It pays to bump old postings occasionally - gives our newcomers a chance to have their say. Well done Cathy.

I quite enjoyed this one back a bit and I have made a note on it 'Try chicken and broccoli in lieu of salami' - don't know if that was my idea or whether I read it on the forum (I usually write the name of the person who suggested it but there is no name so I wonder if I did think of it all by myself :P :P)

Karen, go to a hardware shop and tell them what you want to do with your knives and they'll point you in the right direction to get the doodahs you need.  Take them home, make like you are going to start putting them up yourself (arm yourself with an electric drill or whatever you need) and your DH will soon take over.  Just make sure he is in the kitchen when you pretend to start installing the knives though otherwise you may have to see the whole project through on your own ??? ??? ???
My ex was dilly dallying once in the middle of building a room on the back of our house (watching sport on TV instead) so I picked up the circular saw and turned it on.  He came outside lickety split and the project was back on track ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

And from someone who actually succeeded in doing this a little while back - IT CAN BE DONE ;) ;) ;) One tip though - get enough long life milk in before you start.

Recipe Requests / Re: Excess coriander
« on: October 17, 2009, 03:00:02 pm »
I did a bit of research on coriander and growing it seems to be a problem for 9 out of 10 people. Cooler months seem better for slowing the going-to-seed problem apparently.  Some say they don't bother because it only costs 50 cents a bunch at the shops - well hello, not in South Australia it doesn't, it's $3 for what I would call a 1/4 of a bunch so it is worthwhile persisting to at least get one good crop that you can either dry or freeze. I count myself lucky that I was able to do that this time round.

Hi Catherine, welcome to the forum.  You will get lots of good advice from CarolineW and I bet she is the one who put you onto this site for inspiration. Is your sister on the forum too - I also live in Adelaide.  Spend a bit of time checking out our recipes - there are so many here to choose from.  Have fun and I'm sure you will make the time to use the machine to its fullest capacity. It becomes very addictive.

Thermie007 -  This was so easy to make and best of all hubby wants me to make this for him again! As soon as he dug into it some of the comments he made were"Mmm,this is tasty","Its full of flavour" & once he finished one bowl went back for seconds.
So from us Judydawn, its a winner!! Thank you.

JulieO - We thoroughly enjoyed this soup.  So simple and quick to make which made for a nice and relaxing day.  Good one Judy.

CP - Thank you JD, I made this today when my DD wanted to know what was for lunch. (Hmm, whatever happened to making a sandwich for yourself?) I like my soups a little chunkier too, so I didn't blitz it at the end. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheap and cheerful.

Thank you so much for that JulieO - nice of you to do the work for me.  Now I have to come up with the goods ;) ;) Made ice-cream today so it will be a little while before I need anymore but I will certainly be giving this a go - you are all welcome to beat me to it though as I'm sure there are plenty out there without an ice-cream maker who are wanting to make this treat for their family.

Cookbook Contents / Re: Rawlicious Contents

That would be fine Karen - looking through the GF book, there are plenty of recipes I'd do for us anyway if I had the time.

With raw food though - that is a different kettle of fish.  I just can't imagine some people ( the men I know) eating raw food as it is difficult even getting salads into some of them. Tarah, you seem to have it all under control and just go with the flow at the moment, as we all do. Some of our guests eat some foods, others don't and we have to cater for them all.  I have 3 diabetics in this street and for a Christmas get-together a couple of years back, I made 2 desserts, one for them and one for the non-diabetics. Mind you, whenever they put on something - the diabetic's needs are ignored so it does make you wonder :-)) :-)) :-))

Yes Cookie, Mum loves her food deliveries and delights in telling everyone that 'Judy keeps me supplied with food'.  Never knows what to expect.  Don't know what she is going to do when we go on our cruise for 2 weeks in December - maybe I had better do some frozen packs between now and then.  She does live right behind a shopping centre that has a chicken shop with great take-away food, Foodland is there too along with a bakery so I know she won't starve.
