Hi everyone.  I know I am months (ok, over a year) behind the last post, and haven't read through all of them but..I bought my copy of MOTM in August and cannot find Swedish Meatballs in it anywhere. The index claims it to be on page 15 in line with what everyone else says but in mine I have Thai Chilli Pork Sausage Rolls, which incidentally is also listed in the index on page 15.
Has anyone else come across this?

Chit Chat / Re: Silicone IKEA pastry mat
« on: July 02, 2012, 09:00:41 am »
I've visited IKEA several times since I got my thermy in April and have not managed to get a silicone mat. I keep getting told they have sold out. So, either everyone in Perth with a Thermomix keeps beating me to it, or they just are not getting them in.  ???

Oh I really like the look of this mat!!  I keep remembering my Mum and her old Tupperware pastry mat when I was a kid and, although they are totally different, it's hard to get past what a brittle, horrible thing that was LOL.

My DD and I both love Ikea, and make a morning of it a couple of times a year, just to wander around and check everything out at a leisurely pace, then finish it off with the Swedish Meatballs for lunch. The trick is to read the signs and note all the shortcuts, as it can be rather annoying having to wander around the whole place if you dont want to. Will plan a shopping trip for this week.

We experienced this yesterday when my DD was making the easy chocolate cake. Ended up tipping the batter down the sink as couldnt tell how much of anything went in it. Turned it off and on again a few mins late and it was all ok agaiin.  No idea what was going on. It's been fine today with everything else I've made.

I ordered my book last Sunday and it was waiting at the front door on Tuesday. Talk about prompt service!

I've yet to do anything other than read it and salivate. Mum's coming to visit for a few days at the end of the week, so will give something fantastic a shot then.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Thermomix Butter - photos

 :D
So glad I found this thread!

I made my first butter a few days ago and it was good. I didnt squeeze the last of the water out as the EDC doesnt mention it (why on earth not??), so what came out of the fridge for use was hard and a little crumbly and I could have sworn I was seeing tiny little droplets of icy water in it. Turns out I was!

I made my second lot last night and this time I did everything the same and squeezed the last of the water out using my hands. I thought about draining on a board and cutting etc, but that seemed too time consuming. I squeezed it in 3 lots in less than a minute and it's perfect this time.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Condiments and Sauces / Re: Elisabeth's Mayonnaise – no butterfly

Heading off to make this one now! Thanks Megan for posting it. The EDC mayo failed for me terribly (just a runny mess) even though everything was room temp etc.

Thanks again. :)

*update

Perfect, absolutely perfect. Thanks again for sharing Elizabeth's recipe, Megan. I now have a perfect batch of mayo, and a perfect batch of tuna dip that my daughter can take to school tomorrow with crackers for lunch (nestled amongst freezer blocks ;))

Havent done too much with it this weekend, but did make the compulsory vege stock, some mango sorbet and the apricot chicken (risotto style). It was very nice, my daughter said she liked it, but still preferred the original type of apricot chicken :)

Oh, and thanks for the tip ~ I absolutely love Evernote.

Thank you so much for the welcome everyone.

Joy of joys, my Thermomix was delivered this afternoon. I am totally shocked, as I only ordered it on Wednesday night, and of course Thursday was a public holiday. My consultant picked it up from the office just before closing on Friday. I am absolutely overwhelmed at the quick turn around of my order  ;D ;D

Now what to make first?? LOL.

Hi KMP, I too am new here.

I love your username. As an ex moderator for an online game, I've seen all sorts of user names and yours I thought was very tame and quite funny :D

Although I havent done it yet, to add a profile pic, click on the profiile tab, then on the left under modify profile, click on Forum Profile Information, and you're right where you need to be.  Looks like you can upload straight from your hard drive, or link to one on the web.

Have fun

Thanks for the welcome Denise.

@ Brenda & Judy.... somehow thats what I thought would be the most common way to hang onto tried and loved recipes. I've heard about the RoboGourmet app, which I was told by the reps was simply the international cookbook in app form, but so far it's not been made for android, so that counts me out. One day our time will come.

@ Shan and Cookie, I hadnt heard of MacGourmet (apple?) or Evernote before.  So will have a look at them, thanks. Failing that, I'll just make up a spreadsheet and link everything to it so I can access it offline.

Back to the eyestrain from reading.  :-\
