FYI the Squeezems ones is also by an Australian business. They are reusable but frankly filling and cleaning is a pain. Pouched seems so much more practical.

I got the reusable pouches from Squeezems but will check this on out as well. The Squeezems pouches are very small, it only holds half of what usually goes into the regular pouches. Good for little bubbas but not for my impatient toddler!

Supermum, DH and I are full time students AND run a consulting biz on the side. Business was good this year (hence the purchase) but at the same time I was completing my thesis so I almost went mad trying to juggle everything.

Hi Supermum, thank you so much! I have wanted this ever since my daughter started solids (now she's 2) and now that I am getting a Thermie, I have started thinking about a second bub :D

We spend up to $100 a week on takeaways ($35 for once a week vegan takeaway, $25 for weekend Indonesian food takeaway, then $5 a day for lunch for me and hubby) because we're both so busy. That money will be put to much better use with the Thermie!

I also spend heaps of $$$ to feed my fussy daughter, keep tossing food out, etc. When she's teething or sick, the only thing she'll have are the smoothie/puree pouches, and they are $2 each! I have purchased reusable pouches and will stock up on homemade purees and smothies for my fusspot and save $$ that way.

JD you need to buy one of the grand kids an iPad so they become experts and can help you out  ;D

My 2 yo loves the iPad and at one point even tried to swipe her books (and got annoyed when the pages didn't change!). #badmumalert

Chit Chat / Re: I giving up smoking :D
« on: November 26, 2012, 11:27:21 pm »
Good luck dede! I know exactly what you are going through. I smoked for 10 years, was a pack a day gal for a while.

I quit smoking 5 years ago, which was my 5th attempt. So far, the most successful one! I quit cold turkey than completely changed my lifestyle--did a 3 day detox and turned vegetarian and have taken up yoga.

I found that helped a lot because a) I got rid of the toxins sooner than I would have without the lifestyle change and b) the changes helped distract my mind from smoking.

I have to admit I had the occasional cravings, especially when things got stressed at work. But instead of reaching out for one, or even for sweets, I ran. Running calmed my mind.

Quitting smoking was one of the best decisions I made for myself. That and perhaps getting a Thermomix (still waiting for mine to get here!).

xo,
Dhitri

Chit Chat / Re: What is for Breakfast
« on: November 26, 2012, 11:21:22 pm »
I used to skip brekkie - but after having one a few rounds of Michelle Bridges' 12wbt I alternate between the following:

- Quinoa with yogurt and berries

- Multigrain toast with ricotta and banana (with bit of cocoa powder)

- Multigrain toast with avocado and boiled egg

- Oat porridge with soymilk, and I throw in shredded coconut, LSA, and bit of dried fruit

I have brekkie at 7am after my morning workout. Usually keeps me full till lunch (I skip morning tea because they serve too many biccies and sweet treats here at uni) -- but then again I usually have early lunch (11.30am).

Mine works beautifully, but then again, I've only used it for 48 hrs :) but with other apps, I'd just re-install them if they play up. Hope it's fixed now, dede! xo

News about Thermomix / Re: The forum is on TWITTER -- YIPEE!!!
« on: November 25, 2012, 08:51:48 pm »
Yay! Great to see the forum on Twitter. I was just thinking about this the other day. There is a wealth of info on here that can be tweeted to reach out to new followers/members. And hopefully the forum (MM?) can help answer any queries tweeted by new or aspiring owners real time.

As some members have pointed out, Twitter is great for live updates, real time responses and is great for drawing crowd to your other social media platforms (ie Facebook, the Forum). I have a personal Twitter account (it's @dhitri) and manage a couple others for work etc. Have been tweeting many #thermomix recipes from my Pinterest board and gained a lot of new followers (at least a new one on a daily basis).

FYI, I work in communications and research about social media--I truly believe it has and will continue to shape how people communicate and how the media works on and offline.

Newbie excitement: just ownloaded Tapatalk HD onto the iPad (have the regular version on the phone)--love the interface and features, particularly the Gallery (attached)! It looks awesome and it's sooo easy to navigate.
