Gert,  there is no way we would pay this.   A real rip off. We have also paid $150 for 12 months of 3G .   Seems we can use it anywhere.

wow they charge for wifi in oz ??? its free in europe and every hotel etc has it and gives you the connection code when you check in ..all free...doesnt surprise me though oz charges for every little thing!! We just got the wifi model as we have access nearly everywhere and the only time we couldnt is in the car then you would need the g but I cant read the screen in the car anyway ends up making me ill lol

I have 3G with my netbook and that is wonderful. Works most places. Not at King's Canyon in Northern Territory and only at Nullabor Station going over the Nullabor.

We have the 12 months $120 for both iPads. It is great as you know you will have connection wherever you go ;)

Try connecting to wi-fi in Perth hotels. You can only have a 24-hour or a 2-hour block at outrageously expensive prices - $20 for 2 hours!
I go to Macca's as much as possible when away.

So, if I get an iPad, I can still use my own internet network at home, but will need to buy some for when I'm out? Where I live, we can only use the 3G wireless network as there's no broadband here. I'll have to check out what everyone else who has an iPad around here does.

I have internet on my iPhone, but I guess I can cancel that or perhaps transfer it? I don't have a iPad yet, I have to sell my MacBook if I want one...

Also, what does everyone recommend? The biggest Gigs with wi-fi? That's about $895. The only thing I don't like about iPads is no USB ports.

Meganjane, if you have an iPhone you can sit it next to your iPad and it will sync the 3G to the iPad so no need for you to buy a data card for it. I am not sure if this is  advertised but I know it works.

You  can beg borrow and steal wi fi from Maccas and others.  Next  phone I get will be an iPhone for just this reason. Just do not use your iPhone  and iPad together when overseas and in roaming mode.

You. An set up you iPhone, iPad and iPod to all use iCloud and they will automatically sync all without  going through your computer. Magic.

be careful of icloud for photos though..you can disable it as anything that you upload on icloud..apple may use as they wish including all of your photos....i dont have icloud enabled on mine for photos..

Good point frozzie. In fact don't  upload anything from any computer if you do not want it published  permanently to the world . Once it is out there you have no control.  Thanks for the reminder..
