you everyone, for "listening" to me. :)
I should have called HQ earlier methinks but it's ok, things are moving!

Thanks JudyDawn... for your empathy.
Is your husband feeling better?

It's been a week and I haven't heard from anyone yet.
How long should I give it before calling HQ again?

Or. Should I just give up and forfeit the cookbook?

Chit Chat / Re: Silly question! Sorry! - bringing up an old post

Just an update:

After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing (where I was told the Indian cookbook has sold out and she ordered MOTM as replacement without asking, and then me changing it to the Asian Cookbook instead and promising that she's paid for the postage etc), I still haven't got my cookbook!

Today I called HQ and they'll forward my query to the group leader.
I feel bad for doing this and I don't want to get anyone into trouble. But I do want my (free) cookbook! Which was due in November last year!

I hope this'll be resolved soon. To be honest, I know the TM is a great cooking machine. It is plain frustrating. I don't even dare to order another cookbook at the moment.

As a side note: HQ told me today that they have received new stock of the Indian cookbook. So anyone who wants one should order it asap. :)

Yeah, I think there were two scenes with the thermie. Both times they were doing flavours for the ganache I think... mixing without the MC. :)

Thanks for listening/reading.

Cookie1, I have been tempted to call HQ many times. Most times esp when I am in the mood for indian or when I am menu planning for special occasions and I am missing the indian cookbook. However I always hesitate because in the event that I am myself in strife, I'll appreciate if people are more understanding and sympathetic and that always holds me back from contacting HQ.
Then I get frustrated when my consultant is uncontactable. Either way, I just feel bad/guilty.

I guess, the qn is where do I draw the line?

Did you get your Everyday cookbook??  :-\

Hi Nay-nay,
The EDC came packed with the thermomix itself so at least I have that! And I am so thankful for the forum and the kind people who share recipes here.

Finally managed to contact my consultant (after 3 weeks of her not picking up her phone and not calling me back when she says she will). She's lost my Indian cookbook! And will have to re-order it from HQ and send it to me.Sigh. This means I prob won't see the cookbook for another month or so. On the plus side, she's mailed my invoice.
I empathise with whatever's that going on but I really do want to experiment with recipes in the Indian cookbook as well. :( I've been on leave from work 2 times already and that was when I was planning to try new things... no leave left for the next few months and I work full time so it's hard to try new things esp when coming home at 7pm and all I have time for is a quick meal.

Sorry to keep updating this thread and putting it on top but I just wanted to share my frustrations.

Thanks Meagan for replying. I'll try to call my consultant again and if there's no response then I'll be calling HQ soon.

(cookbook: remember I am still missing my indian cookbook? consultant MIA.)

Hi all,

Silly question. How do I contact HQ? Do I just call the freecall number listed on the website?

(Cookbook and invoice not here still. Hate having to resort to this).
