Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Jump, Jive and Wail
« on: March 29, 2011, 08:59:31 am »
Was in the middle of making dinner and all of a sudden tmx decides it wants to gyrate all over the place. On speed 4???? I've made this dish before without drama so not sure why it's doing it? I gave the base a clean in case it was giving grief but it's still going everywhere. Standing here so it doesn't go over the edge and trying not to burn my hand holding top to stabilize it is not fun :(

Chit Chat / How are the flooded Aussies?
« on: December 30, 2010, 04:24:58 am »
Sorry if there's already a thread.

Hope those caught up in the floods are staying safe. We are on dry ground here caught between flooded areas. Only been here just over a month and have been flooded in one way or another ever since!!! At least we are faring better than Emerald who are currently being evacuated, or worse, Theodore. The footage on the news last night was as heartbreaking as it was unbelievable.

Foodwise our local Woollies has no bread, milk, flour, frozen veges, baking powder and barely any meat, fruit, veges etc. They are hoping the truck will get through next week. Sounds like Rockhampton is the same.

In these times I'm loving my Thermomix even more! Came here to hunt down a recipe for bread lol Luckily I stocked up on milk the other day and have enough in the freezer to last until supplies come in I hope!!

Will be more active once I have a computer back!!! It's been gone for months now getting repaired.

So again, stay safe those flooded and I hope when the levels recede the damage isn't too extensive for you.

Recipe Requests / Steamed Salmon Recipes?
« on: April 26, 2010, 06:15:06 am »
Hello all!

I was having a look for a fairly simple dish that would incorporate steamed salmon.  Wanting a complete meal that can be made pretty much at the same time if possible!

I saw the Snapper/Trout Di Josie in the EDC... would that recipe be suitable for salmon too?

We're trying to get a meal plan happening and then tweaking it to use as weight loss but we need to make sure we'll eat it first before we start tweaking! hehehehe!!!

Interested in salmon recipes as that's pretty much the only fish we eat.

Recipe Requests / Cat Food
« on: November 07, 2009, 12:01:07 pm »
I did a quick search and didn't see anything on this topic.  Is it possible to make cat food?  I vaguely recall that it's not the same as dog food to make (or maybe it is if you're making it instead of buying it?).

Bit clueless but definitely need to get their diet seen to now while we're doing our own!

Vegetarian / Carrot and Spinach Slice
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:56:41 am »
Okay this is my first attempt so be kind to me!  This is a favourite here and the tmx has made the prep so much easier!  Any hints/suggestions to cut down on washing up would be appreciated! :)

Name of Recipe: Carrot and Spinach Slice
Number of People: 6

Ingredients:
1 bunch silverbeet/spinach OR 2 x 250gr packet frozen chopped spinach
2 whole eggs
3 egg whites
1 1/2 tblsp concentrated vege stock
2-3 cloves of garlic
15-20gr (2tblsp) grated parmesan cheese
45-50gr (1/2 cup) grated tasty cheese
300gr (3 cups) grated carrot
70gr (1/2 cup) diced onion
100gr (3/4 cup) SR Flour
pepper to taste
cooking spray
extra 45-50gr (1/2 cup) grated tasty cheese

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 180 degrees fan forced*.

If using silverbeet: Wash then remove white stalks**.

Cut silverbeet leaves into thin strips*** .  Microwave in a little water for 3 minutes.  Drain really well by pushing out as much water as possible from silverbeet and leave to one side.

If using frozen spinach: defrost and squeeze as much water out as possible before using (guess which method I use most?! heehee!).

If you haven't already grated, diced etc:
Put EXTRA tasty cheese in tmx and grate it for a few seconds on speed 4-5.  Put to one side.
Then put the tasty cheese and garlic cloves in and again grate for a few seconds on speed 4-5.  Put to one side.
Put roughly chopped carrots and onion quarters in the tmx and grate for 15-20secs on speed 4-5.  Put to one side and wash tmx.
Put all eggs in tmx and beat for 30 seconds on speed 7-8.
Add concentrated stock, garlic and cheese (from bowl to side) and parmesan cheese to the tmx and combine for 30-60 seconds on speed 7-8 in REVERSE.
Add in carrot and onion (in bowl to side) together with spinach (sitting to side draining) and combine for 1 minute on speed 4-5 in REVERSE.
Add flour**** to tmx and stir for 1 minute on speed 1 in REVERSE.  Flour should be well combined with ingredients.
Coat a quiche dish with cooking spray then spread mixture into dish.  Sprinkle the extra tasty cheese over top.
Bake 45 minutes or until browned and firm in centre.

Photos:
Currently in oven so will take a picture when it comes out.
Tips/Hints:
* I usually have my non fan-forced oven on 380 degrees F.
**An easy way to do this is to hold the stalk in one hand and with the other hand pull away the green leaf.
*** I never do this when I use actual silverbeet.  I roughly pull it apart into smaller pieces.
**** You might need a bit extra flour depending on liquidity of ingredients.  It should be sticky but not dough-like.

I’m not sure on the speeds as this is my first effort.  Let me know if less time/different speed works for you! 

I use a pie dish.

If not does anyone have a good (and easy) one I can try? :)

Introduce Yourself / Another one from Darling Downs
« on: October 24, 2009, 04:16:50 am »
Hello! After hearing friends rave about the TMX I decided to book a demo as I couldn't make the recent cooking class.  DH was very sceptical and said it wouldn't be worth the money and it would sit in a cupboard collecting dust.  However after the demo he was just as interested as I was!  We ordered ours yesterday and I'm impatiently waiting for it to arrive (I want it NOW darn it!).  In the meantime I'm having fun trying to source local organic produce to go with it.  I'm pretty excited about the thought of being able to make things like jam, butter, bread etc without all the added nasties.

I have 2 daughters aged 3 and 1 and I really want to get them eating healthily and think that the TMX can only help in that.

I think one of my first endeavours will be to use the vanilla beans I bought in a co-op a while ago! heehee  I had planned on using them to make vanilla extract as part of Christmas hampers but I've left it a little late but I'm sure I will get through it anyway!

I have been lurking around the past few days and daresay I will be posting more when the tmx arrives... I am still deciding on names... lol

Oh and my name is Susan... forgot to say that! lol
