Teninas Curry Powder
« on: October 31, 2012, 02:51:06 am »
This was on Tenina's blog some time back.. My noted copy was from beginning of January 2011.. This is the recipe I was talking about on the other topic.. I imagine there is no problem posting it here Tenina as it was available for everyone via your blog.. Let me know if its still there and a link so i can link it to your blog :)) or if you have a problem with this ..

Total time: 9 minutes
Preparation time: 1 minute

Very easy

Ingredients

2 tbsp each of the following;

Ground turmeric
Coriander seeds
Cumin seeds
Fennel seeds
½ cinnamon stick
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp cardamom seeds
2 tsp chilli flakes
2-3 curry leaves

Preparation

Place all ingredients into clean, dry TM bowl and roast for 8 minutes at Varoma temperature on speed 2. When cooked, allow to cool slightly before milling for 10-20 seconds on speed 9 or until finely ground.

Tips

Will store in airtight container for up to 3 months. Use as directed in any recipe that requires curry powder.

I imagine though it wouldnt work as the curry leaves must give the distinct flavour with other spices??? Kaffir being lime but maybe you could create a tasty new spice.. They would have to be dried though..

Kim, are the coriander, cumin and fennel seeds ground or whole?

So do you think this curry powder is far better than any other curry powder recipe we have?  Might be nice for our hampers.

Kim, want me to post some to you?  You should be also be able to get a plant up there as they love the heat and especially humidity.  I have mine in a very large pot as once they are planted they like to send up suckers.  So if you do get one and put it in a pot make sure you put something underneath it ie a brick or you might find the roots go down and you have them springing up everywhere.
