Hi Uni, how are you this morning?  Did you get a good sleep / rest overnight?

I wasn't expecting to see you here at this hour Halley.  Hope the tea soothes you both back to sleep for another couple of hours.

Thanks for that recipe, Farfallina.  I love gardening (don't have enough time, generally, but love it).  There is something special about growing and eating your own produce and knowing that none of those toxic chemicals have been used in the growing, the satisfaction when you are harvesting the ripe crop from your garden and taste is sensational.

Hi Clare.   Welcome to the forum.  I'm another Kiwi from Wellington, now living in Melbourne.  Never been to Golden Bay but love that whole area and wish I had had more time to travel around the Sounds and surrounding countryside.  Thanks for the link to the Addicted to Veges blog, I'm have a great time fossicking around there.

Well, it's just after 5.00 am now and there is no sign of Uni so she must be still in bed and resting.

Take it easy for a while, Uni, there are no prizes for knocking yourself out, everyone will just have to adapt and survive until you get better - and you've got to be recovered by the time your grandchild comes along so that you can hold him or her!

Good to have you back Uni - I think you had most of the forum popping on and off this thread all day anxiously waiting to hear how you got on.

So glad that it is nothing more serious, but it's quite bad enough so continue to listen to all your Agony Aunts on here and take it easy for a little while.

Nadine, thanks for such a candid post.  I'm sure you will have the motivation to give this a go - even if you are not 100% successful at least you are trying and that is the main thing.

Sorry I can't join you - I have about 1 sip of wine out of my DH's glass once a week, so no one would raise any amount of money sponsoring me but good luck and give it your best.

I see you are off-line now Uni, that is good.  Hopefully it means that you are getting everything checked up.  Gert got in with her 'lecture' before I could threaten you with her name to try to motivate you to get to A&E or your GP (sorry about that comment, Gert, hope you don't mind me using your influence in that way).

You do so much each day you must surely be run down as well, please, please, please take time to rest now, I know it's not easy, when you are so busy, but there comes a time when you have to take time for yourself to just cut down for a while - take it from someone who has gone through it before!

Stacelee, I agree about the fifty Shades trilogy - if I ever read the words Smirk, Oh My, et al again it will be too soon.  I'm with you re. sci fi / fantasy.

I found a fabulous little image on facebook and wanted to share it with you all, but cannot transfer it over to here.  It comprised five green aliens, with the following message:

WHAT IS A CALORIE:

Calories are the little b####rds that get into your wardrobe at night and sew your clothes tighter ... my closet is infested with the little sh*ts.

'morning all ... surely I'm not the first one up and about in Aussie this morning?  - no, I've just checked, there are two or three others on just now - it looks like they haven't got to this thread yet, though.  Delighted that Uni isn't here yet, hoping she is still in bed sound asleep

One of my favourite pass-times when travelling in non-native English speaking countries is reading the hotel House Rules.  I can vividly remember one stating that no unsnary items were to be taken into the room, you were also not allowed to up anyone, lighting of fireworks in the room was also banned ... I wish I could remember them all, but it is a long time since I read them and some of them have faded into my 'grey matter', never to be found again.

In Japan is it very much a no-no to use mobile phones on public transport (I don't know about other public spaces).  If only that were the case over here.

Amy, I'm going back to pet hates.

To be honest, I haven't given this much thought but I think the top of my list would have to be (lack of) mobile phone etiquette.  I hate having to listen to someone else's personal / private / commercial business in cafe's, on public transport, etc. - and usually in a very loud voice, just in case the person at the other end of the line is deaf.  I also find it highly offensive if I am serving someone and their phone rings and they take the call without even excusing themselves - suddenly it's as if I am no longer present, the phone call takes priority and I am left standing there, wasting my time whilst they chatter on about (to me) totally inane subjects.  >:( >:( >:(  GGGGRRRRRRRRRR
